MobCatcher
MobCatcher
Capture mobs and get eggs legitimately:
Version: 3.18
This project has moved over to SpigotMC!
Thank you guys so much for all the downloads on BukkitDev. Head on over to SpigotMC to download the latest version of MobCatcher.
This page will no longer be updated.
MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

If you can't figure it out, I'd just wait for the next release. I'm in the process of redoing the permissions system from scratch.
You can find all the nodes for the current system here. http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/mobcatcher/pages/permissions-nodes/

Posted Oct 12, 2012Just so you guys know, the next version is well on its way. I know it's awhile overdue, but I've been waiting for a new RB.
The main thing I'm tackling is an entirely new permissions system, which is an absolutely HUGE undertaking. Every single class has to be checked and updated for the new permissions and the plugin.yml has to be completely redone.
Aside from permissions, I'll be doing a lot of bug fixing and getting to some way overdue tickets.
Rewriting the permissions system leaves a LOT of room for error. All of the nodes need to be typed exactly the same both in the code and in the plugin.yml. If some of you would like to help me get the next release out faster and could help me test, that would be really awesome. There's just no way I can check all of my bug fixes and get around to testing all of the new permissions nodes. I'm not asking you to test every node, I'm just asking that you setup everything like you want it, and let me know if you have any problems. Just leave a message here and I'll PM you with a dev build once there's enough there for you to test.
Thanks guys

Posted Oct 10, 2012@Malikk65, would you mind updating the plugin.yml in the next version to include these lines?
Utilities such as PluginManager work much better if the version number contained only the number. The other fields can be pulled in as long as they are named appropriately.
Thanks,
LHammonds

I'm currently rewriting the whole permissions system. The current system works, or at least it used to work, but is kinda a crap shoot as far as groups go.
Should be an update within the week, definitely by next weekend.

Make a ticket. Likely, you're using a newer version of bukkit than this plugin was developed for, and the reflection used on the obfuscated code no longer matches up.
The most recent build says CB 1.3.1-R1.0, if that's not what you're using then you should be expecting bugs.

Posted Oct 1, 2012How can you make the default where no one can do anything with this plugin, but their group needs permission for it...
It looks like nothing is working since I can't turn off at least some groups for this...

Posted Sep 30, 2012Any chance on making it so when u catch a zombie/skeleton/pigzombie etc, they'll act like a wolf? Follow you around, and attack what ever you attack? And allowing certain mobs/subtypes only?
Also is there a configurable thing to prevent dropping the captured mobs, and make it so you can only carry a certain number of eggs?
So kinda like a pokemon thing
But i'd say a flag shield, cause i really don't know how the sign would work....

It is for me as redstone isn't used a lot on my server, thus for popular things like villagers I create a high price for them which drives up the price for redstone.
Thanks, ticket made.

There's an option in the config file to stop saving data for each capture, but to make the eggs stack.

Not sure why its necessary to go over 64, but I suppose i can make that change.
You should make a ticket so I don't forget. The next release should be massive, as I haven't updated in awhile.

Posted Sep 29, 2012Got a problem that has seemed to come up recently (not sure when it changed), if I set the amount of items (in my case redstone) that it costs to catch a mob above 64 players aren't able to catch a mob as the plugin tells them they don't have enough of it even though their inventory is full of it. So it seems that the plugin looks for the item it cost in one stack and instead of their entire inventory...

Posted Sep 26, 2012Thanks for creating and sharing this plugin.
I have verified that MobCatcher 2.19.1 works without problem on CraftBukkit 1.3.2-R0.1 with Windows 7 64-bit and Ubuntu Server 12.04 64-bit on Java 1.7u7 64-bit. Was also using bPermissions 2.9.23
No console errors and was able to capture every mod encountered (except those slippery enderman)
EDIT 2012-10-03: Works in CB 1.3.2-R1.0 too.
Thanks, LHammonds

You can disable the plugin in any world in the config file, however all this does is make spawn eggs behave as normal, this doesn't stop them from working.
There are other plugins that actually stop the usage of spawn eggs, assuming they cancel the interact event and not the actual spawn, they should be compatible with MobCatcher and that's probably your best bet.
