MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

Usage
All you have to do is hold an egg (configurable) and left click on the mob you wish to capture. Its really that easy.
/mobc - Displays all command usage
/mobc item - Displays Capture item setting
/mobc clean - Removes data from a spawn egg itemstack.
/mobc projectiles - Displays current projectile settings
/mobc settings [mob type] - Displays settings
/mobc worlds - Displays which worlds MobCatcher is enabled in
/mobc area - displays how many Protection Signs the player is within the radius of
/mobc resetsigndata - Deletes all saved sign data

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

Hearing about air, I think this ticket from a fellow Dev might help: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/grief-prevention/tickets/471-tries-to-drop-air/ It is about a mechanic in Spigot that reports empty inventory slots as material Air, if that is the case, I hope to have helped MobCatcher's devs.

By default some permissions are given to everybody; try negating the mobcatcher.catch.* for your default group, if you want help with that state your permissions plugin.

Posted Jan 11, 2014There is something wrong with the way permissions work. I only gave the mobcatcher.catch.* permission to one group (VIP) but somehow all groups can use the permission. (Including the default rank)

use /f flag warzone or /f flag safezone monsters no. That has worked for me on peaceful/hostile mobs.
Also with worldguard use /region flag {region} mob-spawning deny.

You need to be running the 1.7.2-R0.2 Beta build, which is number 2974. I'm not sure what you're using, but all that nonsense after the basic version number is why that message is still appearing.
I've already received reports that setting the costs to zero doesnt work as it should anymore and I am working on it.

Posted Jan 8, 2014I'm running Bukkit-1.7.2-R0.2-3-g530fcb7-b2978jnks, and MobCatcher v3.14, but still receive the "You are not running the correct version of Craftbukkit for this version of MobCatcher.... MobCatcher v3.14 is intended to be run on CB 1.7.2-R0.2" message.
On my server, I don't require that a player have any item (other than an egg) to capture a mob. My config currently says-
PeacefulMobs: ItemName: redstone dust ItemID: 331 Amount: 0
Although it is requiring that the player have redstone dust in their inventory. It's not taking the dust when they capture the mob, but it's requiring that they had it. I tried changing the item name to Egg, and the id to the egg ID, and this works until you're down to your last egg. Once you throw the last egg, it says you do not have the required 0 Eggs. I also tried removing the itemname, but this caused the plugin not to work at all. Any ideas?

Posted Jan 6, 2014You say your Metrics code is correct, but like Schlutteh mentions, I see this too. This is the only plugin that has a Metrics issue on our server. I am happy to disable this though if that is the solution you recommend.

Unless metrics changed something it should be correct. I've had that code in place and working with no issue for over a year. It's currently not having any issues on my server, so i don't know what to say.

My Metrics code is correct. If for whatever reason your server can't connect to the metrics database just opt out in your metrics config file.

[Metrics] Server returned HTTP response code: 502 for URL: http://mcstats.org/report/MobCatcher
Even though functionally I get no real errors.

Posted Jan 4, 2014I have the mob catcher plugin installed and I changed the config. It's set to 100% and it requires a regular egg and 5 redstone to capture a mob. When I go to capture a mob it makes the noise and uses the egg and redstone but t never gives the mob egg and it just disappears. Someone please help.

Theres a ticket on the dispenser issues and I'm working on them. The stackability of the eggs is like that on purpose. Data is saved to each egg to preserve the attributes of each mob. If I made the eggs stack, this data would be erased. If you wish, you can disable this feature in your config and the eggs will stack like normal.

1. Eggs fired from Dispensers don't change to mobs 2. Eggs fired from Dispensers aren't able to be Picked up 3. Eggs crafted aren't stackable anymore
