Dev build
Development builds of this project can be acquired at the provided continuous integration server. These builds have not been approved by the BukkitDev staff. Use them at your own risk. This link has been removed because Bukkit doesn't like Github as a CI server.
Minecraft: The Last Airbender is a Minecraft plugin for a Bukkit server. It is designed for Survival Multiplayer, and allows players to choose an element to bend as the benders do in the world of Avatar (the stage of Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra).
Some quick notes: I will warn you that you will not be able to do everything they do in the show. There are limitations both in Minecraft and in Bukkit that prevent such extravagance. In the details of each discipline you can see exactly what you can do. As such, the description of the bending disciplines is a little altered to reflect their role in the world of Minecraft: The Last Airbender.
Features
- Play as a bender and choose which type you would like to be.
- Battle other users and see who is the best of the best.
- Compatible with WorldGuard, Factions, PreciousStones, GriefPrevention, and CreeperHeal. (Many more plugins will be added to this list)
- Nothing is required client-side
- Permissions support!
Bending
Users may bend water, earth, fire, air, or can go with being a chiblocker.. You may pick which type of bender you would like to be with the command: /bending choose [water/air/earth/fire/chi]. You may only choose one, with the exception of the Avatar, and you may never change it so be careful in your decision.
Waterbending
- Specializes in maneuverability in and on the water.
- Oceans are perfect for water benders.
- Techniques range from shooting water that do damage, freezing lakes, or even pushing enemies back with powerful waves.
- This bending style is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Water bending opens up many options in bodies of water that are otherwise closed to the other disciplines.
Earthbending
- Specializes in manipulating the earth around them.
- Any area which contains land is perfect for earth benders.
- They have the abilities to pull columns straight up from the earth, drill their way through any mountain and launch themselves through the air.
- This bending style, like water bending, is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Earth benders do not take fall damage as long as they land on the ground.
Firebending
- Specializes on destruction and incineration.
- Any environment, besides on any bodies of water, is perfect for them.
- They may create rings of fire on the ground, shoot lines of fire, and even create exploding fireballs.
- This bending style is pure offensive, and very little mobility/defense.
- Fireball is the only ability they may use that does not require any solid ground beneath them.
Airbending
- Specializes in mobility & defense.
- The land is the ideal place for airbenders, although they may also bend over the water.
- Bending air allows you to use wind to blast things away, forming a shield of air around you, or using a tornado to lift you, or your opponent, off of their feet.
- This bending style is perfect for pacifists and explorers for they lack any raw damage output, but make up for it with their utility and speed.
- Choosing air as your element increases your overall speed, decreases the rate of hunger and disables fall damage.
Chi Blocking
- Specializes in bare handed combat.
- Move faster, jump higher, take less fall damage.
- Can block someones chi, stopping them from Bending for a short period of time.
- Abilities range from Higher Jumps, Faster Punches, and Paralysis of enemies.
HELP! It's not working!
This is a Bukkit plugin, not a single player mod. It will never be a single player mod. Go to the Bukkit Wiki to set up your own server. You can play on it just like you would single player, and it requires nothing more than setting it up.
If anything is not working, look around for a development build of Bending.
Development progress
School has picked back up, so plugin development will be very intermittent at best. I've done away with the ordered releases, and will most likely be keeping 1.0.7 the "official" version until I release it as 1.1.0. It's a jump, I know, but if I were forced to stick to a schedule, the plugin would never get done. This is because there are things I like coding and want to code now, and I shouldn't have to wait just because I have something else planned for the version.
As such, there is no ETA on the release. The dev build will of course be updated as I add features, but 1.1.0 will only be officially released when everything is completed, and that could take a very long time.

So, read the known issues with flying. Another person on that page voiced their opinion on not caring if people use a fly hack. Any way you're going to come out with a build for people like us who don't want this mod interfering with 3rd party /fly plugins?

No server has fireball, since the method that was used to do that has been long dead. Maybe you're thinking of Fireblast. The rest of the abilities you mentioned are in the dev build.

..... I don't see how that helps.. In your previous upload of the plugin it says you have gotten rid of fireball etc because bukkit lost the ability to do such things. But other servers still are able to do it and are 1.5. If its the latest build you want me to get you could have said that.

