MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

Usage
All you have to do is hold an egg (configurable) and left click on the mob you wish to capture. Its really that easy.
/mobc - Displays all command usage
/mobc item - Displays Capture item setting
/mobc clean - Removes data from a spawn egg itemstack.
/mobc projectiles - Displays current projectile settings
/mobc settings [mob type] - Displays settings
/mobc worlds - Displays which worlds MobCatcher is enabled in
/mobc area - displays how many Protection Signs the player is within the radius of
/mobc resetsigndata - Deletes all saved sign data

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

yeah, i had thought that was an issue, but i wasn't sure what to do about it. Since there's no way to associate it with a player, as it is now, dispensers always have free captures, minus the egg. But yeah, i could probably add a check to see if the item cost is in the dispensers inventory. I've not dealt with that type of inventory before, but it seems to me like it should work.

I see you added dispenser, but i had something else in mind :D If dispenser has a egg and 5 redstone in it or something like that it can shoot the egg at a mob and catch it

Posted May 4, 2012Is there any way to set a metaID of an item you want to use? Currently, lapis lazuli has no real use, so I figured it would be a perfect candidate for use in this plugin. Alas, it is a dye and requires a meta ID to work.

Probably eventually. I'm working on a couple other much bigger projects and adding a bunch of individual nodes is a bit tedious.
I'm not usually this blunt, but if its a big enough deal for you to donate, I could get it done sooner rather than later. Once finals are over i'll have a bit more time.

You don't need to change that. All you need to do is assign either a positive (mobcatcher.can-catch) or a negative (-mobcatcher.can-catch) node to whatever groups you are wanting to disable/enable in whatever permissions plugin you use. The default is only used if you don't specify anything for that node.

Posted May 2, 2012Awesome plugin. Great utility, really popular with players, and very configurable for admins.
I have a small feature request however. Could you please add another set of "mobcatcher.no-mobname" permissions for the remaining peaceful mobs?
I have tied the use of mob capture to specific Jobs on my server (Farmer and Woodsman). I would like to restrict Woodsman so he can only capture wolves and ocelots, and Farmer all the rest. I'd also like to give another job the ability to capture Mooshrooms specifically.

they have the same data values, their data is saved by enchantments. But I had to remove the stackability so that the enchantments arent copied over if you stack the eggs.
