More Mobs
You think the default mobs of Minecraft are boring? Check out this plugin and you will get an adventure! More Mobs is a easy to use plugin to get more mobs into your server.
Installation, Configuration, and Use
Configuration file includes settings for the wraith's soul-reaping setup and also for the percent chances for mob spawning. A new feature in 3.0 is the ability to bind which type of mob a more mob spawns based off of, but that is explained in the configuration itself. The commands are /moremobs and /setWraithHell. /moremobs is used for spawning the moremobs, so for instance /moremobs giant would spawn a giant at the block where you are looking. /setWraithHell allows you to set the location where the victims of wraiths get sent when they die.
Mobs
| Picture | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
![]() | Wraith | This is the wraith. He wanders the overworld, looking for souls to reap. Should he ever hit you with his sickle, your soul will be ripped from your body and you will wake up in "hell" (the nether), or alternatively the world and coordinates of your choice. If your players are wimps and they whine about getting sent to the nether all the time, you can disable soul-reaping in the config file and the wraith will just behave like a regular zombie. The wraith idea came from Thrystor, so credit to him. Also, thanks a lot to Striante, whose PrettyScaryLib provided the code that made the wraith possible! |
![]() | Giant Zombie | This is the Giant Zombie. he's been part of the game code since Alpha, but never actually appeared in game! isn't that a shame. At any rate, he's here now! He can be found anywhere regular zombies spawn, but is much rarer. He has a lot of hearts, but is much friendlier than his smaller zombie cousins and only attacks you if you hit him first. Even when he attacks you, he can't reach down far enough with his arms, so he will just try to step on you! dodge those feet! |
| Giant Slime | You thought those regular large slimes were big, right? Wrong! With MoreMobs, you have a 1/100 chance of a slime spawning HUGE! These monsters have ridiculously high health and are very difficult to kill. Other than being MASSIVE, they behave just like regular Slimes. and the best part? they split into 2-4 smaller slimes when they die! and those split! and those split! WARNING:by the time you manage to entirely kill this thing, your sword might break! | |
| Giant Magma Cube | What's a Giant Slime without some giant lava slimes as well? Yes, ladies and Gentlmen: it's a giant magma cube. All the properties of the giant slime, plus it jumps 10 blocks in the air! | |
| Herobrine Blocks | On dark and stormy nights, the evil Lord Herobrine emerges from his lair... Some nights, when he's feeling particularly evil, he casts spells on blocks and makes them do his bidding. These blocks, now filled with Herobrine's evil spirit, rise out of the ground and begin floating around, looking for players to land upon and suffocate. Most of the time they pick up another block beside them to use as a weapon. A picture doesn't really do this mob justice; In this picture it just looks like a couple floating grass blocks. Let me assure you; it moves, it turns, it attacks.... BEWARE :) | |
| PigChest | This delightful, adorable little creature will carry your items for you. Simply right click a pig with a storage minecart to put the minecart on his back. He'll carry it around for you in a very humorous fashion- it'll wobble around and look for all the world like it's going to slip off, but it never does. He will follow a carrot on a stick, so if you get 2 or 3 of these guys they would make long-distance travel very easy. | |
| Baby Zombie | Tiny and adorable, this little zombie child nevertheless packs a punch attacking. In future versions he will be tamable, like a wolf. |

you can set the spawn chances in the config to be 50%- that way they spawn just as much as the regular mobs do.
@Thrystor
I was planning to do the herobrine blocks with falling blocks, but I actually found a lot easier way to do it- Invisible skele + block helmet + block in hand.

Posted Jan 25, 2013I have a suggestion. I'm looking for a plugin that adds more spawners to the world that will spawn the Wither and the Enderdragon throughout my world... I'm working on making a really hard server and this would be just amazing! Why should they just be bosses? Why not they just be normal mobs? spawning regularly like spiders, skeletons, and creepers? Could you add this idea to your plugin? That'd be sweet!
with Monster Box, I can manually place a spawner and set it to spawn enderdragon or wither, but this takes too long, and I have a whole WORLD to fill with these spawners... that would take forever...

