MobCatcher
MobCatcher
Capture mobs and get eggs legitimately:
Version: 3.18
This project has moved over to SpigotMC!
Thank you guys so much for all the downloads on BukkitDev. Head on over to SpigotMC to download the latest version of MobCatcher.
This page will no longer be updated.
MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

Ignore the morons demanding you get things done on their time schedules and save yourself a lot of irritation. You are doing great work.
If they want it so badly they can go code it themselves.

No one is happy either way and I'd rather not soil my reputation with another half ass release. You can use 1.6.1 or 1.5.2 with MobCatcher 3.11 like LEOcab said, or you can wait.
This issue right now is that I've partially implemented horses, so some things are saved while others will be totally lost when you capture it, which is not acceptable for me. It would be MORE work and a waste of time for me to stop what I'm doing and make a no-horses version for 1.6.2 than it would be to simply continue working and get a horses-supported version released sooner.
Keep in mind ALL of the 1.6.2 builds are dev builds. The current RB is for 1.5.2. The RB is the stable version that Bukkit intends for everyone to be using. Updating for every dev build is ridiculous and shouldn't be the standard set for this community.
With that said, I love to be ahead of the game and start adding features for you guys as soon as I can. I'm working on this HOBBY everyday trying to get a release out for you guys. Cut me a little slack.
That was not entirely directed at you, mhzct. That's directed at a lot of people.
If you guys want to encourage a dev to just push a little further and work just a few more hours to get the progress that you are waiting for sooner, a little donation goes a long way.
Thanks guys, and try to be patient.

I dunno bout you but id rather have a version that is not fully perfect yet, that may not even support horses at all, but still works for 1.6.2 because I seriously miss this plugin and do not particularly care about getting horses in it

To everyone who wants a 1.6.2 version: Downgrade your servers to 1.6.1. There aren't that many changes in 1.6.2. MobCatcher is worth more to me than the bugfixes in 1.6.2, some of which are useful (like delayed sprinting) but they can wait.

Oh my freaking goodness, I've been working on this for days. It's a lot of work...
If there's a bug, you are using compatible versions of mobcatcher and CB, and you aren't getting a red error message on server startup then make a ticket.

Posted Jul 14, 2013Can you please update it to 1.6.2 because the plugin allows me to spawn wither eggs from a dispenser but then i cant spawn horses or any other mob from dispensers plz fix this bug and make the eggs actually work -_-

This is already possible for the capture item with the current setup; not for the projectiles tho. You can also set a specific name that the capture item must have. If that's not good enough then make a ticket, but that's a super low priority right now.

Posted Jul 14, 2013I want custom CaptureItem and ProjectileCaptures damage ID setting.
Like egg:1000, that is use egg and damage 1000.
Not just use egg:0 for captures.

There's not really anything I can do besides print out a giant multiline red colored error message in the server console... which i did.

Posted Jul 13, 2013Lol, I just updated my server to 1.6.2 and, Things seemed to be running find. Than I went to a players island to find 5000 creepers duplicating on the island. I opened up my console and found that Mob Catcher was to blame, being not the correct version. Let this be a lesson to anyone who thinks they can get away running outdated plugins on updated servers.

No, I released a quick version of 3.11 that was for 1.5.2 (which is still the current RB, people).
@CosmicVoyager
I'm working on it. The horses are a lot of work because there is a lot for me to add and a lot of rewriting to do.
@LEOcab
Thank you, lol

No, he means 1.5.2. He just backported the 1.6.1 version for 1.5.2. The 1.6.2 version is not yet ready. He's working on it, stop pestering the poor guy. XD

I'll be saving everything right down to the contents of their inventories, which is why this update is taking me so long. Right now, I've got it saving their type, variant, color, jump strength, health, age, saddles, and chests. Still got a ways to go tho, lol.
@thomhyoki
It should only be doing that for mobs that have been renamed. If you're using an older version (which I think you are), update. That bug has been fixed.

Posted Jul 12, 2013Hey, I was wondering if there is a way to disable the nametags on the mobs after you use the egg you caught them with, like how it says 'Villager' over a villager's head. I looked for a way to disable the nametags in the config, but I couldn't find an option to do it. There doesn't seem to be a permission node that disallows seeing the nametags either. If you could help it would be great for me and my friends' server, and if there isn't a way to disable it, could you add a way in the next update? Thanks, thom.

Posted Jul 12, 2013Hi, thank you for the great plug in.
I'm excited for the update. =)
Quick question. Will horses retain their attributes when egged? Color, speed, jump - etc?
I know before now - this hasn't been an issue.
