Development builds of this project can be acquired at the provided continuous integration server. These builds have not been approved by the BukkitDev staff. Use them at your own risk. This link has been removed because Bukkit doesn't like Github as a CI server.
Minecraft: The Last Airbender is a Minecraft plugin for a Bukkit server. It is designed for Survival Multiplayer, and allows players to choose an element to bend as the benders do in the world of Avatar (the stage of Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra).
Some quick notes: I will warn you that you will not be able to do everything they do in the show. There are limitations both in Minecraft and in Bukkit that prevent such extravagance. In the details of each discipline you can see exactly what you can do. As such, the description of the bending disciplines is a little altered to reflect their role in the world of Minecraft: The Last Airbender.
Features
- Play as a bender and choose which type you would like to be.
- Battle other users and see who is the best of the best.
- Compatible with WorldGuard, Factions, PreciousStones, GriefPrevention, and CreeperHeal. (Many more plugins will be added to this list)

Bending
Users may bend water, earth, fire, air, or can go with being a chiblocker.. You may pick which type of bender you would like to be with the command: /bending choose [water/air/earth/fire/chi]. You may only choose one, with the exception of the Avatar, and you may never change it so be careful in your decision.
Waterbending
- Specializes in maneuverability in and on the water.
- Oceans are perfect for water benders.
- Techniques range from shooting water that do damage, freezing lakes, or even pushing enemies back with powerful waves.
- This bending style is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Water bending opens up many options in bodies of water that are otherwise closed to the other disciplines.
Earthbending
- Specializes in manipulating the earth around them.
- Any area which contains land is perfect for earth benders.
- They have the abilities to pull columns straight up from the earth, drill their way through any mountain and launch themselves through the air.
- This bending style, like water bending, is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Earth benders do not take fall damage as long as they land on the ground.
Firebending
- Specializes on destruction and incineration.
- Any environment, besides on any bodies of water, is perfect for them.
- They may create rings of fire on the ground, shoot lines of fire, and even create exploding fireballs.
- This bending style is pure offensive, and very little mobility/defense.
- Fireball is the only ability they may use that does not require any solid ground beneath them.
Airbending
- Specializes in mobility & defense.
- The land is the ideal place for airbenders, although they may also bend over the water.
- Bending air allows you to use wind to blast things away, forming a shield of air around you, or using a tornado to lift you, or your opponent, off of their feet.
- This bending style is perfect for pacifists and explorers for they lack any raw damage output, but make up for it with their utility and speed.
- Choosing air as your element increases your overall speed, decreases the rate of hunger and disables fall damage.
Chi Blocking
- Specializes in bare handed combat.
- Move faster, jump higher, take less fall damage.
- Can block someones chi, stopping them from Bending for a short period of time.
- Abilities range from Higher Jumps, Faster Punches, and Paralysis of enemies.
HELP! It's not working!
This is a Bukkit plugin, not a single player mod. It will never be a single player mod. Go to the Bukkit Wiki to set up your own server. You can play on it just like you would single player, and it requires nothing more than setting it up.
If anything is not working, look around for a development build of Bending.
Development progress
School has picked back up, so plugin development will be very intermittent at best. I've done away with the ordered releases, and will most likely be keeping 1.0.7 the "official" version until I release it as 1.1.0. It's a jump, I know, but if I were forced to stick to a schedule, the plugin would never get done. This is because there are things I like coding and want to code now, and I shouldn't have to wait just because I have something else planned for the version.
As such, there is no ETA on the release. The dev build will of course be updated as I add features, but 1.1.0 will only be officially released when everything is completed, and that could take a very long time.

you have a good point. i guess i just want to players to see it as a special thing. they only get the attack moves when they finally become masters of the element so at that time they need a little help on power. but thats just for our server. on any other i think the plugin by default is great

I completely agree with you on how obnoxious armor can be, however I don't see any reason to change it. I don't know why bending should penetrate armor. It's no more imbalanced than comparing sword fighting to sword-fighting with armor.

Upgrade to the latest dev build, WaterSpout wont work in the newest dev build though, but most bending commands can be used from console now.

Use something to disable armor? Or make the attacks stronger, either one should work.

Posted Aug 3, 2012Hey first off i really really love this plugin. I feel like it is making our brand new server alot more fun to play on. We have also implemented it into our factions and having them trained by 4 greek mythology gods to gain more moves. so thank you for what ur doing.
i do have a question that i hope someone can answer. By default i feel the elements are fairly balanced against each other. and the amount of damage done by attacks is also managed pretty well. But after a few tests today we reolized that once your enemy puts on armor. especially diamond armor, the attacks of the bending really dont hurt the enemy. especially if your an airbender.
so my question is how can i make bending more useful. should i raise the damage of the attacks or do something else? please help. thanks

This was added a while ago, in 1.0.6, or any dev build after that. In the config set earthbending to revert, the time is in milliseconds I believe. If you need any help, ask :)

Posted Aug 3, 2012I have a idea that may/may not be easy to implant, my server runs this plugin and I have noticed that the earth benders REALLY mess up the landscape, do you think you could add a time limit that causes earthbended pillars to sink back into the ground after say 2-5 minutes?

