Description
Minecraft Battlefront is a "Battlefield"-like game you can play on your server. Two teams of players will fight against each by capturing and defending strategic places (called flags) on the map. The more flags a team controls, the closer it will get to victory!
Game mechanics
On the battlefield are some strategic places the two teams have to capture. These are called flags and consist of a central stonebrick pillar with wool on top. The wool will change its color according to the team controlling the flag. Around the central pillar are 4 larger pillars indicating the area you have to be in when capturing a flag. When you enter the area between the outer pillars, the wool will turn yellow to indicate that this flag is beeing captured. After a while the wool will turn to your team color. That means you have captured this flag and can continue your campaign to the next flag - congratulations!
But how to win this game?
That is where the reinforcements come in. Each team has a certain number of "reinforcement points". These points are kind of the "health points" for your whole team. The team with less flags under its control will constantly lose reinforcement points. If one team runs out of reinforcement points, the other team wins the game. Simple but challenging!
(Planned) features
- easy setup of multiple arenas
- easy placing of strategic flags
- arenas can cover the whole map
- colored wool indicates which team controls a flag
- a beacon beam marks the position of a flag
- commands that edit everything in-game

Progress
Currently I am working on the setup of the game. So there is no playable version, yet. I will do my best and continue my work in my spare time, so please be patient!
Configuration and usage
Commands
(There will be more once the first playable version is released.)
- /bfconfig <reload|save|activate> - Load, save and activate the config (see configuration concept for details).
- /bfarena <add|remove> [arena] - Manage arenas.
- /bfspawn [arena] (<1|2>) - Set the team spawnpoints. The number defines the team (team 1 or team 2).
- /bfflag <add [arena] <0|1|2> [flag]|remove [arena] [flag]> - Manage strategic flags on the battlefield. The number defines the team that controls the flag when the game begins (neutral flag, team 1 or team 2).
Permissions
- bf.command.config: use the /bfconfig command
- bf.command.arena: use the /bfarena command
- bf.command.spawn: use the /bfspawn command
- bf.command.flag: use the /bfflag command

Posted Mar 28, 2013@astro, ad how do you change wools color? I'm not a redstone genius, but I don't think you can edit blocks like that.

You can use the new Scoreboard system, comparators, and command blocks to do everything this plugin does. Just FYI.

I did not think of actually rebuilding a battlefield map, but that looks awesome! Hope to get to make my own map soon, but I'll have to code the whole plugin first :)

Posted Jan 22, 2013Somehow this reminds me of battlefield, actually, it sort of is battlefield! Conquest for the win! Anyway, seems like it's going to be great!
