MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

Usage
All you have to do is hold an egg (configurable) and left click on the mob you wish to capture. Its really that easy.
/mobc - Displays all command usage
/mobc item - Displays Capture item setting
/mobc clean - Removes data from a spawn egg itemstack.
/mobc projectiles - Displays current projectile settings
/mobc settings [mob type] - Displays settings
/mobc worlds - Displays which worlds MobCatcher is enabled in
/mobc area - displays how many Protection Signs the player is within the radius of
/mobc resetsigndata - Deletes all saved sign data

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

Well When You Throw An Egg it will keep spawning the mob's egg you threw i mean the multiplie and when you try to catch the mob with an egg it dont work? any solutions

I realize that no ones uses the Spout features, but I would imagine there are a pretty good number of servers using the Vault costs.
But if either of those are being used on your server, they aren't instantiated and shouldn't be making any difference for you at all.
If maintaining projects on Bukkit wasn't such a colossal pain in the ass, id be happy to make more forks, but I've just begun on a lite version of the plugin and that's about all I can handle.
The lite version will only have mob data and the simple config, which will probably accomplish what you are wanting.

Have you ever considered breaking the Spout and Vault features into their own companion plugins, MobCatcher-Spout and MobCatcher-Vault, respectively?
According to your metrics only 0.4% of users are using the Spout features. I wonder how many servers are using the Vault features?

Honestly, the whole thing needs a rewrite. It's godawful code and I'm embarrassed anyone has to see it. It was literally the first thing I ever programmed and I've been piling more stuff on top of an unorganized garbage heap for quite some time, lol.
For that reason, I've been reluctant to make it open source or even give it to anyone (staff is obviously looking at it anyways, lol ;) )
I'll make some of the major changes/cleanups I've been wanting to do for a long time, and then get it on github. I'd say you could do it, but lots of stuff that appears like wasted space is actually the duct tape holding the whole plugin together, lol.
I think a high performance, lite version is probably a long time overdue and I'd be happy to start working on one.

I'd like to make a 'high performance' fork of this plugin, I went through the source and I personally felt it was extremely bloated and had stuff that I didn't use but was still loaded anyways. As in metrics, sign persister/data, spout stuff, the complex config.
I would be extremely satisfied if you made a high performance fork, which was just the basic core plugin with a simple config. On all the events the spout check is done which isn't like a big deal, but again unnecessary. I'm a big fan but i'm one of those who is extremely picky with their plugins, (my only excuse would be OCD). If your not interested in making the fork, then i'll see what I can do.

MobCatcher will break every single time a cb class is uses is changed. You can thank Bukkit for that.

it's not compatable with minecraft 1.5.1, cb version 2694, it keeps infinately spawning mobs, I understand that it's a dev build but i love your plugin, would you please update to 1.5.1

Posted Mar 17, 2013I found a bug: by using a custom skull, they get on, if you catch it, the skull get changed to an skeletonskull and not the custom skull anymore :/, plz fix it, i want many zombie me's :)

This glitch happens when a class can't be found because you're using an incompatible version of craftbukkit. I built against CB #2646, so it's possible that even without a beta or rb version change, they moved something that's causing an issue.
This is why I typically wait to update until at least a beta build, but more people than usual were asking.
I would say either switch to build 2646 or wait until I upload a more recent version, later today.
EDIT: Actually, everythings working just fine for me, running MobCatcher 3.6 on CB 2654. With that issue tho, I can almost guarantee you that there's errors. Make a ticket and I'll figure out what's going on, but there's nothing I can do until I hear back from you.

3.6 has caused infinite mobs to spawn after an egg has been thrown. I had to remove it from my server. I've seen this glitch a few versions back as well. I'm running the CraftBukkit latest dev edition.
