Movecraft
NOW MOVED TO SPIGOTMC, CHECK HERE FOR NEWER VERSIONS:
https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/movecraft.31321/

A Brief Description
Movecraft is a plugin that has been designed to give purpose to those extremely large (and awesome) oceans as well as to simply give the option to Sail, Drive, or Pilot amazing Ships, Creations, or Zeppelins. It allows the player and/or players to craft Vessels out of blocks that can be piloted and thus moved. Hence the name MoveCraft.
Credit
Movecraft was first created by Yogoda for hMod.
Movecraft 3 is a complete recode. It's only similarity to the Movecraft of Yogada is it's name.
Documentation, Tutorials, Quick Start Guide, and Demo Videos

Permissions
Movecraft uses the following permissions:
movecraft.<craft name>.pilot
movecraft.<craft name>.move
movecraft.<craft name>.rotate
movecraft.<craft name>.repair
For example, if you have a craft named "Airship", you would need movecraft.Airship.pilot, movecraft.Airship.move, and movecraft.Airship.rotate in order to completely use it.
There is also:
movecraft.<craft name>.create - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.cruisesign - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.commands - grants access to /pilot, /cruise, /release, /rotateleft, /rotateright, /craftreport
You can also control these granularly with:
movecraft.commands.release
movecraft.commands.pilot
movecraft.commands.rotateleft
movecraft.commands.rotateright
movecraft.commands.cruise
movecraft.commands.craftreport
Dependencies
Movecraft does not require any other plugin to function, however certain features require additional plugins:
WorldEdit (>6.0) - For repair system
Vault - For payment system
In addition, the following plugins are supported for compatibility:
Cannons - Cannons will move with a piloted craft
WorldGuard - Region protection
Most common permission plugins - Assign permissions to various craft features

Gotcha. To be honest, with everything I'm trying to add I think the plugin is suffering from feature creep at the moment anyway. I'm hesitant to add anything else until we have had some time for the current new feature set to be absorbed by the community, bugs found, that sort of thing.

A system we use on MadRealms which means ships can be anchored.
The reason we do not include this in movecraft is it is part of madrealms gameplay and not movecraft.

Cool design. That's the sort of thing I was hoping people would do with the plugin, come up with their own craft systems and go with it. I could see your design being even better with the Cruise system in the new build, so the ship and airplane would go faster forward than in other directions.
Sorry for the delays in getting the newest version with all the new features out. I'm trying to chase down an elusive bug with entity movement. I've thought I had it fixed 3 times, only to have it crop up again. I'm working on it, will have it fixed ASAP.

In order to use the newest release with 1.6.4 you actually have to put:
CompatibilityMode: true
into your config.yml file in the movecraft directory. Sorry for the confusion, this will be fixed momentarily.

Posted Oct 21, 2013Ok, I have updated the main page. Hopefully it is now easier for new users to see how to set things up, and for old users to see how to set up some of the new features. I also fixed a few more bugs with entity movement. Should have the new code out to AJCStriker for submission soon.

Posted Oct 20, 2013For anyone who cares, I have updated my pride-and-joy airship design, the Destroyer. It is now fully functional; the automatic weapons now work perfectly with the newest version of the mod. I also added a fighter and a gunship as well as 2 utility airskiffs into its hangar bays, so you have a few other ships to play around with if you want.
If you want to try it out, you can use WorldEdit to place the schematic you can download here:
http:www.minecraft-schematics.com/schematic/1716/
All the necessary .craft files and everything else needed is listed at the bottom of that page.
Several people have been concerned with the performance hit of using larger airships, so I also uploaded the much smaller Corvette class warship, The Puma. This is a good choice if you're server isn't very good but you still want to play around with armored warships. It's less than half the size of the Destroyer, but still heavily armed and armored. Also, unique to the Puma, absolutely every gun on the ship can be controlled from the bridge/control room. Since it has no hangar, this ship you actually have to land to get on or off.

Sounds like I better hurry on those tutorial! :)
In short, if you specify canFly: false in your .craft file it assumes it is a watercraft and allow it to go through water. You then control its behavior with MinHieghtLimit and MaxHeightLimit. For a surface ship, both should be equal so it can't go up or down. For a submarine, MinHeightLimit would be the bottom of the ocean so it can dive. For a submersible airship, MaxHeightLimit would be above the surface of the water.
To get you going quickly, feel free to use these .craft deffinitions from my server:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11164014/MovecraftTypes.zip
Two of the crafts in there are the Ship and the Submarine. The Ship requires 25% wood, and the Submarine requires 10% iron blocks.

There is no need to be rude. I'm working on getting some better step by step instructions on this page, until then I made this tutorial which goes step by step from a fresh install and includes setting up permissions and everything.

No it does not give any errors, it just leaves you in the same area while the plane moves while you stay in the Chairs location.
Also I would be interested in the Alpha :)

Yeah, all the heavy stuff is in the asynch classes.
Thats too bad, Mriya. Does it give any errors? There is cruise control in the alpha release, which will make it into the public release as soon as I feel confident its reasonably bug free. the way it works is you right click on a sign and it keeps moving forward. You right click again to stop it. You can also make it consume fuel if you want, but it is not required.
If you would like to try the alpha release, PM me and I'll get it to you. Please report back any bugs you find if you do want to try the alpha

Posted Oct 19, 2013I don't know the effect of Loraxe's changes, however the previous system was designed to do all heavy lifting asynchronously. This meant that there should have been no noticeable lag on any modern machine, apart from possible internet choking on the updates.
I am unsure if the new processing logic has changes this.

I did some tests on an old Centrino 1.6 ghz processor machine I had. Thats a pretty bad processor for running a server, only 1 core, no hyperthreading. Anyway, if you restrict people to smaller ships (what we call Airskiffs on my server) there is less then 10% increase in processor load or memory consumption on average compared to just the minecraft server by itself. When I tied a big 6000 block ship, it did indeed choke.
Fortunately the plugin is highly customizable. So just restrict people to craft sizes no bigger than, say, 1000 blocks and you will be fine. The Airskiffs I tried were between 160 and 250 blocks in size. They had no problems.
EDIT: To get a feel for what size ships I'm talking about, take a look at this video. The blue fighters in the second half of this video were 160 blocks in size, the big grey warship is 6000 blocks, and the black fighters were 25 blocks in size.

Posted Oct 19, 2013How much server resources does this normally take up? What specifications did you test it on? I love the look of it but I'm thinking that it will destroy my server.