@ShadedGloryGamer
You were reporting missing skills, I was saying that the dev build has these skills. That 1.0.7 doesn't have these skills isn't a bug, it's an older version of Bending that simply didn't have the skills yet.
As for the Catapult issue, I haven't seen the bug yet. My first reaction is to say an anticheat plugin is screwing with it, but honestly that doesn't sound like the case. Maybe it has something to do with 1.5.1 Bukkit. From the sounds of it, I can pretty much see the method that's giving the issue, but I have no idea why (a Bukkit update shouldn't have broken it).
Regardless, I'll look into it. But I simply cannot fix it until the middle of next week, since my desktop is broke until then.

hello orion, i am also having the problems that xCelticRogueX has. it is a weird glitch, it works fine with the non-dev build, but unlike the dev build a few "bending actions" are missing. (shockwave is the only one that comes to mind.) by using the dev build, the missing actions are added. but catapult obtains the weird running glitch/bug. if need be i could show you a video if it "acting up" if needed please tell me, otherwise see if you can find the problem.
please and thank you,
shade

Posted Apr 14, 2013@Orion304 That doesn't help... Installing the Dev build gives me the missing skills, but it doesn't fix the issue with Catapult. I and several other people have been having the issue, and I can have at least 2 of them make an account, and vouch for this issue. I'd rather not have to try to fix it myself, as I am not the creator of the plugin, and I have enough of my own problems to deal with, helping to run 3 servers. All I ask, is fix it, please, and, if you don't believe me, pm me, and I'll give you the server ip that has the issue, and you can see for yourself.

Posted Apr 13, 2013Very odd bug we've found on our server. It appears that when we have this plugin installed.. our SimpleFly mod that allows our donators to fly, won't work. When we remove the air bender mod, people can fly fine. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Posted Apr 12, 2013After some tweaking, I ended up reinstalling the plugin, and now some of the skills don't work, like Airburst and Airspout, Fireburst, and a few others. They aren't being recognized, and I would like to know why. Also, Catapult has a weird glitch where, when you land you run about 3-20 blocks out of the area, depending on the angle you come in from, and can run you into walls, causing damage to you.

Latest http://ci.md-5.net/job/Spigot/775/ build doesn'tt work anymore! People do have fall damage! (Maybe it has something to do with that FINALLY the friendlyfire is added (this is only in the latest build) ) I hope you can fix this before a beta since this is gonna take a while cause 1.5.2 is coming soon and this bug will also be in any later build that I just gave you.

I have no idea about optimization.
@aceliip
The dev build is what you want, and what people have been referring to, and is listed twice on this page, including under the section of "HELP! It's not working!".

Same :D
@orion304
Might it be a option that the plugin uses more CPU's, I read somewhere that some plugins use more than the standard of one CPU, but those plugins where written for only specific server that are only on that servers. (Idk much about it but if you could use it, it would be cool) (I read it when I was checking the RAMdisk enabled thing with the advanced start script, but I think it aint possible since loads of people try to get a host and pay only for 1 CPU, well anyways thinks for reading this :P)
@orion304
Again about the more CPU's, I am going to run this weekend the server on RAM and use all CPU's will this improve the plugin asswell? Or only the vanilla minecraft running like mining and crafting? Thanks!

Your complaints of Bending abuse can just as easily be complaints of vanilla Minecraft abuse. Random columns everywhere, if earthbending reversion is OFF, is exactly what you'd expect to get, and people can do that with real dirt blocks anywhere. Forests burnt down can be just as well done with flint and steel as it can with Firebending, and things like CreeperHeal handle both. Cooldowns/mana/hunger costs aren't going to affect that in the slightest.
I have gone through that chart before, I've done my research. Did you know that Bukkit doesn't have convenient ways of handling these exhaustion level and food saturation level changes? You see, the airbending passive made me find this out the hard way. And again, show me a lick of evidence, a shred of it in the Avatar world where Bending wasn't as simple and waving your arms around in terms of the energy requirement from the Bender.
Yes, it's still some physical motion (which in some cases is already handled hunger-wise by vanilla Minecraft) but again, BUKKIT doesn't have nifty methods for this. You should see how I had to piece together the Airbender passive to handle food depletion.
@Scorch66
Well, if you look under either the section of "Dev build" or "HELP! It's not working!", your answer would be there in the first sentences.
@Jabayoo
Can I change what? The ability to raise a column more than once? And last I checked, Collapse can be used on the same patch of earth an indefinite number of times.
As for checking with the stairs and their facing, of course if there's a simple way of doing it I will. But, as I said, last I fiddled with anything like that it was obnoxiously complicated and needlessly so.

Posted Apr 10, 2013@orion304 Nope, still doing it just not as often. When I raise a column, I can only do so once and once I lower a column it is only once as well. Not sure if this is a glitch or you made it like this but seriously, its annoying. Can you change this? Thanks.

Posted Apr 10, 2013I forgot to say this, there are also abilities on my server that the test server does not have. Is this just part of the update, or am I glitching?
