LivingPlants
Living Plants
Overview
LivingPlants is a Bukkit plugin for Minecraft that will periodically grow plants in loaded chunks. Almost everything in this plugin is configurable to give server owners as much control over their plants as possible.
What Grows Where?
In the default case, the plugin grows the following plants in the following biomes:
| Biome | Plants |
|---|---|
| Plains | Tall grass, dandelions, poppies, oxeye daisies, azure bluets, tulips |
| Desert | Dead bushes, cacti, sugar cane |
| Forest | Tall grass, dandelions, poppies |
| Extreme Hills | Tall grass, dandelions, poppies |
| Swampland | Tall grass, blue orchids |
| Jungle | Tall grass, ferns, dandelions, poppies |
| Flower Forest | Tall grass, poppies, allium, azure bluets, tulips, oxeye daisies |
| Mesa | Dead bushes, cacti |
| Savanna | Tall grass |
| Taiga | Tall grass, ferns, dandelions, poppies |
Commands
There are no commands for this plugin. All configuration must be done in the config.yml file by the server administrator.
Configuration
This plugin will work without any configuration by the user. Simply place the .jar file in the plugins folder and you're good to go. However, some users will want more control over the behaviour of the plugin.
The config.yml file will give you complete control over the behaviour of the plugin, including how fast plants grow and which plants grow in which biomes. More details on the configuration options can be found here.
Planned Features
- Grow two high plants (sunflowers, roses, etc.)
- Grow trees in forest biomes
- Grow moss on stone bricks and cobblestone
- Grow lily pads in swamp biomes
- Grow mushrooms in dark areas in swamp biomes

Posted Nov 8, 2014Holy crap I was just thinking that a plugin like this was exactly what my server needed!
Only 10 Downloads so far?! What's wrong with people!? Having a server essentially live and breathe as players interact with it, slowly growing and changing.. That's epic!
I just spent 10 minutes bone-mealing the crap out of a plains biome because players went through and broke all the little grass things for seeds.
My only concern is the stress something like this may put on a server? It can't be that bad I'm sure, only in loaded chunks and all that..
Do these spread from existing plants, or just sprout at random on their own?
Also, will the trees be configurable to spread anywhere we choose to too? I know they're not added yet, but I can hardly wait for those! ^.^