1) That's a good idea.
2) Passive skills do not work in non-bending areas, that I can guarantee. I don't see why waterbenders shouldn't receive messages about the moon coming up in an area that's protected from bending.
3) The thing is, moon phases themselves are client-side, you quoted things from vanilla minecraft, but a simple texture pack changes that (heck you don't even need to have a moon). Plus, bloodbending will -never- be something that's not for ops, there is NO way to balance it (it was illegal for a reason). And why should waterbenders be weaker in the night (of a new moon) than they are in the day?

Posted Aug 3, 2012Can you make it to where ops and admins can go into the spirit world? I think it would be cool if there was a spirit world and when you go into the spirit world it would turn on freecam, so your body isn't moving but you can fly around and nobody can see you except for your still body.

I have 3 things to say, and I hope I could help you or something else...
1) A suggestion: It could be useful have a custom messages config, maybe for not english servers that would be more comfortable have helps and so on, translated by the server owner...
2) I found and issue in the actual version: the passive skills and the messages (like when comes night to waterbenders) still works in non-bendable areas, and it's a bit annoying.
3) A tip: I noticed that the moon phases changes every night, and the full moon comes once every 8 nights. I just thought that in this mode it can be easily found the full moon night (maybe making the admin use a command in the right night?) and allow waterbenders use (a set number of times) bloodbending. The opposite, when it is the new moon waterbenders would not be able to use even Plantbending, or just reduce gradually their damage. (Ah! And it will be still not-client-side!)

Firebenders are not overpowered. At all. Ask any experienced bender and they'll actually say that Firebending is underpowered, if anything. Especially if we're talking about dev-build firebenders.
Firebenders being stronger in the rain (because of lightning) is something that just seems fundamentally wrong. Even Zuko, trying his hardest, couldn't get lightning in a storm to strike him - I don't see how that could possibly be a reliable ability that's in line with the series.
All of the abilities are done. They are not made or implemented yet, but there will be 9 abilities per element, and I have them all worked out.

WATER: Water whip: Sends a whip like shap of water towards target does 1/2 heart damgage. Ice throw allow the waterbender to throw ice just as earthbenders throw rocks.
AIR: Same thing as Water Whipe except implied with air.
EARTH: StoneFist: Allows hardending of hands to like, pvp with a little stronger attack. Valley I havent though of a name but: Creates a hole or a trench in front of earthbender make player fall in FIRE: Lighting: you already know . FlameSerpent: A very weak attack makes like waterwhipe as well curuves like snake toward target, does little damage but fast regen

Firebenders are getting lightning in a future update, it's a work in progress and doesn't do anything yet. There is a question in the FAQ about waterbenders bending rain. Airbenders are natural pacifists, I doubt they'll get more powerful attacks. Not sure about fire and earth. As far as abilities are concerned I believe they are pretty set in stone, each will have 9 abilities.
Ranks can easily be pulled off, my server has a nice ranking system, it wont be added to this plugin alone. This plugin is not an RPG and will not be an RPG. I'm not a developer of the plugin, I just see these questions asked a lot and feel I could provide a pretty solid answer.
Edit: Just seeing your second comment come in, so here we go with part 2:
There is an Avatar state, you can just bind it if you have the permissions. Firebending can be configured by the server admin to where it isn't as overpowered. If you want portable water, carry around leaves or something like a water bucket. Plantbending does wonders. WaterManipulation power can also be controlled by the server owner (Default is at a multiplier of 4 / 2 Hearts)

Posted Aug 3, 2012Also if there could be some kind of Avatar state for each element, or for a short period of time one becomes the avatar? and for real, firebending is SO over powered, I mean at least keep the firebending moves but add some better powers to the other elements as well! um and add like some kind of thing where u can have protable water maybe? like katar carried that litle thing of it in the cartoon, I also think there should be more waterbending powers, it seems that it is totally unfair for waterbenders but looking at the show.. waterbender are very powerful what I mean is, make a waterbending move that can do alot of damage 3-5 hearts but takes awhile to regen maybe tsunami? I mean a waterbenders strongest move ionly does 2 hearts, not to mention that air gets airbubble to remove water. I would also like to see more airbender powers, Ikd many but try analyzing the cartoons becuase the airbending powers are pretty generic, Anyways fire and earth are strong enough but please focus on adding more power to air and water

Posted Aug 3, 2012Ok these are some new updates I think you really should add, firebenders be able to bend lighting in the rain, more waterbender powers, ah like some kind of move in the rain to, airbenders a more powerful attack, firebenders not so over powered, earthbenders are fine as is, but add in a moving rock kind of thing like a riding on a boulder if possible, even add powerupps like rank ofs to moves, so this way an airbender who has been working real hard ant get shut down by some dumb firebender or earthbender spamming RigOfFire etc, another thing is maybe possibly more elements ahh some other kind of bendings like sand etc like in the cartoon, and make appa :D Listen I know I am asking for a ton of things, but these are just ideas, maybe you may use one or two or none, who knows? :P

Posted Aug 3, 2012Maybe you can add a few soft ultimate moves for the benders, something not too OPed or insane. OR maybe you can try to make some Equalist/ Chi Blocker weapons or skills so it can be WAR! Then we all be friends happily ever after (:
