Development builds of this project can be acquired at the provided continuous integration server. These builds have not been approved by the BukkitDev staff. Use them at your own risk. This link has been removed because Bukkit doesn't like Github as a CI server.
Minecraft: The Last Airbender is a Minecraft plugin for a Bukkit server. It is designed for Survival Multiplayer, and allows players to choose an element to bend as the benders do in the world of Avatar (the stage of Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra).
Some quick notes: I will warn you that you will not be able to do everything they do in the show. There are limitations both in Minecraft and in Bukkit that prevent such extravagance. In the details of each discipline you can see exactly what you can do. As such, the description of the bending disciplines is a little altered to reflect their role in the world of Minecraft: The Last Airbender.
Features
- Play as a bender and choose which type you would like to be.
- Battle other users and see who is the best of the best.
- Compatible with WorldGuard, Factions, PreciousStones, GriefPrevention, and CreeperHeal. (Many more plugins will be added to this list)
- Nothing is required client-side
- Permissions support!
Bending
Users may bend water, earth, fire, air, or can go with being a chiblocker.. You may pick which type of bender you would like to be with the command: /bending choose [water/air/earth/fire/chi]. You may only choose one, with the exception of the Avatar, and you may never change it so be careful in your decision.
Waterbending
- Specializes in maneuverability in and on the water.
- Oceans are perfect for water benders.
- Techniques range from shooting water that do damage, freezing lakes, or even pushing enemies back with powerful waves.
- This bending style is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Water bending opens up many options in bodies of water that are otherwise closed to the other disciplines.
Earthbending
- Specializes in manipulating the earth around them.
- Any area which contains land is perfect for earth benders.
- They have the abilities to pull columns straight up from the earth, drill their way through any mountain and launch themselves through the air.
- This bending style, like water bending, is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Earth benders do not take fall damage as long as they land on the ground.
Firebending
- Specializes on destruction and incineration.
- Any environment, besides on any bodies of water, is perfect for them.
- They may create rings of fire on the ground, shoot lines of fire, and even create exploding fireballs.
- This bending style is pure offensive, and very little mobility/defense.
- Fireball is the only ability they may use that does not require any solid ground beneath them.
Airbending
- Specializes in mobility & defense.
- The land is the ideal place for airbenders, although they may also bend over the water.
- Bending air allows you to use wind to blast things away, forming a shield of air around you, or using a tornado to lift you, or your opponent, off of their feet.
- This bending style is perfect for pacifists and explorers for they lack any raw damage output, but make up for it with their utility and speed.
- Choosing air as your element increases your overall speed, decreases the rate of hunger and disables fall damage.
Chi Blocking
- Specializes in bare handed combat.
- Move faster, jump higher, take less fall damage.
- Can block someones chi, stopping them from Bending for a short period of time.
- Abilities range from Higher Jumps, Faster Punches, and Paralysis of enemies.
HELP! It's not working!
This is a Bukkit plugin, not a single player mod. It will never be a single player mod. Go to the Bukkit Wiki to set up your own server. You can play on it just like you would single player, and it requires nothing more than setting it up.
If anything is not working, look around for a development build of Bending.
Development progress
School has picked back up, so plugin development will be very intermittent at best. I've done away with the ordered releases, and will most likely be keeping 1.0.7 the "official" version until I release it as 1.1.0. It's a jump, I know, but if I were forced to stick to a schedule, the plugin would never get done. This is because there are things I like coding and want to code now, and I shouldn't have to wait just because I have something else planned for the version.
As such, there is no ETA on the release. The dev build will of course be updated as I add features, but 1.1.0 will only be officially released when everything is completed, and that could take a very long time.

Posted Apr 10, 2013I installed it for my 1.5.1 server but we are having some problems. The abilities that are on the test server are not there, and some abilities when I use the ability help just say "this ability has been removed" even though its on the /display fire list? Can anyone shed some light on this? We're lots of the abilities that are on the test server removed? Or am I just having a problem?

Posted Apr 10, 2013@orion304 Yes I have indeed added them to being bendable. I have not recently updated version, if there has been one so I'll get back to you to say if the glitch is still there and yes I very well know how difficult or how easy it can be. I know it is not its only use. As I said before I will update and get back to you if this problem is still there once I get the dev build installed. Yes it is indeed a large amount of work for something little but it also adds more customization to the mod and it gives people the choice to make it the way they want instead of the way you want. I have read the FAQs and I get why you haven't but it would be very enjoyable for those who do want it and it would also stop people abusing the bending (burning down forest, columns everywhere) as well as give a higher sense of it being logical to the Avatar universe. Yes of course it takes physical energy and chi to bend, they are masters of their art, so of course they can bend for hours on end and to even more prove to the fact that it takes energy to bend, Katara and Aang were sweating whilst they were cutting though the columns of the drill and yes they did indeed continue to fight afterwards as I know but it still proves that it takes energy. As I said, you can make it off by default as well as making it so each move only takes 1/4 of a bar of hunger. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Hunger#Mechanics I suggest you go to this link and ctrl + f and type 'Exhaustion level increase' and read though that chart. It says takes energy to break a block or even jump which is physical motion in the Minecraft universe to do these things and it also in the Avatar universe takes physical motion to bend it would therefore reduce their food bar (if they had one) and take energy.

Well stairs are not bendable by earthbenders by default. As for orientation, have you tried this with the dev build of Bending, were reversion has been rewritten? I'm not sure if the bug is there or really how to fix it (it's harder than you might think).
Many many earthbenders are able to bend from a raised column (which isn't its only use, by the way). Additionally, EarthBlast was altered in the dev build to make it able to be fired directly from the ground, so the point is kind of not even there.
I will probably not add custom reversion for Earthbending. It seems a great deal of work for something very, very few people would have an interest in. There's already reversion for EarthBlast, EarthTunnel and then the rest.
Again, in the FAQ, I go into great detail as to why I won't add a system for using energy or hunger to bend. And regarding the cooldown request, that is exactly what's already on the drawing board, cooldowns customizable for every single bending move.
@hami10
Binding is pretty quick and easy, allows the user to customize their experience from the start, and is an integral part of learning Bending. I don't think I'll have people start off with all the moves they can have bound already bound.
The items suggestion is not possible within the scope of a server-side plugin.
@ninjanat
I'll check it out I guess.
@codiaz
No, I mean also FireBurst is currently doing way more damage than intended. The problem has been fixed in the latest dev build, but I cannot upload it for a bit more for technical reasons. FireBurst was doing FireBlast's damage squared, which was unintentional. It will now be doing only 1.5x FireBlast's damage.

If you go and download the plugin "Skript" you could do this yourself by making a script that will run multiple commands after a player enters a specific command in game.
For example, if John types /b choose earth - a script in the background will run, automating everything, like running /b bind shockwave 1, /b bind earthraise 2, etc, etc, and of course you could also fill each player slot with a specific item with it's own name and lore to match each ability that is bound to it's slot.

Posted Apr 10, 2013The plugin is awesome! Keep it up! My only concern is the binding-to-slots thing. I hate binding each and every ability to the slots. My suggestions would be:
I hope my suggestions would be any use to make this plugin more easy to use.

Posted Apr 10, 2013Uh, hi. When you land on stairs and the earth bending passive kicks in it changes the stairs, making them face a different way. Can you fix this? Thanks. You say the point of the raise columns is to make the earth blast easier but when ever I attempt to use that to fire the blast they seem to hit other parts of the column and, well, don't work. It would be nice if you fixed this as well. Could you add to the config a option to each earth bending ability to revert it? Some have it, some don't and it just so happens the ones that don't are the ones I'd like to turn on/off.
Regarding what machado197328 said. You should seriously just add in the option for these things as default off, it is very obvious that people want it. Why not make it so when ever you bend you lose a bit from your food bar? Or it decreases slightly faster for 1 second or such and such.
I think he means cool downs for EVERYTHING like I mean reverts in the earth bending part of the config for all the earth bending abilities.

