Dev build
Development builds of this project can be acquired at the provided continuous integration server. These builds have not been approved by the BukkitDev staff. Use them at your own risk. This link has been removed because Bukkit doesn't like Github as a CI server.
Minecraft: The Last Airbender is a Minecraft plugin for a Bukkit server. It is designed for Survival Multiplayer, and allows players to choose an element to bend as the benders do in the world of Avatar (the stage of Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra).
Some quick notes: I will warn you that you will not be able to do everything they do in the show. There are limitations both in Minecraft and in Bukkit that prevent such extravagance. In the details of each discipline you can see exactly what you can do. As such, the description of the bending disciplines is a little altered to reflect their role in the world of Minecraft: The Last Airbender.
Features
- Play as a bender and choose which type you would like to be.
- Battle other users and see who is the best of the best.
- Compatible with WorldGuard, Factions, PreciousStones, GriefPrevention, and CreeperHeal. (Many more plugins will be added to this list)
- Nothing is required client-side
- Permissions support!
Bending
Users may bend water, earth, fire, air, or can go with being a chiblocker.. You may pick which type of bender you would like to be with the command: /bending choose [water/air/earth/fire/chi]. You may only choose one, with the exception of the Avatar, and you may never change it so be careful in your decision.
Waterbending
- Specializes in maneuverability in and on the water.
- Oceans are perfect for water benders.
- Techniques range from shooting water that do damage, freezing lakes, or even pushing enemies back with powerful waves.
- This bending style is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Water bending opens up many options in bodies of water that are otherwise closed to the other disciplines.
Earthbending
- Specializes in manipulating the earth around them.
- Any area which contains land is perfect for earth benders.
- They have the abilities to pull columns straight up from the earth, drill their way through any mountain and launch themselves through the air.
- This bending style, like water bending, is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Earth benders do not take fall damage as long as they land on the ground.
Firebending
- Specializes on destruction and incineration.
- Any environment, besides on any bodies of water, is perfect for them.
- They may create rings of fire on the ground, shoot lines of fire, and even create exploding fireballs.
- This bending style is pure offensive, and very little mobility/defense.
- Fireball is the only ability they may use that does not require any solid ground beneath them.
Airbending
- Specializes in mobility & defense.
- The land is the ideal place for airbenders, although they may also bend over the water.
- Bending air allows you to use wind to blast things away, forming a shield of air around you, or using a tornado to lift you, or your opponent, off of their feet.
- This bending style is perfect for pacifists and explorers for they lack any raw damage output, but make up for it with their utility and speed.
- Choosing air as your element increases your overall speed, decreases the rate of hunger and disables fall damage.
Chi Blocking
- Specializes in bare handed combat.
- Move faster, jump higher, take less fall damage.
- Can block someones chi, stopping them from Bending for a short period of time.
- Abilities range from Higher Jumps, Faster Punches, and Paralysis of enemies.
HELP! It's not working!
This is a Bukkit plugin, not a single player mod. It will never be a single player mod. Go to the Bukkit Wiki to set up your own server. You can play on it just like you would single player, and it requires nothing more than setting it up.
If anything is not working, look around for a development build of Bending.
Development progress
School has picked back up, so plugin development will be very intermittent at best. I've done away with the ordered releases, and will most likely be keeping 1.0.7 the "official" version until I release it as 1.1.0. It's a jump, I know, but if I were forced to stick to a schedule, the plugin would never get done. This is because there are things I like coding and want to code now, and I shouldn't have to wait just because I have something else planned for the version.
As such, there is no ETA on the release. The dev build will of course be updated as I add features, but 1.1.0 will only be officially released when everything is completed, and that could take a very long time.

Posted Feb 28, 2013Hey I'm running a forgebukkit server and downloaded your dev build for the most part it seemed to work passive abilities like water bubble worked fine however the others ones would not work at all. Also all players were able to fly without even choosin there bending element. I was wondering if there is a work around for this at all or any plans for port to forgeBukkit or MCPC. The plugin is absolutely amazing really hope there is some way to get it working cause it would do great on my server.

I know it works for the plugin but it uses Signs as its connector to the a command, like I said it's pretty much just like CommandSigns, but this is not what I was looking for, I was looking for a text based system to automate the entire thing, so I finally found a version of "Skript" that would run fine and work fine, so I am using it now, but thanks. :D

Server signs does work for this, you can add multiple commands to a sign, just add the command that moves them to a different group, and also adds an element. To pull this off you would have to set up some restrictions to the sign and permissions to a certain group so people dont go crazy adding elements. I have this successfully set up on my server.

Every time I try to bind moves like Torrent, OctopusForm, or Shockwave, it keeps saying:
It's like the moves don't exist...
I've also looked at the Water section in the config.yml file, and I don't see OctopusForm or Torrent:
Is the problem with the config.yml file, or are these moves undergoing development?

Yes, full moon (at night). It's why I mentioned it.
@aarplane22
If you downloaded the dev build (like you said), everything should work by default. What does it say when you try to bind these abilities?
@0dayRUDE
No idea.
@codiaz
You mean the link to github? Just google minecraft TLA github. Or orion304 github. And no, I haven't implemented any of the changes suggested. People say they've "fixed" it, really they just masked the problem that was already there. The null pointer exceptions shouldn't be ignored, they should be fixed so they're no longer null.

Use serversigns and add all the commands you want to it
@Ethaniel13
Euhm in 1.5 the light thing comes (BUD) anyways with that and some command blocks you can do it :D (for full moon you will need a good system :D)
@orion304
Is the beding saving, torrent and airblast already working in the latest dev build and can you give one more the github thing with all the changes in it (webbrowser deleted everything and I lost the url of it :(), Thanks!

Posted Feb 27, 2013Is there any possible way to use permissions to auto add an element to a persons already existing element once they are moved to a different group containing the updated (extra element) info ? For example. if I choose Fire and rank up and then I am moved to the group Firemaster which has the fire and water permissions, it auto adds the (/b add water) to my character. Just wondering if this is possible with this plugin specifically, if not does anyone know of a plugin to auto run a specified command after being added to a new group. :S
Ps : I was going to use "Skript" and just write my own system to simplify the entire process, but sadly not a single version of that plugin wants to work on my server, lol.

Posted Feb 26, 2013Hey everyone,
I was wondering if I could get some help on enabling special moves on each element (i.e. Torrent, Octopus Form, Shockwave...). It's not that bending isn't working entirely, it's just some special ones that don't bind to any keys. On each tutorial video I watch, all of them are able to perform such moves with no problems at all.
I've tried just about everything to get these moves to work. I'm admin on my server, I've verified all the permissions, and I've downloaded the .jar file from the "HELP! It's Not Working" section (like previous comments have suggested), but the moves refuse to bind to keys. Has anyone had any success in fixing this?

Either make them op, or visit our permissions page and give them the permissions you want. If you're referring to bending all elements at once, then use the add command. If you're referring to the AvatarState, there's a permission for that.

Not "they". Me. And all bending damage has been renormalized, not just fire. You should delete your Bending configuration to see the full effects.
Fireball is never coming back. Ever.

Half way stable? The 453 servers and 614 players playing the plugin right now beg to differ. Bending is plenty stable, I don't even know what disconnect you're referring to.
