MoxieSkills

MoxieSkills is a skills plugin like none you've ever seen before. Having had three previous recodes, the current version is as fast and efficient as you will ever see. Train yourself in a range of fifteen unique skills to beat your friends. With hiscores, good interfacing and challenging levelling, you'll never be bored.
What Does MoxieSkills Do?
- Competitive levelling formula
- Vast range of skills
- Skill leaderboards
- Skill and XP dynamics similar to that seen of online MMOs
- Multipliers for individual players and their skills
- MySQL Database support
- Each skills is highly configurable - each has it's own file!
This plugin uses an email API to automatically report errors. I do not receive passwords (this would break Bukkit rules). If you want to keep your email anonymous, use Yahoo! email, otherwise use GMail (only Yahoo! and GMail are supported). There is also an option to send your server IP to improve communications. This plugin also uses an auto-updater and MCStats.

Hey, is it a constant lag or does it happen when moxie saves?
If you use Bukkit's '/timings' command, you can see what exactly is taking it's time, IF it is a bukkit plugin.

Is there a debug function? It seems im having major issues. after about. a week of running this plugin we have been experiencing more and more lag issues untill just now when it dropped to 14tps. After scrambling to purge worlds, shutdown worlds, and disable new plugins untill I found the cause. It seems moxie is the only thing not running now and the lag is gone. Its been about 20 minutes since i killed moxie and the issue has not returned. So is there a way to figure out why its causing me lag? -Dustin

When the Abilities come, they'll be in a file called Abilities.yml - you can just enable/ disable them the same as you can skills

Abilities are on the way but I really need some ideas for different abilities, so if you have any just make a ticket for them :)

That's next on my list. You'll be able to award recurring levels, such as every 1,2 or 5 levels, and individual awards at any level for each ability. It'll have economy, item and xp support :)

Posted Jan 6, 2013So if I want players to be able to gain experience in the various skills but gain absolutely NO special abilities provided by this plugin, what do I have to do?

Posted Jan 5, 2013Can you add economy support? So like i would be able to award people for getting levels? And also with a multiplier so that you gradually get more money for higher levels! I dropped mcmmo for this and I LOVE it! Keep up the great work!

Yeah, I've just uploaded a new version I was talking about, I just need to wait for Bukkit to approve it and then you want to download 'Moxie - Phoenix Edition (V1.0)'. That version should and will work :)

That'd be an error on my part, I compiled it with Java 1.7, instead of 1.6. Version 0.95 should workfine when it gets approved.

It depends on the skill. For example, strength and attack might only unlock abilities but ability could have a higher percentage of not taking damage from a fall per level, or fishing becomes easier as they level up, or even taming mobs being easier with constitution.

Posted Jan 3, 2013Thanks for the quick response, and sure thing, adding now! So just to be clear, at the moment the skill levels dont actually change how well a player can preform certain tasks, its more-or-less just a read-out of who's preformed the most of X activity?

That seems like a good idea. If you add this as a support ticket, I'll be able to take a closer look at it when i start adding the abilities :)
As for your other questions:
When you level a skill, it'll fire a mini event which fires fireworks up if the player wants too (they can configure it per player in 0.95 update). Players will then be able to take advantage of certain abilities when i add them in, and the abilities will be multiskill compatible.
The amount of XP needed is dependent per skill. Each skill has an independent multiplier. This determines the levelling. The formula is 'level + 1 = (level x level) x multiplier'. The default value is 10, so to get Level 2 in a skill, they would need (1 x 1) x 10 = 10xp. For Level 3, it would be (2 x 2) x 10 = 40xp. The idea behind this is that it gets harder per level for the player to level up.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask :)

Posted Jan 3, 2013A few things...
First off, this thing seems awesome so far. Good work!
That being said, I'm confused on two things, the first being what exactly happens when you level a skill and the second being how much xp you need to level said skill. Having some control over these would be awesome in future updates.
What I REALLY want is to be able to assign a % multiplier to a skill's levels, for example Mining at Lv1 set to 25% means that tools decay 25% faster and you mine at 25% speed. Where as Mining at Lv5 set to 100% would be everything as normal. 150% being 50% better than normal, etc...
