MobCatcher allows players to capture mobs and get the corresponding spawn eggs. This is useful for trading and transporting mobs from player to player or even across worlds. As well as having a configurable capture item, MobCatcher also boasts configurable mob types and item costs per capture, bringing a new economic value to mob types both peaceful and hostile. MobCatcher is able to store and recall mob specific data saved to specific spawn eggs. This means things like capturing and spawning colored sheep, baby animals, and tamed wolves is possible! This is done via a separate .dat file which saves data for each mob and removes it when that mob is spawned.Try it out on your server today!
This plugin collects basic usage information for mcstats.org. You may opt out in the generated pluginMetrics config file.

Usage
All you have to do is hold an egg (configurable) and left click on the mob you wish to capture. Its really that easy.
/mobc - Displays all command usage
/mobc item - Displays Capture item setting
/mobc clean - Removes data from a spawn egg itemstack.
/mobc projectiles - Displays current projectile settings
/mobc settings [mob type] - Displays settings
/mobc worlds - Displays which worlds MobCatcher is enabled in
/mobc area - displays how many Protection Signs the player is within the radius of
/mobc resetsigndata - Deletes all saved sign data

MobCatcher will NOT work if you are not using the version of CB it was intended for. Due to the Bukkit "safeguard' system, MobCatcher will break every version change. Do NOT post tickets or comments about ClassNotFoundExceptions or infinite spawning glitches as these are caused by you using the wrong version.
Before posting a bug, check your server console for a giant red error message.

MobCatcher is only compatible with the specific versions I list it for. Please take the time to check whether or not you are using proper versions of the plugin/cb before submitting bug reports. There should be a multi-line red error message in your console during startup. If you see that message, the plugin likely will not work.

Rank with permissions to catch a mob is not able to catch it. Uses the materials needed (1 egg + 5 redstone) but does not catch it. Instead, throws these errors in console.

We all really appreciate your dedication! Just take your time, the longer you spend on it, the better the outcome will be =) I'd rather prefer a 80% bug-free build, than a build with 80% bugs, lol.
About the inconsistency, I am pretty sure it must be bukkit, as the API is brand new and horses got a lot more aspects to them compared to other mobs.

I've started fully implementing horses and it's turning out to be a lot of work, so I can't really put a timeline on it. Right now, I've got it saving the horse type, color, and markings, but sometimes it just doesn't work, lol. Still a lot of work to be done, considering armor, chests, saddles, and entire inventories...
Also, I'm not sure if it's me or the new horse api, but right now ive got a lot of weird, inconsistent bugs that I'm having a hard time testing. I'll need a few more days to work on it, but once I have the majority of it figured out it would really help me out to have some of you extensively test it.

Ah great, I'll take a look at that. Depends a lot on what they actually added. If that means "horses aren't entirely broken anymore but there's still no hooks for anything" then I still need to wait, lol.
When i updated last, the EntityType.HORSE existed, but if you tried to do ANYTHING with it it threw errors, lol.
EDIT: Looks like it has everything that I need. I'll get to work on this soon. Thanks for the heads up.

Posted Jul 10, 2013@Malikk65 Just letting you know that a lot of us Admins that have been running servers for a long time understand how hard it is with the NMS changes Bukkit made. I also develop plugins from time to time so I know that keeping a great plugin like yours up to date is hard enough.

I would ignore those that are impatient, they don't understand how much work it takes to keep something updated.
Take your time, the safeguard is annoying for many devs it seems.

Posted Jul 9, 2013Oh, I didn't realize these were intentional problems caused by Bukkit, not you. Sorry about that.
On another topic though, I was skimming through the settings and I was wondering if it's currently possible to make it cost XP/levels to capture mobs? If not, is that a possible implementation?

Because I have to use Craftbukkit and NMS code to get some of the things I save, alter stackability, and save ID numbers. Bukkit had the great idea of renaming all of the files as they change them, so if you use any of those files everything breaks. There's nothing I can do about this.

Thanks. It's getting increasingly harder to keep updating this as often as it breaks. IMHO Bukkit's 'safeguard' system does nothing but squash innovation by penalizing plugin devs who choose to think out of the box, rather than stick 100% to the bukkit api. The little support that I do get is what keeps me going. Thanks for being awesome :)

I am trying my best to keep up with this ridiculous update schedule. Please try and be patient. This is a hobby for me, not a paying job. Idk what happened that made this community start demanding updates as soon as the next dev version is released but I'm doing everything that I can.

Posted Jul 9, 2013I play on a server with lots of plugins. I'm completely ok with the pace you are updating at. We are still on 1.6.1 until our devs are happy with bukkits stability / waiting for the essential plugins that run the server to update stably. So I personally love your plugin because i made a petshop using it and chestshop ^.^ So keep going at whatever pace you want, shouldn't matter as long as it's worked on. It'd be sad if the plugin was dropped.
