MineReaper
MineReaper
Time to pay the reaper.
Description
Get more control over the way death works on your server! Give players the luxury of keeping their experience and items when they die, either for free or for a price. Are your players complaining because they lost all their items when killed in PvP? Why not make it so they can keep those items and experience whenever a player kills them? Want to treat your VIP's to a new perk for some donations? Why not allow them to keep their experience and items, FOR FREE? Customize the way your players die in the game, add your own hilarious spin on death using custom death messages! Don't want your players to keep their experience AND their items? Choose which they get to keep for yourself!

Important Note
Version 1.3 includes several permissions and configuration changes where some permissions and configuration options have been removed. We recommend that you delete the config.yml in your MineReaper data folder, and unset your current minereaper permissions.
If you DO choose to use the death tax features of MineReaper, Vault is required along with a valid economy plugin supported by Vault.
You can get vault here: http:dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/vault/
If you DO NOT choose to use the death tax features of MineReaper, Vault is not required.
MineReaper turned off by default. In order to use it, you have to give the minereaper.use permission to any user/group/world you want to have it. If you want to use death taxing, you have to use the appropriate commands found on the commands page to enable those features.
Version 1.3 contains many bug fixes and new additions, it is highly recommended that you use this version or upgrade to it. If you intend to use MineReaper Death Messages, please read the Death Messages Configuration, link located at bottom of page.

Posted Aug 2, 2012MineReaper version 2.0 Beta Testing is coming!
Given that Bukkit bumped R5 just before version 1.3.1 was released, it's time to take a different tact. I am searching for beta testers for MineReaper version 2.0 that meet the following requirement(s):
That list may be subject to change as time draws on. Beta testing will take place in phases, with each phase adding new features to the beta. Previous phase beta testers will always be eligible for the following testing phases. Each phase will draw in more testers for a larger and larger sample pool.
To apply:
Send me a PM with the following details:
Thanks for your consideration, and I do hope you will apply to the closed beta of MineReaper version 2.0!

The ability to change the colors is not implemented yet. It is something I am looking to include in an upcoming version.

Posted Aug 1, 2012I was doing some customization on the death messages, and noticed I can not change the colors. I want to make it so the person who died, his name is red. The person who kill him, his name is gold. However the color hexes just show in chat

Posted Jul 28, 2012Hello all!
Sorry about my silence in the last month, I have had much to do in that time. Many real life changes and well needed vacation were included in that time. I wanted to take some time however, to discuss the future of MineReaper with all of you. Don't worry, version 2.0 is still in the works. However, given Mojang's constant hinting that version 1.3 is imminent, and with it their new API, I have decided to halt production of MineReaper 2.0 temporarily.
It was a difficult decision for me, but much has to be taken into consideration. For starters, 1.3 is a major version change, and Bukkit will need to update to accommodate it accordingly. That means that there could be a major revision of code in Bukkit 1.3 and with Bukkit's recent announcement of going full swing into their project, I am hesitant to continue until I see what is around the bend. I have spent nearly a month now coding 2.0, and my fear is, that shortly after releasing 2.0, 1.3 will be released and throw MineReaper into chaos.
With that having been said, I am considering picking the code from the current version back up and coding some changes into it for all of you to hold everyone over until MineReaper v1.3. That includes the permanent resolution of the 'data folder not being created' issue. yay! It would also include some other small requests that have been made since the release of the latest version. Anyway, I've gotta go for now, but until next time "LONG LIVE DA REAPAH!". <
Lol I am so cheesy!-

Well I've certainly got an interest in that feature! In fact, that would be amazing :D However, I know that requires time and effort, so even the log file would be awesome.

Sure I can do that. I am considering for the future, creating a web page format that will read logs like this and allow users to easily build a CSS framework around it for their website, and include a death certificate type page. But I have yet to see any interest in such a feature so presently I am holding back on that. But a mere log should not be a problem.

Posted Jul 24, 2012This plugin is seriously great :D If I may suggest one thing, though, it's that you include a log file in the plugin folder, since the console doesn't actually show the death announcements or times. If you could do this, this would truly be one of my favorite plugins out there ^^

In the next version MineReaper will hopefully become compatible with Mob Arena, but for the time being it is not compatible. At present this is one of the issues holding back the new version, and at this time frankly seems to not be possible. However I have yet to take a look at Mob Arena's API, if one exists, which may allow MineReaper to ignore players that die in the arena.

Hey sorry I was out of town and literally just walked in the door and checked my e-mail. What version of MineReaper are you using? In the latest version, the issue with data folders not being created was resolved. The plugin actually forces data folder creation now, so if it is still not doing it then I would say it is not the plugin. I will browse the developer forums to be sure, but as of right now MineReaper is actually triple checking that the data folder gets created, I really can't add any more redundancy than that.

Posted Jul 21, 2012To start off, awesome plugin, I've been using it on my server for the past two or so weeks, and haven't had any problems (that I noticed) until now. I recently had a player complain that all of their items were missing after leaving the mob arena. Mob arena has a build it function that gives the player back their inventory when they die in the arena, unfortunately, when they die, they end up keeping the items that they had in the mob arena, and lose the items they had prior to entering the arena. this is the exact mob arena plugin I am using (the unofficial update):
http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/fun-mobarena-v0-94-3-24-become-a-mob-fighting-gladiator-1337.19144/
Please fix the bug! I've had to disable the MineReaper plugin because of it!

If you know how to compile Java then you should be able to find the pre-ordained colors that you mention in MineReaperDeathMessages.class. Good luck!

Posted Jul 15, 2012Could you make it so the enemy isn't automatically green, and the weapon isn't automatically purple? I'm trying to set up colors for my server's death messages, but the default settings override my custom settings. Or could you at least add an option to the config that allows you to choose whether the default colors take precedence?
If you could add that in the next update, that'd be awesome. For now, could you just tell me what I need to change in the minereaper.jar to get rid of the default colors?
Edit: turns out the player alias is also red by default... This is really inconvenient :/ If you could please get back to me as soon as you see this, that would be great.

I wouldn't even know how to do that unfortunately. Bukkit doesn't distinguish between the two, they are treated the same. So far I haven't found a way to get the damage and decide...hmmm...is this lightning or fire?
