NoCheatPlus

Detect and fight the exploitation of various flaws/bugs in Minecraft!
Introduction
NoCheatPlus attempts to prevent cheat clients from exploiting weaknesses of Minecraft or its protocol, making your server more safe. Checks cover a wide range of issues including flying and speeding, fighting hacks, fast block breaking and nukers, inventory hacks, chat spam and other types of malicious behaviour. NoCheatPlus puts emphasis on configurability and allows you to customize actions that are carried out when a player fails a check (e.g. silent cancelling, executing commands, just logging). Bypass permissions allow to control what check to apply for which players, all checks can be deactivated in the configuration, also having the option for world-specific configuration files. Many checks allow more detailed configuration to adjust sensitivity.
Certainly NoCheatPlus is not a magical bullet, it uses a lot of heuristics and even guessing, so you will encounter false positives here and there and also not catch every single violation. Example video of how NoCheatPlus blocks cheats (outdated plugin version).
NoCheatPlus was introduced by NeatMonster, building on the code base of NoCheat by Evenprime.

The following plugins might be useful to have a look at.
ProtocolLib
Allows NoCheatPlus to activate packet-level checks, covering a range of exploits that can't be monitored using ordinary means. Since roughly Minecraft 1.7.10, the fight.speed check can't work as expected anymore, due to changes in CraftBukkit. With ProtocolLib this can be repaired.
CompatNoCheatPlus (cncp)
Make plugins like mcMMO or MachinaCraft more compatbile with NoCheatPlus. Not all existing plugins are covered (yet), but you can leave a note or create an issue/ticket request for cncp. Phasing out: Citizens 2 should work with NCP out of the box, MagicSpells are working on compatibility too - rest will be integrated into NCP.
Orebfuscator
Orebfuscator fights all sorts of X-ray-hacks by altering the map information that is sent to the players, such that they have to mine blocks to actually reveal what is behind. Virtually a "must have". (Latest versions of Spigot contain features of Orebfuscator.)

Please keep to the ticket you made. This is slightly confusing, having you state that "it was caused by an outdated config" and then post this here. I need more information about Spigot + blockbreaking. Best update to the latest dev build (currently it is advisable rather) and please try to get some screenshot or log entries for the incidents (nocheatplus.log and/or server.log depending on settings). Please provide it in the ticket.
Concerning lag: there can be seconds-range lag spikes even at 20 tps. We will add something to NCP later that detects lag spikes too.

The godmode kick has been removed in 261, just remove the godmode actions and reload the config, or delete the config file and then do "ncp reload". To remove a kick deactivating the check is never necessary, you can alter the actions (cmd:kickXY usually).

Posted Nov 28, 2012Seems to kicking a lot of people for godmode that don't have godmode. Had to disable that check. (Running on the latest dev build, 261)
When they are kicked for the godmode, they try to rejoin but can't. It consistently kicks them for godmode.

There is no lag on the server though. We run a constant 20 TPS. This happens when we have 5 people online.

Without cancelling ... you have to try it out with a hack client.
However banning is a pretty hard thing, survivalfly needs some corrections for the case of being stuck in sand or gravel (coming soon) before that i would rather not use ban.

What issue ?
blockbreak.fastbreak and blockbreak.frequency might go off with severe lag spikes. If you have lag spikes often or even constantly low tps then you have to adapt the configuration to make fast block breaking easier. We will probably add some switch for better server-side-lag compatibility later on, but it is not yet available.

Posted Nov 27, 2012Could you guys tell me a vl that would be impossible for a legit player to reach for survival fly and fight speed? I plan on having nocheat autoban for those, but want to make sure legit players will be left alone. It's also worth mentioning that all checks have canceling disabled (so fly vl's go higher). Right now I think 1 million for both checks would work, but would like some input from one of the plugin developers before configuring NCP to autoban.

By no means downgrade.
Rather suspect that player :) - In fact the checks in question has not been changed since way more than 15 builds. Frequency is a pretty hard timing based check, it might go off on severe lag spikes, though. So if NCP gets "spammy" on such checks and it did not do before, then this is an indication that your server has become more laggy. You can alter the configuration to allow more for the shortterm setting of blockbreak.frequency.
Or are you using some tree-feller plugin (mcMMO)? In that case you need something to make it compatible (CompatNoCheatPlus in case of mcMMO).

NoCheat is so incredibly spammy in the last 15 or so builds. Would downgrading to 3.8.1 on 1.4.5 be better then the recent builds? I have removed the "i" from all fastbreak yet we get spammed by someone simply cutting a tree.

Falling out of the world should not be related to passable / survivalfly. In fact passable prevents it rather. The alerts can happen if players have not recceived chunks but are already sending moving packets (falling out of the world).
This boils down to the basics once again: what is your CraftBukkit and NoCheatPlus versions ?
(To just notify instead of doing something you can indeed remove cancel and kick actions, though.)

If I disable a check, Will I still receive notifications about it (If not, is there a way to still enable these notifications) as currently, my players either fail "Passable" or "SurvivalFly" due to lag I think causing them to fall out the world but I still want to receive notifications in-case someone really is cheating.

NCP is just stating players failing checks. Accusing of hacking is something that admins probably do / think (There is a short explanation above).
Some checks are influenced by lag, we try to reduce the effect of lag, but some things can not be checked without timing constraints and frequency limits.
Some checks do in fact allow to be configured for more tolerance in case of lag. It now depends on what checks are in question.
I will try to bring in more documentation about which checks are influenced by lag and how, and also to add some "serious" lag detection to NCP accounting both for average tps drops and lag spikes.
