Found the problem!
If keepSpawnInMemory is false, chunks do not unload.

Posted Nov 28, 2014Confirmed: It's a plugin conflict. Tested on a server with only Multiverse-Core and Essentials and chunks seem to unload. I'm now trying to discover what plugin is clashing.

The point is, I did not take too many timings in the case. But how would you go around explaining the constantly increasing amount of chunks? Currently that behavior seems pretty reluctant and stubborn.

The amount of entities (6000 entities) was merely caused by the massive amount of chunks loaded (11000 loaded chunks, this amount was slowly accumulated over time, which did NOT happen before I switched over to Spigot 1.8). I have no other explanation but that the chunk unloading refuses to work with Spigot 1.8 - and that is your problem. It is even further proven by the fact that I'm running the chunk unloading script every 5 minutes now and there has been no issues at all.
Entity activation ranges are, by the way, way below than they are by default.
Also, see this, where I took measurements of /etps (Essentials tps command) when doing something, which clearly also point to a bug in the chunk unloading. I am also obliged to show this in real-time.

Here is one timings report from when the server was already considerably lagging. I do not have ClearLagg installed, although I made my own patch to unload all chunks. Also, chunks unloaded all fine before I changed to Spigot 1.8 so I doubt the config is the main issue here.

Posted Nov 28, 2014For me, the new Spigot is making chunk loading go awry. Minigames world has nearly a thousand chunks loaded despite the fact that nobody's there and keepSpawnInMemory has been set to false. Also, people from Spigot Forums are reporting issues (some even saying the plugin is severely broken).
EDIT: It seems like Multiverse is unable to unload chunks. After a while, according to /etps my survival map had 11 000 chunks loaded with only 5 players and view distance of 8 chunks, along with the same issue in the minigames map with 8000 chunks and a single player, dropping the TPS to 12. This is a severe problem.

Posted Nov 19, 2014FirstSpawnWorld isn't working in the config :/ and yes, I set all the groups' spawn there in essentials and I have configured Essentials to give Multiverse Highest Priority but still.. all new players spawn in Factions world. I have seen someone opened a ticked with the same probelm back in April but it wasn't fixed. This is a real problem for me :/

Posted Nov 17, 2014Dear developement team. Could you (I know this is not just a small addition, but a real challenge) add functionality that allows different worlds to use different config folders when this plugin is used in a modded bukkitforge build like BukkitCauldron? This would allow people to set up servers that have a whole different worldgen (and probably other settings) on all worlds.
If this is already possible, I am sorry for disturbing you, but could you explain to me how I do this? If there is already another plugin or mod out there that does this, please let me know.
I know I could use two different servers instead of multiverse, but how would you then transfer items from one to the other world? + multiple servers takes a lot more RAM and CPU I guess.
If you do not wish to support Forge functionalities in any way, I understand. Bukkit and Forge are something completely different after all.

Posted Nov 16, 2014Hey there, I want to use the multiverse API in my plugin. How exactly can I do that? I want to add and remove the worldedit.* node from a player upon entering and leaving a certain world. I know there might be a plugin out there like this but i need to practice, especially implementing more than one API.
