Dev build
Development builds of this project can be acquired at the provided continuous integration server. These builds have not been approved by the BukkitDev staff. Use them at your own risk. This link has been removed because Bukkit doesn't like Github as a CI server.
Minecraft: The Last Airbender is a Minecraft plugin for a Bukkit server. It is designed for Survival Multiplayer, and allows players to choose an element to bend as the benders do in the world of Avatar (the stage of Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra).
Some quick notes: I will warn you that you will not be able to do everything they do in the show. There are limitations both in Minecraft and in Bukkit that prevent such extravagance. In the details of each discipline you can see exactly what you can do. As such, the description of the bending disciplines is a little altered to reflect their role in the world of Minecraft: The Last Airbender.
Features
- Play as a bender and choose which type you would like to be.
- Battle other users and see who is the best of the best.
- Compatible with WorldGuard, Factions, PreciousStones, GriefPrevention, and CreeperHeal. (Many more plugins will be added to this list)
- Nothing is required client-side
- Permissions support!
Bending
Users may bend water, earth, fire, air, or can go with being a chiblocker.. You may pick which type of bender you would like to be with the command: /bending choose [water/air/earth/fire/chi]. You may only choose one, with the exception of the Avatar, and you may never change it so be careful in your decision.
Waterbending
- Specializes in maneuverability in and on the water.
- Oceans are perfect for water benders.
- Techniques range from shooting water that do damage, freezing lakes, or even pushing enemies back with powerful waves.
- This bending style is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Water bending opens up many options in bodies of water that are otherwise closed to the other disciplines.
Earthbending
- Specializes in manipulating the earth around them.
- Any area which contains land is perfect for earth benders.
- They have the abilities to pull columns straight up from the earth, drill their way through any mountain and launch themselves through the air.
- This bending style, like water bending, is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Earth benders do not take fall damage as long as they land on the ground.
Firebending
- Specializes on destruction and incineration.
- Any environment, besides on any bodies of water, is perfect for them.
- They may create rings of fire on the ground, shoot lines of fire, and even create exploding fireballs.
- This bending style is pure offensive, and very little mobility/defense.
- Fireball is the only ability they may use that does not require any solid ground beneath them.
Airbending
- Specializes in mobility & defense.
- The land is the ideal place for airbenders, although they may also bend over the water.
- Bending air allows you to use wind to blast things away, forming a shield of air around you, or using a tornado to lift you, or your opponent, off of their feet.
- This bending style is perfect for pacifists and explorers for they lack any raw damage output, but make up for it with their utility and speed.
- Choosing air as your element increases your overall speed, decreases the rate of hunger and disables fall damage.
Chi Blocking
- Specializes in bare handed combat.
- Move faster, jump higher, take less fall damage.
- Can block someones chi, stopping them from Bending for a short period of time.
- Abilities range from Higher Jumps, Faster Punches, and Paralysis of enemies.
HELP! It's not working!
This is a Bukkit plugin, not a single player mod. It will never be a single player mod. Go to the Bukkit Wiki to set up your own server. You can play on it just like you would single player, and it requires nothing more than setting it up.
If anything is not working, look around for a development build of Bending.
Development progress
School has picked back up, so plugin development will be very intermittent at best. I've done away with the ordered releases, and will most likely be keeping 1.0.7 the "official" version until I release it as 1.1.0. It's a jump, I know, but if I were forced to stick to a schedule, the plugin would never get done. This is because there are things I like coding and want to code now, and I shouldn't have to wait just because I have something else planned for the version.
As such, there is no ETA on the release. The dev build will of course be updated as I add features, but 1.1.0 will only be officially released when everything is completed, and that could take a very long time.

Posted May 28, 2013A new dev build has been uploaded
In it are several new things - check the commit history for a better idea. Some new things include lighting redirection, lightning and fireball balancing, AirBlast and AirSuction improvements, permission fixes and more.
I will be gone for the next two weeks! If there are issues, I will likely not get to them. If there are no issues, I will probably release this build as v1.1.0 and work on v1.1.1 so that A) the patch notes aren't stupid long and B) people will stop having issues with reading.
Enjoy!

