Dev build
Development builds of this project can be acquired at the provided continuous integration server. These builds have not been approved by the BukkitDev staff. Use them at your own risk. This link has been removed because Bukkit doesn't like Github as a CI server.
Minecraft: The Last Airbender is a Minecraft plugin for a Bukkit server. It is designed for Survival Multiplayer, and allows players to choose an element to bend as the benders do in the world of Avatar (the stage of Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra).
Some quick notes: I will warn you that you will not be able to do everything they do in the show. There are limitations both in Minecraft and in Bukkit that prevent such extravagance. In the details of each discipline you can see exactly what you can do. As such, the description of the bending disciplines is a little altered to reflect their role in the world of Minecraft: The Last Airbender.
Features
- Play as a bender and choose which type you would like to be.
- Battle other users and see who is the best of the best.
- Compatible with WorldGuard, Factions, PreciousStones, GriefPrevention, and CreeperHeal. (Many more plugins will be added to this list)
- Nothing is required client-side
- Permissions support!
Bending
Users may bend water, earth, fire, air, or can go with being a chiblocker.. You may pick which type of bender you would like to be with the command: /bending choose [water/air/earth/fire/chi]. You may only choose one, with the exception of the Avatar, and you may never change it so be careful in your decision.
Waterbending
- Specializes in maneuverability in and on the water.
- Oceans are perfect for water benders.
- Techniques range from shooting water that do damage, freezing lakes, or even pushing enemies back with powerful waves.
- This bending style is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Water bending opens up many options in bodies of water that are otherwise closed to the other disciplines.
Earthbending
- Specializes in manipulating the earth around them.
- Any area which contains land is perfect for earth benders.
- They have the abilities to pull columns straight up from the earth, drill their way through any mountain and launch themselves through the air.
- This bending style, like water bending, is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Earth benders do not take fall damage as long as they land on the ground.
Firebending
- Specializes on destruction and incineration.
- Any environment, besides on any bodies of water, is perfect for them.
- They may create rings of fire on the ground, shoot lines of fire, and even create exploding fireballs.
- This bending style is pure offensive, and very little mobility/defense.
- Fireball is the only ability they may use that does not require any solid ground beneath them.
Airbending
- Specializes in mobility & defense.
- The land is the ideal place for airbenders, although they may also bend over the water.
- Bending air allows you to use wind to blast things away, forming a shield of air around you, or using a tornado to lift you, or your opponent, off of their feet.
- This bending style is perfect for pacifists and explorers for they lack any raw damage output, but make up for it with their utility and speed.
- Choosing air as your element increases your overall speed, decreases the rate of hunger and disables fall damage.
Chi Blocking
- Specializes in bare handed combat.
- Move faster, jump higher, take less fall damage.
- Can block someones chi, stopping them from Bending for a short period of time.
- Abilities range from Higher Jumps, Faster Punches, and Paralysis of enemies.
HELP! It's not working!
This is a Bukkit plugin, not a single player mod. It will never be a single player mod. Go to the Bukkit Wiki to set up your own server. You can play on it just like you would single player, and it requires nothing more than setting it up.
If anything is not working, look around for a development build of Bending.
Development progress
School has picked back up, so plugin development will be very intermittent at best. I've done away with the ordered releases, and will most likely be keeping 1.0.7 the "official" version until I release it as 1.1.0. It's a jump, I know, but if I were forced to stick to a schedule, the plugin would never get done. This is because there are things I like coding and want to code now, and I shouldn't have to wait just because I have something else planned for the version.
As such, there is no ETA on the release. The dev build will of course be updated as I add features, but 1.1.0 will only be officially released when everything is completed, and that could take a very long time.

Posted Dec 20, 2012The dev build is of course not without its bugs, and will occasionally yell at you - but it will not break (for the most part). In fact, it has been designed to never break and instead catch itself and fix itself.
@codiaz
That's not a bug, that's a feature.
@Tsrizchris
The link hasn't changed - just redownload the dev build.
@xiWeird
That hasn't been fixed, and might not ever be fixed.
@CyanLights
That error isn't game breaking, and I'm working on it. I've not had any issues with SQL. And I negated permissions myself and it worked just fine, but I'll test it again. PEX has been known to do its own wildcard thing (read the known issues/FAQ), so do it explicitly I suppose.
@codiaz
Pssst, I'm the only one coding here. MistPhizzle is doing an amazing job keeping the Wiki up to date. Water bottle refilling is an intended and awesome feature I put in. We'll see if we want to dedicate a wiki page to waterbender's bottles.
@codiaz
It didn't break.

