LikeSigns
LikeSigns adds the Facebook like button to minecraft and allows you to show your appreciation for something a player did or to just brag about how your building has more likes then the next guy's.
How to use
- Drop the plugin in your plugins folder
- Put [like] on the top row of a sign
- Right click a LikeSign to like it :)
Features
- Only uses the signs as data and thus allows the signs to be moved with things like WorldEdit or restored from a backup.
- You can only delete your own LikeSigns (except if done with something like WorldEdit)
- You can not Like your own LikeSign
- You can only give a specific player 1 like every 24 hours
- You can like a maximum of 3 LikeSigns every 24 hours
- Can give money to players that get likes (requires vault http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/vault/)
Config
Money reward: 10 # money a player gets when his sign is liked, requires Vault
Commands
None
Permissions
likesigns.create: Lets players make LikeSigns.
likesigns.like: Lets players give likes.
likesigns.break: Lets players destroy LikeSigns that aren't theirs.
Todo (if there's demand for it)
- configurable amount of likes a player can give each day

Ah yes, I see how giving players permission to place colored signs might cause problems. Should be easy to fix. Not going to make any promises because I'm currently doing an internship abroad and don't have a lot of spare time. But when I do get to it I'll also finally add those extra configuration options.

I don't think I'm going to add LWC support because I like to keep this plugin simple and have it just work without any dependencies or back-end to worry about. Unless maybe you can bring up some really good arguments on why you think it would make the plugin better.
And with customisation of the name do you mean like nicknames? That would also require some back-end file linking the nicknames to their real names.
I know I'm being very conservative in denying feature requests to this plugin but this is actually my favourite plugin exactly because it's so simple it just works every time. In fact you could still run v0.1 perfectly fine and only be missing out on some added features.

Players who don't have permission to create like signs can place down a sign with
Line 1 &a[Like]
Line 2 &aNotch
Line 3
Line 4 &a9000 likes
It it creates a legitimate like sign for the player Notch with 9000 likes, which then becomes 9001 after liking it. I would appreciate a fix.
Also to note, I give my players the ability to make colored signs, so you may need to add "&a[Like]" to the banned list of 1st lines to making a sign.

No, if the plugin detects that [like] is written on the first line it wipes the sign and starts filling in the apropriate data. Only if you give people access to a plugin that can edit signs after being placed you can cheat it.

Posted Jan 28, 2014The inherent issue of storing everything on the sign is that it can just be manipulated by anybody. I can just write the like sign in green and the amount of likes i want in text and it'll add 1 to whatever I've written.
Not suitable for a public server.

Yeah I know it's bad practice, sorry about that. I got lazy and never expected this plugin to get this many downloads. I'll see if I can put some time into the plugin after my exams are over. The source code is included though so you could always go change the hard-coded values.

Still works fine and probably will for a loooong time. It only uses parts of the bukkit API that are unlikely to change. If I do update this plugin it would be to add new features.

Feature request: Give -1 instead of +1, by for example, hitting the sign while sneaking, or hitting it with a specific item in hand.
