MineralManager
Mineral Manager
This plugin is designed to allow server administrators to have tighter control over their server's economy as well as introduce new and interesting experiences for their players. MineralManager is the second generation of the MineralVein plugin; with improved performance, customization, control, and reliability it makes a big jump forward from the original concept.
This plugin works by allowing specified blocks to regenerate after they've been broken. From Cactus to Diamond, from Dirt to Logs, admins can control which blocks are allowed to respawn, where they're allowed to respawn, and what should take their place when they're broken. This plugin also allows for a bit of randomness in its regeneration by using a degradation parameter that causes blocks to sometimes forgo respawning when they're broken.

You can do anything from creating public mines near spawn filled with iron and coal that never breaks so new players get started quicker to having secret forests that regenerate completely after enough time as passed. Diamonds would become something for your players to guard and protect rather than something to find, mine and move on. An innocent patch of grass could even have gold ore hidden inside. The possibilities are endless and the excitement is contagious! Make your server unique and fun with this easy, yet intricate plugin.

Oh, and... By the way, what is clay_brick? I'm assuming it's not a clay block, (clay_block doesn't work) and I don't believe it's brick block (because brick_block doesn't work).
Thanks

That's great! Thanks a lot :) It's also good to know it wasn't my bad configuration that was the problem!
Just like to say it again, this is a great plugin and is a perfect plugin for a feature of my server.
Cheers :)

Thank you so much! It's great to hear that people are enjoying using this plugin, it makes developing it worth it! :)
You will be able to manage more blocks in the next release (hopefully sometime this weekend). The full list of blocks you can currently manage is listed below.
So, look forward to the next release and you can add those mushrooms! Haha :)

Posted Apr 21, 2012This is a great plugin and I've been using it in development of my server. However, I was wondering whether you can add mushrooms to the list. I know you SHOULD be able to as it describes in the description, however when I add BROWN_MUSHROOM and RED_MUSHROOM and do it in the same format it never works. Can anyone help? Thanks a lot!

There is a very good possibility that future versions will support a wider variety of blocks! The main reason I didn't is because I didn't really think there would be a demand for it, haha. :)
I'll add this to the list of requested features and hopefully you'll see this implemented sometime soon!
@BtBtDev
The pickaxe thing was implemented to stop people from being able to harvest materials without the right quality of pickaxe. i.e. punching a diamond block and getting diamonds from it. I'm sure I can figure out a way to make it work with all blocks though! :)

Oh okay I actually didn't know about the pickaxe thing =o
Yes this plugin is pretty legit... though the ability to regenerate a wider variety of blocks would be a really useful and interesting function.
@altswang Exactly :P

This plugin currently only supports the following blocks
As well as only supports breaking blocks with the correct quality of pickaxe.
If you're interested in managing other types of blocks I could certainly look into adding additional support for other block types! :)
@BtBtDev
Thanks for the feedback! I think that's a great way to implement the region commands :)

Posted Apr 19, 2012Oh also, for future region selection you could do...
/min addr start /min addr end
Where start and end gets your co-ordinates where you are standing.
This would be users wouldn't have to type in the co-ordinates, although having support for both commands would be nice :)

Posted Apr 19, 2012How do I regenerate other blocks besides ores...
I tried to regenerate leaves and sugar-cane but they don't appear to be coming back...
I just use the item id right? (p.s. does this support block data)?
Thanks for reading

That's a definite possibility! It most likely won't be release for a while however due to current projects and finals coming up. Most likely you can expect to see multi-world support in version 1.4! I'm sorry this feature won't be available sooner, but I'll announce when you should start looking forward to it! :)

Posted Apr 18, 2012Hey! :)
Any multiverse (multiworld) support in near future on plan?:) I mean, i can set values for each world. And also possible to turn off MineralVein in certain world.
This option would be great (Y)

It's on the way!
Quick question for anyone who is looking forward to region support.
How would you like to declare managed regions?
Right now I'm thinking...
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Yea, this is a big possibility when you don't use the mineOriginalOnly setting! It's crazy seeing people with hundreds of iron blocks all around their house!
Definitely a good warning for people using this plugin! Thanks! :)
@Quezax
Whoa! I hadn't even seen that! That's a huge mistake on my part. When I first made my plugin I searched for "MineralVein" and nothing came up so I assumed the name was free. I didn't think to try separating "Mineral" and "Vein" in the search field.
I got the idea for the name from playing runescape and since the objects you mine in that game are called "ore veins" I ended up with the current name. I might just change it to "Ore Vein" instead to avoid any further confusion.
Sorry for any trouble this has caused, I appreciate you letting me know! :)

Posted Apr 16, 2012Thanks for naming your plugin the same as an already existing plugin! You might want to consider changing your name as the other one is more about mineral veins instead of just respawning ore.

Posted Apr 16, 2012Hey that's great and i appreciate your info but if you think about your response it does'nt make a lot of sense. A person would'nt know it needed to be adjusted until they seen something like this happen! Then yes they could make the proper adjustments. Most people assume they can drag, drop and go which is not always the case. I'm very happy for your server and economy but maybe you notice i never said my economy was'nt stable. Heck i have casinos and lottery an what not people have money, i like making my players feel wealthy but i was in turn warning new people to this plugin to just be careful until they get a feel for whats up. Got it? Maybe read the comment and evaluate all necessary information like maybe asking had i made adjustments instead of just assuming that i have massively failed at my attempt with this plugin. That's the problem with You people and im gonna say you people because im gonna ASSUME just as you did. Have a nice day!

It's not easy to exploit. You just haven't configured it properly.
You can change how long each block takes to spawn, and how many times (roughly) it can be mined.
If there are players 'stockpiling' ores, then you haven't configured it right!
My server has almost 100 players, and our economy is very stable using this.

Posted Apr 16, 2012I recommend to anyone using this to keep an eye on your players with this then adjust settings! This is very easy to exploit! i had a player mining ores than making stockpiles of them and he would just keep mining them and selling them dirt cheap!

Hmmm... well it seems the problem is that I only have the blocks save their state to file when the server is shutdown properly. I'll look into having them save at constant intervals that server admins can specify. I'll also make an option to write the activeBlocks whenever a block is mined for full protection. :) For now, try not to let your server crash!
