Minecraft: The Last Airbender is a Minecraft plugin for a Bukkit server. It is designed for Survival Multiplayer, and allows players to choose an element to bend as the benders do in the world of Avatar (the stage of Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra).
Some quick notes: I will warn you that you will not be able to do everything they do in the show. There are limitations both in Minecraft and in Bukkit that prevent such extravagance. In the details of each discipline you can see exactly what you can do. As such, the description of the bending disciplines is a little altered to reflect their role in the world of Minecraft: The Last Airbender.
Features
- Play as a bender and choose which type you would like to be.
- Battle other users and see who is the best of the best.
- Compatible with WorldGuard, Factions, PreciousStones, GriefPrevention, and CreeperHeal. (Many more plugins will be added to this list)
- Nothing is required client-side
- Permissions support!
Bending
Users may bend water, earth, fire, air, or can go with being a chiblocker.. You may pick which type of bender you would like to be with the command: /bending choose [water/air/earth/fire/chi]. You may only choose one, with the exception of the Avatar, and you may never change it so be careful in your decision.
Waterbending
- Specializes in maneuverability in and on the water.
- Oceans are perfect for water benders.
- Techniques range from shooting water that do damage, freezing lakes, or even pushing enemies back with powerful waves.
- This bending style is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Water bending opens up many options in bodies of water that are otherwise closed to the other disciplines.
Earthbending
- Specializes in manipulating the earth around them.
- Any area which contains land is perfect for earth benders.
- They have the abilities to pull columns straight up from the earth, drill their way through any mountain and launch themselves through the air.
- This bending style, like water bending, is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Earth benders do not take fall damage as long as they land on the ground.
Firebending
- Specializes on destruction and incineration.
- Any environment, besides on any bodies of water, is perfect for them.
- They may create rings of fire on the ground, shoot lines of fire, and even create exploding fireballs.
- This bending style is pure offensive, and very little mobility/defense.
- Fireball is the only ability they may use that does not require any solid ground beneath them.
Airbending
- Specializes in mobility & defense.
- The land is the ideal place for airbenders, although they may also bend over the water.
- Bending air allows you to use wind to blast things away, forming a shield of air around you, or using a tornado to lift you, or your opponent, off of their feet.
- This bending style is perfect for pacifists and explorers for they lack any raw damage output, but make up for it with their utility and speed.
- Choosing air as your element increases your overall speed, decreases the rate of hunger and disables fall damage.
Chi Blocking
- Specializes in bare handed combat.
- Move faster, jump higher, take less fall damage.
- Can block someones chi, stopping them from Bending for a short period of time.
- Abilities range from Higher Jumps, Faster Punches, and Paralysis of enemies.
HELP! It's not working!
This is a Bukkit plugin, not a single player mod. It will never be a single player mod. Go to the Bukkit Wiki to set up your own server. You can play on it just like you would single player, and it requires nothing more than setting it up.
If anything is not working, look around for a development build of Bending.
Development progress
School has picked back up, so plugin development will be very intermittent at best. I've done away with the ordered releases, and will most likely be keeping 1.0.7 the "official" version until I release it as 1.1.0. It's a jump, I know, but if I were forced to stick to a schedule, the plugin would never get done. This is because there are things I like coding and want to code now, and I shouldn't have to wait just because I have something else planned for the version.
As such, there is no ETA on the release. The dev build will of course be updated as I add features, but 1.1.0 will only be officially released when everything is completed, and that could take a very long time.

THEY AREN'T SPELLS! They're abilities :3. But as sehun stated, you can edit the cooldown, dissipation, and power on a lot of the abilities. A few months ago, firebending would have been seen as overpowered, however all of the elements are quite even now.

Hey. You can edit the firebending cooldown in the bending files and also, you can add a plugin or use worlfguard to stop firespread or fires. Also, it is pretty balanced. After all, firebenders can also burn themselves and the other bending types have neat tricks, attacks, and so forth.

Posted Nov 21, 2012I'm really looking forward to seeing this plugin getting bigger and bigger. However, as I had a bit of experience with using this plugin, I had a small question, don't you think Firebenders are too Over Powered because of the damage fire does and almost no cooldowns on the spells. I mean, I understand that it's not supposed to be an RPG but this would just ruin the game a bit for people if firebenders always win PvP fights. Shouldn't there be more thoughts about balancing it?

Though I appreciate it, trust me - I don't need suggestions :P The plugin itself is pretty well complete minus tweaks here and there.
Use /b h surge, it explains how to freeze the wave. You tap shift when the wave is en route.
I'm not sure exactly where I want to go with Chiblockers, but due to Bukkit limitations I don't think that wall running or climbing can happen.
Avatar State is intended to be OP. While, sure, Avatars can in theory die in the Avatar State, they don't - this is evidenced by the fact that Avatars still exist :P The obvious exception is with a sneak attack stroke of lightning while Aang was basically charging up the first time he'd ever consciously gone into the Avatar State. It is intended to be basically invincible and overpowered, and is quite successful in that.
Right-clicking will not be how to bend, ever, given that it doesn't cause your character to move its arms (and animation is definitely key to the style of bending, in my opinion).
Raising and lowering earth can be controlled by looking at a particular block in that column. Doing it similar to bloodbending would be bulky, unintuitive, and greatly reduce the speed and effectiveness of the move.