No, it I said it works for the reccommended 1.4.5 build, I generally dont update to the most latest due to easy breaks in plugins and most developers wont have updated for a build that isn't recommended :)

What version of craftbukkit are you using? I'm using the latest 1.4.5 reccomended build with no such issues. Negating the permission nodes works, I found when I did it a while back negating moves using the nodes bending.air* didn't stop them from doing all the moves from the element, so I negated each individual move and it works wonderfully.

Wow, the new update is amazing. You are my hero. <3 Cat

Posted Dec 19, 2012Orion,
After updating the plugin I am getting a ridiculous amount of "too many files open" errors. I enabled mysql after updating bending also. Can you check to see if there are any instances of files not being closed after open, if applicative? I just find it odd because it started happening the moment Bending was installed. I am also still running CB 1.4.5 beta 2 due to plugin incompatibility with 1.4.5 RB.
http://pastebin.com/itgxkfYK
Any help? Running on a debian dedicated server.
Edit: In addition, I tried negating passive permissions like so: - -bending.*.* - -bending.* - -bending.air.* - -bending.air.AirSpout But they still don't work.

Did you fix the /fly command? When I installed this plugin, the /fly command doesn't work.

Don't worry about the details of a bug in the code.
And you use PEX. You want people to not use watermanipulation? Add the node "-bending.water.watermanipulation" to the person (through whatever means you want). Tada, they can no longer do it. Negating permissions is a very fundamental thing you need to learn about any permissions plugin, look it up and read it :D

Ye but lets say i want people to not use watermanipulation, how can I do this without first saying they need a perms node? I just don't makes sence to me, I am rlly sorry to ask this :P And you are awesome that you have made it sooooo fast! And one thing was it that human entity? Becuase it kept spamming my log full :D

Posted Dec 19, 2012Whoa! Found some huge bugs that indeed make Bending unplayable. I'm fixing them now, and a new dev build will be out shortly. I will edit this post when I release a new build.
If you cannot wait - http://dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/view/01602_1.4.5-R0.2/ this version I am pretty sure works.
Edit: As of 2:07PM EDT the dev build is up to date for the new recommended Bukkit build. A few things were deactivated for it, but they were either flavor or only visual things.

Posted Dec 19, 2012Excellent, Bukkit has updated. As I have promised, I have released the latest development build of Bending. Use at your own discretion, I haven't been able to test it on the new Bukkit yet (though it works fine on build 2488 if you have issues).
@Tsrizchris
I fully understand. Your problems should now be fixed. Let me know if they aren't.
@codiaz
As I said, you can do everything with permissions. Each permission plugin has a way to negate a permission node - otherwise how do you think servers can stop people from building when it's allowed by default.

Euhm you said don't go into the plugin itself, Never! But how do I change than that people can't use earthblast without permissions ??? Because you have putted in the config there as normal user as default and if i change that to OP than only ops can use it or people with perms... So is there any other way than?

Burden lol... it's just a little annoying when you can complete parkour courses for elite ranks.. and waterbenders can just walk accross (Water bottom) and airbenders fly. :\

Thanks for reading the relevant section. There are only a handful of abilities that currently ignore permissions, so hopefully it's not being too much of a burden. And the dev build will come out when Bukkit finally updates.

I have the permissions world by world toggled. However, it only blocks commands. People choose their ability in the enabled world and are able to use the abilities in every world
EDIT: Sorry, read the known issues. Hopefully a new dev build comes out soon...

That's certainly strange and not at all what it should be. Try deleting your bending configuration file.
@CyanLights
I am not inclined to put up another arena - and if I were I have a few others in mind. I appreciate it though.
@zarakh01
There are no bugs like what you've mentioned, you have installed it incorrectly/have the wrong version/have a conflicting plugin. Make sure you download the dev build and that there are no error reports from your server.
@penguin392
I haven't banned you, and if you're talking about some other server that is even more not the place. I am deleting these posts though, as you have been warned - this is not the place.
@Danstryder
Do everything from your favorite permissions plugin. There is full support there.