Posted Jan 24, 2013If your still looking for a way the wisp can attack, you could make it attack somewhat like a witch.

Custom mobs would be cool. It would also be nice if herobrine-block-griefing could be disabled. And wasn't the original plan for Herobrine-blocks to make them suffocate you? I think Herobrine blocks should spawn as hordes of grass or stone fallingblocks, and only spawn near a player in a low light area. Then you could set the fallingblocks' velocity to make them "leap" towards the player. When a block lands, it would check if it is within .2 blocks of the player. If it isn't, the block is destroyed after 2 seconds and a new fallingblock appears and hops towards the player again. Once the player gets too far away or dies all of the blocks would despawn. To kill the blocks the players would have to mine them within the 2 seconds that they are on the ground.

Known, known, and known. Well, actually, the towny thing explains a lot. I have fixed that in the next update, though.
@Debzy86
I can't make entirely new mobs due to the limitations of bukkit. Oblivius is working on giving our mobs custom sounds and drops, which will make them a bit cooler, but it's simply impossible to make a true new mob using server side mods.

Posted Jan 23, 2013I do mean passive mobs :) If you can make a plugin equiv of the mo' creatures mod it would rapidly become one of the most popular plugins on here I would think! There's a high demand for it but it can't be used on bukkit servers without all players downloading the mod as well x

Posted Jan 23, 2013Hi, found a few glitches not sure if you know about them. 1) Zombies are replaced by Wraiths. 2) heroblocks are prevented by towny, but not completely, they spawn but die right away, causing lots of random blocks disappearing in towns. 3) Wraiths have all same sounds as zombies, they drop rotten flesh.
I love the plugin, would be great if they could be proper mobs though and not replace current ones.

Additional animals, like passive mobs? We could probably do that. The problem is they're harder to make convincing with the options we have.
@TRaiOdYo
In the future, I hope to add a limited custom mobs configuration system- where you specify a mob's base creature, its armor, its potion effects, its attack, its drops, everything. But that's far away. In the meantime, Oblivius is working on custom drops of a different sort- but more on that later :)

Posted Jan 22, 2013Is there any way to create additional animals using this plugin? I've been looking everywhere but I can only find mods which do this rather than plugins!

I know about that bug... I'm rewriting the whole plugin for version 2, creating a better and easier system, and also a system that makes it easier to eventually support custom mobs. I probably should change the priority..

Posted Jan 22, 2013What event priority do you use? You should be using MONITOR for all of your events, but I've been finding MoreMobs in regions and worlds mobs shouldn't be able to spawn in.

haha, I wish. Well, we got a flying hostile mob with the wisp... maybe an ocean hostile next? Probably not a kraken... I wonder if we could use the new fallingBlock API to create a convincing Sea Serpent...

Posted Jan 21, 2013Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome ObliviusMinecraft to the More Mobs dev team... He will be working on adding new mobs while I concentrate on improving the overall system to add towny/factions/worldguard integration, permissions, and a better user experience. He's already shown me a bit of code that seems really promising - a return of the hellhound could be on the horizon!

Posted Jan 21, 2013@bee2397 (assuming you have windows vista/7)
go to control panel > click add/delete programs > uninstall all java entries in there
After go to https://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp for Normal 32-bit java OR you can use http://jdk7.java.net/download.html for Newer java versions . When using the second link click the circle saying you accept the license agreement. Then download the 32 bit JRE and you should be good. If you have a 64 bit machine i would recommend downloading the 64 bit JRE and JDK as well and install it going 32bit JRE > 64bit JRE > 64bit JDK (you can release the 7 in the link to 8 for java 8 downloads which i use)
Whoops didnt see you got it... I'll leave this here just in case anyone else needs it