Posted Nov 21, 2012The only reason why we saw them blood benders was because they were bad, the amount of water benders actually able to us it would have been so low. Not gonna argue ideas by you, just gonna keep suggesting till i run out and hope that you use them It'd be nice if it's for all abilities. Thanks. Yeah. The leather is a nice touch to it and I get why it's there but it's also the problem with that ability.
Iv seen people turn the water from surge into ice but none of them have known how they did it. I saw you mention this in your FAQs so i know its not a glitch, what are the controls to do this?
Chi blocker Wall running, going up a wall like a spider but with a set time to how long it last, I guess passive
Avatar state. way to OP, at least have a way for them to die? Maybe lower health regain than the current bonus. Even in the show Avatars could die in Avatar state (last episode of book 2 is a good example.)
Air blast and air suction, left click and right click rather than being separate abilities, still using shift for the select I assume.
Being able to raise/collapse earth more controllably. Moving it up a block or two rather than the full config amount or this being a completely different move. Edit: Worked out a better way to explain this whilst making my morning coffee.. Holding sneak and then moving the mouse up or down which would raise or lower the earth. Kinda like when blood bending a cow i guess.
Rain bending, i know you said no to someone about this but they didnt ask if it the water would just spawn and then fired which would look like it was bended from the rain.
Well im out of ideas/suggestions.. for now.. ;)

That's correct, only waterbending abilities have been coded to make FastSwimming stop, although I probably should do it for all abilities.
It is possible, simply go into the config and allow bending with weapons.
I wasn't aware EarthArmor did this, I'll check it out. The two abilities that have additional "revert" options in the config are EarthBlast and EarthTunnel - simply for additional customization. If revert is on - well I'm sure you know what that means. However, if revert is off for those particular abilities, then EarthBlast will break the rock when it hits and drop the item it would give, then would not revert. Similarly, if revert was set to false for EarthTunnel, when you tunneled into earth each block would break as if broken with the appropriate pickaxe.
No on Sozin's comet or eclipses.
Yes, I -could- make bloodbending usable at night, but that would do nothing to make it balanced and good for general use. So I opted to make it available whenever, since as we saw 3 of the 5 bloodbenders in the entire universe were able to do so in broad daylight.
@AndrixLv
If you're referring to FireBlast, it's because you have "particles" turned off. If you're referring to Fireball, it's because that ability no longer exists, as was put into FireBlast as a charge feature.
@kukie1
No, it's not active. I just reply on this page several times a day because I am a mean person. [/sarcasm] Yeah, it's active, and as I have stated many times before, a new dev build will come out when Bukkit releases its next recommended build.

Posted Nov 21, 2012I would edit my comment but won't let me for some reason. Anyway to make blood bending only able to use at night? Even master water benders in the show couldn't do it during the day it was only those with unique abilitys like Amon in legend of Korra.

Posted Nov 21, 2012@orion304 Thanks for the permissions. Adding in a way to customize plant bending to use other blocks such as logs.
A (I think it was) bug, water bending swimming is meant to be canceled out when other bending abilitys in that slot use shift but that doesn't work with earth tunnel. I don't know if it's meant to be like that or not.
In one scene of the show there is a earth bender use hammers, is it possible for left click abilitys to still work with swords?
Oh I just remember the thing, with earth armor it takes away the armor you had on if the revert for earth bending is set to false. Any way to make a way to stop this? I noticed there is single reverts for certain moves, what about that?
A Sozins comet luner and solar eclipse? A simple message in chat to everyone saying its happening? Haven't really thought about this but I think it would be pretty cool.
Sorry for the long message. Once again, I love your mod. :)

You're welcome. It'll be out when Bukkit releases a new recommended build.
It depends on your permissions plugin. For example, with PEX, you can do "/pex user <name> add bending.water.bloodbending" to allow them to bloodbend. There's a list of permission nodes on this page. AvatarState's permissions apparently has issues that I will try to resolve at some point.
Of course I'd love for the plugin to be 100% in line with the series, but technical considerations and limitations absolutely must be taken into account. Additionally, I definitely don't think it's backwards. Waterbending is far more "flowy", and the water raising before firing is certainly in line with the series. Additionally, many many times in Earthbending, earth was raised then manipulated. Again, I'm not disagreeing that often times a hunk of rock was levitated, then fired, but for many issues I won't go into, Bukkit and Minecraft cannot handle that intuitively.
The Avatar Wiki is not the end-all, and actually referred to the ability as "Tremorsense" when the plugin/ability was made. I looked it up and you're right, the name has since been changed to Seismic Sense - however I see no references where the ability itself has been named in the series or the comic followups. Additionally, "Tremorsense" is a nice parallel with the D&D ability of identical functionality.
Read the FAQ about the RPG part.

Posted Nov 20, 2012@orion304 Thank you for fixing the air scooter.
"There are permissions for everything, including Bloodbending and AvatarState. And it can be customized person to person, with your favorite permissions plugin." What are the commands?
"ll to do with how fundamentally different earth is from water in Minecraft." Thought you were going by the show? In my opinion from the show the settings you have are backwards.
The proper name for Tremorsense is Seismic Sense if that means anything for a name change. Check Toph Beifong's Avatar wiki page to see what I mean.
A RPG sense to the mod. Once they hit a certain level they have access to a certain bending ability. Example, level 20 gives them the ability to raise earth and collapse it.
There was one more thing I had in mind but seemed to have forgotten it. Thank you for reading this and hopefully considering some of my ideas.
Edit: Oh god, the way i explain things are horrible. Ill explain more if later if you didn't get it. Sorry.

I do not have the ability to go through and be sure, but I believe the plugin currently checks for if the bending is harmless first, then checks for permissions. So if you, for example, use AirSpout (with the current dev build), and don't have permission to use it, you can still use it since it's harmless - something I definitely don't want to be the case and will fix when Thanksgiving is over.

Hm, I just checked it. It seems there are certain things that completely ignore permissions bit, but bending.* definitely worked to block commands issued by it. Make sure you have the most recent dev build, although I'm pretty sure 1.0.7 includes the revamped command interface. I'll certainly go through and polish things though.
