MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

Usage
All you have to do is hold an egg (configurable) and left click on the mob you wish to capture. Its really that easy.
/mobc - Displays all command usage
/mobc item - Displays Capture item setting
/mobc clean - Removes data from a spawn egg itemstack.
/mobc projectiles - Displays current projectile settings
/mobc settings [mob type] - Displays settings
/mobc worlds - Displays which worlds MobCatcher is enabled in
/mobc area - displays how many Protection Signs the player is within the radius of
/mobc resetsigndata - Deletes all saved sign data

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

Posted Apr 1, 2013I received this exception a while ago... Possibly because they added the new dispenser things, and you're trying to cast it to a dispenser? Willing to get config if I need to, but I don't think its necessary here. Bukkit 1.5.1 MobCatcher 3.7

Posted Apr 1, 2013I was wondering where i could get the new updated version of bukkit, because whenever I throw an egg, it just starts mass spawning them from the one, and I am not able to catch mobs with eggs.

All the catch permissions default to true, you'll have to negate them in your default group

Posted Apr 1, 2013I have a permissions question. I have PEX and I can't seem to get them to work. Could someone give me a sample if persay i want someone to be able to catch sheep, pigs, and cows, but not zombies, skeletons, and creepers?

It's very difficult to get this working since the safeguard update before a beta build is out. There are too many changes to account for and I simply cannot update for every dev build.
If there are errors in your console I can help you, otherwise there's not much you can do besides downgrade to CB build 2698 and see if that works, or wait for a beta build and a MobCatcher update for that version.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but that's how Bukkit apparently wants it.

No, I dont. I had to wait for an issue in Bukkit to be fixed before I could remove my workaround, which was causing this issue. I don't believe it will work with anything prior to 1.5.

Posted Mar 27, 2013ok i know both mobcatcher and craftbukkit have to be running the same version with that being said i downloaded mobcatcher 3.7 and downloaded the latest cb build (build 2717) but its not working persay, it loads and you can use the /mobc commands but you cant capture any mobs, im in creative mode so i spam eggs till the mobs die

I looked at the terminal as I threw eggs, and couldn't find any error messages. I'll tell you though, sometimes it seems like if I throw an egg directly at a chicken with the plugin installed, the egg completely disappears without any particles showing. I'm not sure if I'm seeing it right, but thought I'd mention it. Thanks for replying so quickly!

Are there any error messages in your server console?
I built against an older 1.5 version, so it's possible that there was a change that broke my plugin that I'm not aware of. That's why I don't like updating for dev builds, they're unstable.

Hi Malikk65! This is an awesome plugin. I've used it on my server for quite a while now.
I recently updated to Craftbukkit build #2689 for 1.5.0. When updating, I chose version 3.6 of Mobcatcher, and did not install Vault or Spout. Unfortunately, I can't get Mobcatcher to work! I've tried entering commands, and those work, but I can't seem to capture any mobs. I keep on throwing eggs, but nothing happens. Help? Thanks in advance!

I very adamantly want all of my plugins to work right out of the box for most servers. This is so when someone loads it up for the first time, their first impression is of the plugin working; not configuring and settings up permissions because no one can use it.
I've you're having issues setting up your permissions, I'd be happy to help, but I won't be changing the defaults.

I've not really had much time to be working on this, but I have begun and made progress on Shield support. It's not been a huge priority, since any plugin that stops people from damaging mobs would stop them from being captured. I go back and forth on whether this is even necessary.

Personally, if you havent started, I would prefer you just implement worldguard support because 95% of all people are going to be using it. Not many people are going to be willing to install another plugin (shield) just for region support.

MobCatcher 3.6 is only for CB 1.5-R0.1. Any other version will not work, and the server console should be telling you this on startup/reload.