If you recall the conversations recently, you'd know that I've already planned to add customizable cooldowns for every ability.
Also, in the FAQ you quoted it mentions nothing about cooldowns, especially small ones. And cooldowns have already been implemented, so I never said I'd not do them - take Fireblast and all of the ChiBlocker abilities for example - each have a cooldown.

To use Fireburst, bind it to a slot, hold SHIFT until u see fire and then PUNCH or release shift

Posted Apr 10, 2013Orion.. i renember having this discussion with you already and i know your position in the matter, but i'm afraid i'll have to insist, could you make a configuration option of cooldown for every skill? i'm asking this because I know that when the players acquire the skills they will use them wrongly and repeatedly, and we will have those lame combat where a earthbender will make infinite collumns of earth(raiseearth) and a firebender will set half of the map on fire(fireburst). Without cooldowns those things are possible, and they will certanly happen.
No. Not only is there no good way to do this visually and interactively server-side, it fundamentally goes against everything set in the series. Name one episode where someone struggled to bend because they lacked the required energy. There's only one episode where they even mention exhaustion from bending, and that was in The Drill after cutting through an enormous steel pillar. And even then, they never stopped, showed no further signs of fatigue, and went on to fight directly afterwards with no ill effects. Bending time and again is nearly effortless on the shows (with a few minor exceptions, like Bumi launching the statue of Ozai off Omashu, but even then he wasn't worn he was just struggling with something so large), and it will be that way in this plugin, period.
All the episodes where there's a fight we can see that the characters use different habilities, that's the major reason why i'm asking it, so they have the necessity of using and learning different skills.

You don't want to use bending toggle to do things, since people can just untoggle it at will. But denying the whole bending.* node in the world you care about will do exactly what you want.
@aceliip
You mean the dev build of bending, which is mentioned above at least 2 different times?
Earthbenders can already bend sand. To bend it like you'd want is outside the capabilities of both Minecraft and Bukkit. Metalbending is in the FAQ.

Posted Apr 9, 2013I cant seem to get some of the abilities that other servers have like that earth aoe wave and the fire skill that charges up before firing a huge torrent of flame. Could u guys help me?
Also i think it would really be cool if earth branched out like water like sand bending and metal bending that would complete this plugin i think.

Posted Apr 9, 2013Is there a way to make it so that people can't bend after they enter another world? Like I already did multi-world permissions so that they can't bind anything and don't get the passives, and that their bending gets toggled when they enter, but there's no way to make it so that bending only gets toggled off instead of toggled from what it was before. So if someone toggles their bending and enters the world, then their bending will be on and if they already have things binded they can use skills. Is there a way to avoid this? Thx.

You want Bending to only change the color of the chat, but not add any prefixes so that something else can add prefixes? Have you tried just setting the prefixes in the config to ""?

Posted Apr 8, 2013Hey, my server uses groupmanager, with several "factions"/ group prefixs. Anyways, I havn't exactly figured out how to keep these group prefixs on a player and change his name color due to the type of bending he has. It's either one or the other, the name color and bending title or the group prefix. Is there anyway to have both?

There are multiple checks NoCheat does. You should go through its config and disable the ones that seem like they'd interfere. NoCheat thinks that Bending damage is the same as damage done with fists, so the range check and multiple target check are some of the ones you'll have to disable.
Additionally NoCheat loves killing people with falling damage when Bending says they shouldn't die. You should probably disable all falling damage checks.
@nathank33
Wow, thanks. I tend to agree about balance, but many people disagree. Of course, there are the issues of some damages being bugged occasionally - like Torrent doing silly amount of damage and FireBurst doing so much, but those I finally found out and have fixed. Unfortunately I can't update them for about a week in the dev build.
As for the saving part, that's already been fixed now. Again, I just can't put out the fix for about a week until my computer becomes operational once more.
