Why? So you don't have to place torches while cave exploring. Made for use with donators(as you can bypass some world perms with it). Since 1.2.3 lighting is client-sided, but who says you can't create it using the server?
Permissions
ml.use - Allows the player to use /ml
Commands
/ml - Toggles your Magic Light.
Todo
- Make the block look like it was before.
- Act as whatever block it changed.
- Drop whatever block was there before.
- Reset the block back when you type /ml again.
Bugs
Flowers/Mushrooms/Reeds/Other Crops and etc. get destroyed when you walk over them(it's replacing the grass/sand/farmland with a jack o' lantern). The Jack o' Lantern doesn't get removed when you type /ml.

Posted Mar 2, 2015I would suggest using packets to fake out a jacko lantern because placing them normally causes lags on big serves and provides free items.

There is no way to make a plugin like that but there is a client side mod called dynamic lights that does do that, as well as stuff with glowstone and other related blocks.

This is more possible than you think, You can fake out the client.
Does this have a github page?...If you add me in as an author and set me with collaborate on github, I can work on a bug fix or two. I think you are doing things the hard way.

Sorry, this isn't possible since 1.2.3, They changed lighting to client side. I can make it so it makes a jack o' lantern appear when you hold a torch. It's close enough!
