Development builds of this project can be acquired at the provided continuous integration server. These builds have not been approved by the BukkitDev staff. Use them at your own risk. This link has been removed because Bukkit doesn't like Github as a CI server.
Minecraft: The Last Airbender is a Minecraft plugin for a Bukkit server. It is designed for Survival Multiplayer, and allows players to choose an element to bend as the benders do in the world of Avatar (the stage of Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra).
Some quick notes: I will warn you that you will not be able to do everything they do in the show. There are limitations both in Minecraft and in Bukkit that prevent such extravagance. In the details of each discipline you can see exactly what you can do. As such, the description of the bending disciplines is a little altered to reflect their role in the world of Minecraft: The Last Airbender.
Features
- Play as a bender and choose which type you would like to be.
- Battle other users and see who is the best of the best.
- Compatible with WorldGuard, Factions, PreciousStones, GriefPrevention, and CreeperHeal. (Many more plugins will be added to this list)
- Nothing is required client-side

Bending
Users may bend water, earth, fire, air, or can go with being a chiblocker.. You may pick which type of bender you would like to be with the command: /bending choose [water/air/earth/fire/chi]. You may only choose one, with the exception of the Avatar, and you may never change it so be careful in your decision.
Waterbending
- Specializes in maneuverability in and on the water.
- Oceans are perfect for water benders.
- Techniques range from shooting water that do damage, freezing lakes, or even pushing enemies back with powerful waves.
- This bending style is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Water bending opens up many options in bodies of water that are otherwise closed to the other disciplines.
Earthbending
- Specializes in manipulating the earth around them.
- Any area which contains land is perfect for earth benders.
- They have the abilities to pull columns straight up from the earth, drill their way through any mountain and launch themselves through the air.
- This bending style, like water bending, is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Earth benders do not take fall damage as long as they land on the ground.
Firebending
- Specializes on destruction and incineration.
- Any environment, besides on any bodies of water, is perfect for them.
- They may create rings of fire on the ground, shoot lines of fire, and even create exploding fireballs.
- This bending style is pure offensive, and very little mobility/defense.
- Fireball is the only ability they may use that does not require any solid ground beneath them.
Airbending
- Specializes in mobility & defense.
- The land is the ideal place for airbenders, although they may also bend over the water.
- Bending air allows you to use wind to blast things away, forming a shield of air around you, or using a tornado to lift you, or your opponent, off of their feet.
- This bending style is perfect for pacifists and explorers for they lack any raw damage output, but make up for it with their utility and speed.
- Choosing air as your element increases your overall speed, decreases the rate of hunger and disables fall damage.
Chi Blocking
- Specializes in bare handed combat.
- Move faster, jump higher, take less fall damage.
- Can block someones chi, stopping them from Bending for a short period of time.
- Abilities range from Higher Jumps, Faster Punches, and Paralysis of enemies.
HELP! It's not working!
This is a Bukkit plugin, not a single player mod. It will never be a single player mod. Go to the Bukkit Wiki to set up your own server. You can play on it just like you would single player, and it requires nothing more than setting it up.
If anything is not working, look around for a development build of Bending.
Development progress
School has picked back up, so plugin development will be very intermittent at best. I've done away with the ordered releases, and will most likely be keeping 1.0.7 the "official" version until I release it as 1.1.0. It's a jump, I know, but if I were forced to stick to a schedule, the plugin would never get done. This is because there are things I like coding and want to code now, and I shouldn't have to wait just because I have something else planned for the version.
As such, there is no ETA on the release. The dev build will of course be updated as I add features, but 1.1.0 will only be officially released when everything is completed, and that could take a very long time.

Posted Dec 21, 2012Thanks for all the help orion. I tested it out and firebending does burn down trees now. For some reason when I was looking through the bending file, there were no settings for fireburst! Why is that? Just wondering.