If you do "/b d" and it shows you have it bound, then you are simply using it wrong. Use "/b h watermanipulation" to see how to use it, or google any of the tutorials for waterbending.

There will be a config option called "AllowHarmless" which will allow the admin to choose whether or not harmless abilities are also blocked in no-bending zones.
But I'm saving these config options for when the plugin is more complete. It'll be one of the final things done.

Oh, I thought it would deny everything but passive abilities, which I'm sure are the perks benders get (airbenders not taking fall damage and stuffs)
I really suggest a config option to enable/disable some passive abilities. Something like
Meh, its your plugin. It could really help because for me, the parkour and NoCheatPlus will react to people sprinting/jumping with the passive abilities, but I'm not gonna speak for other people. Sorry for the giant wall of text.

In which case denying building should deny bending. The only bending which isn't denied are the harmless ones, like AirSpout and some passives.

They should get no bonus from the rain, that's not canon.
I cannot spawn water particles, org.Bukkit doesn't have that capability.
I do not have an interest in doing the rain source creation because since waterbenders have bottles and plants and water and snow to bend from, they really don't need yet another source. They have plenty. It's not worth it.
@Incompy
Theoretically, blocking their passive permissions should block the potion effects they get - but I've had issues with that, I don't think it does.
If building doesn't block bending, you probably don't have the dev build. You can check this easily by typing "/b v". If it's not a command, you have the wrong version and are missing out on a lot.

Posted May 27, 2013Is there any way to disable the potion effects applied to airbenders and chiblockers when they sprint? They're having a really hard time with the parkour on my server because of it. If I can't disable it in entirety, can I disable it within a certain region with WorldGuard? Also, denying the build flag doesn't block bending for people. Did I block something that interferes or is it a different flag I need to block?

Posted May 27, 2013I still think waterbenders should get a bonus from stuff like rain. I know it would cost a lot of CPU checking the enviroment and biome every tick but maybe something different.
I was thinking, maybe when a player is selecting a water source block, if they look up at the sky when raining and then select, it will create a source for the bender. It shouldn't use that much CPU, because you only need to check it when they select it.
If you could do that, maybe spawn lots of water particles in the air where they selected. Kind of like what you see when you select a normal source (the smoke) but with water ones.

The dev build of Bending works with all recent versions of Bukkit up to 1.5.2.
@Bca1849
Make sure you have the right permission. In this case, it's specifically "bending.admin.remove".
@Timmyfox
Doing a check every time a waterbender uses a move to see if they're in a non-desert biome and that there are no blocks above them (which rain doesn't go through) is going to take up too much CPU power.
Also, firebenders and waterbenders in the show never got stronger or weaker with rain, aside from natural causes.
And I know about OctopusForm. Thanks.
@Burnett12
Use permissions. You can do per-world permissions with any permissions plugin. Use google.

Posted May 26, 2013You need to add the ability to define which worlds no bending is aloud at all. I have a parkour and games world and the air bender is getting the upper hand in both cases.

Posted May 26, 2013I don't see why allowing waterbenders benefit from rain could be a problem.. (and the opposite for firebenders obviously). Couldn't you simply check for if the player is in the desert or have any blocks above them whilst it's raining?
I'm not too good with coding, so do excuse any possible errors, but here's an example pseudocode..
____
{
While "Downfall=True" && If "Biome != Desert" && If "BlockAboveHead=False"
{
If "Player=Waterbender" } Benefit Else NoBenefit
{
If "Player=Firebender" } Weaken
Else NoChange
}
____
Another thing to note; In the latest dev build it seems like TentacleForm is broken. The description says that I can click when using the move to hit all nearby enemies but nothing happens at all when I click.
The server is running 1.5.2

As I mentioned before, Bukkit cannot check if it is raining in a certain block. Having it check manually would take more processor power than I'm willing to devote for something like this.
Also, Minecraft naturally replenishes snow in snow biomes with downfall.

Take it from me, cooldowns will not help your lag problem. Here is the github link.