Posted Dec 21, 2012The Bending plugin does not work with 1.4.6. Is there any update in the future that will make it work or a way to change a setting to make it work now? I'm sure you've already been asked this and maybe there is a solution somewhere that I haven't noticed. All the players on my server love this plugin and I had to temporarily remove it because it wasn't working.

Posted Dec 21, 2012Don't worry orion, just to let you know I'm fully aware of the instant charge effect of Avatar State which would take place with airburst. I was solely addressing the falling airburst. Even if I did just tap shift after hitting the ground the airburst wouldn't be the same. That type of airburst would only push them back, it would be nice to have the airburst that throws them into the air as well. I'm glad you're looking into it so thank you. :) I hope you make it possible.

Bukkit must update first. The plugin (dev build) likely works for 1.4.6 anyways.

They do have a way of eliminating fall damage - activate FireJet before hitting the ground and use it to direct your decent. Just like in the series.

AvatarState AirBurst is instant charge. Though it's supposed to go off when you hit the ground (and I'll look into that), the fact that it doesn't isn't a problem - just tap shift and it's done. And it is augmented by the AvatarState; it is a lot stronger of a push.

I cannot make a no-bending flag, as flags themselves are defined by your favorite region protection plugin. If you can find a region protection plugin that can allow permissions per region, you can do that instead.
I have not checked if it's possible for firebending to burn down trees when it's make temporary (it dissipates really quickly). You can test this on your own. Make sure in the configuration that you make FireBurst also dissipate quickly. Alternatively - get CreeperHeal.

Bending sand is a really big issue with Minecraft physics. Having it turn to sandstone was motivated by huge bugs from sandbending (Shockwave was a really big culprit). Unless Bukkit ever allows me to stop sand blocks from falling, that change will not be reverted - not even in the config.

Is it possible to adjust the plugin within its settings so that when an Earthbender bends Sand it does NOT change to Sandstone? We just established a Sandbender group and the change has ruined most of the concept. If there is no way to change it through settings, is there anyway i can convince you to undo this change?

Posted Dec 20, 2012Hello again, I'd like to ask if you could do something about the Avatar State. It seems that with airbending, whilst in Avatar State you cannot perform a falling airburst. I was wondering whether or not this is something that can already be changed or if it's just the way it is. It seems for the other elements one can perform everything, so why not air? Maybe a nice airburst that's a bit more powerful, like the range extended by about 5 blocks or something, plus the overall height and knock back kicked up a notch? I hope that some change could be made to this so an Avatar could unleash the ultimate airbending technique to it's full potential. Please and thank you. The plugin's great as always. ^_^

Posted Dec 20, 2012Sugestion: If you hold shift when in firejet, you will glide like a chicken. Even some of the best firebenders die from careless firejets, and fire is the only of the 4 main elements not to have a way of eleminating fall damage.

Ah, silly me. I fixed the passives, but not the abilities. It's now fixed and uploaded. As for the StackOverflow error, it's happening when earthbending reverts and does so improperly. For my server, this doesn't happen often and rarely results in a crash. I don't have any workaround right now though.

Saving is working just fine for me, so I'm not sure what's wrong. And FireBlast's explosion hasn't been changed - if TNT can explode there, then FireBlast can.

Thanks for the reply. I know its not an easy task.
The problem is, the error kills the server. At first its okay, but it spams the log with thousands of lines per second and I have to force kill the server if it doesn't just read time out on its own. My log went from 1 mb to 30+mb with over 70k lines in a matter of a couple of seconds because of it.
Edit: In regards to negating permissions: I made another instance of my server for testing purposes. It is only running the following:
If I do - -bending.air.AirSpout, it prevents AirSpout from being bound in the first place, but seems to make no checks if it should be permissible when a user actually uses the ability (i.e. the user already has AirSpout bound, then the bending.air.AirSpout is negated, they can still use the ability, just not bind it) This would be a big security hole in my multiworld setup since benders would already have their abilities bound in the Arena world, and therefore the above bug would allow them to use their abilities in the overworld because the abilities aren't checked for permissions on use.
