A helpful tutorial!
We have finally made a YouTube video using iSail, and how to use it. The link is below!

We have created this plugin, since there is currently no well-functioning plugins for ships that is well updated at the moment. This plugin will realize sailing and sea battles.
To do
- Improve sails manipulations
- Improve sinking (50% done)
- Make autorefreshing of ships
Features
- Realistic movement of ships
- Realistic turning
- Ships take damage from accidents
- Speed, acceleration, and turning depends on its size and sails
- Realistic takelage of ship
- Pumps (fast drain of water)
- Fast quenching of fire
- Climbing
- Small protection in shipyards
- Realistic fire: blocks burns for a longer time, and rain doesn't quench fire. It's made for removing broken masts from the game and for the smooth burning of everything. Otherwise ships may burn quickly
- Ship may kill players
- Cannons integration!
Installing
Soon will be downloaded archive with plugin and config file. Just unpack it into folder "plugins".

OR
Be prepared, because the creation of a ship needs a lot of time. Ready? Click! (wait until pages and movie will finish)
Warning
If you see messages like "no ship detected", know: You have to stay on ship in moment of moving to be part of the crew of the ship! Otherwise the ship won't add you to the crew!
If you fell out off your ship, know: you were not on the ship or you tripped and fell off. You have to sneak to hold on unstable place, like a mast or the edge of the ship.
Redstone don't moves!
All inventory blocks don't moves (you can only use it while ship is staying) ! But you can to use vaults or minecart chests.
If your configuration file doesn't works, just copy default configuration

Cannons plugin is very configurable. I think, this plugin is very good. If you don't like it, you shall read instruction of Cannons plugin.

Look. Smooth moving it is moving without lags. Blocks teleports every coufigurable time. By default time is ten seconds, so you can add and destroy blocks of ship.

Yeah, this is the impression we had too, that it was like zeppelin mod or archimedes except usable for bukkit without client modding. We used a combo of boatmod and autocraft until recently but had to remove them due to security problems with them. If iSail will be basically a more physics-oriented and realistic version of them that is still great and we will use it but I'll admit this clarification is a disappointment and perhaps the plugin description should be clarified a bit.

So wait, you're saying that the ships will move similarly to how movecraft and autocraft did it? I was under the impression that they'd move like the basic minecraft boats, or like how the zepplin mod worked. Both movecraft and autocraft lagged the heck out of my server and I was hoping to avoid ship mods that worked on a jumping-block method. Don't get me wrong, its still a good step in the right direction for many people who want a ship mod but... it wont work for my server if it uses the kind of movement I'm avoiding. =\

Don't misunderstand "smooth movement", it's not "smooth" as in the way Minecarts and Pigs work, but "smooth" as in the ship jump forward a number of blocks for each given amount of time. There is a way to make entities out of blocks with Bukkit, but it would cause lag so bad that a server would be rendered unplayable. The current system of movement ensures that your server will remain fast, and that lag will be kept to a minimum, allowing JIJI to add more advanced features such as health, sails, and turning.

Cannons is a plugin made by DerPavlov; it's a separate plugin that you will need to install alongside iSail. I've used it myself during my server management days, and it's a pretty good plugin, albeit hard to use until you figure out how everything works. So don't worry about cannons, they should be great.

Posted Jul 18, 2013Realistic physics damage is just incredible and then smooth movement in itself in Bukkit in itself was amazing. Will iSail require Cannons to be installed or is Cannons integrated into iSail, or is it optional?

Try to park car at speed over 90 km/hour ;)
You may to hit anything of your ship have speed 1 block per 10 seconds. But I recomented use boats or anchors!
Soon I'll finish saving system and config files.

With high speed you'll destroy some blocks of dock and ship ;)

I am not recommented to put ships in a dock, because if ship is big, you may lose controll and hit the dock. You need to rotate wheel wery fast to dock a ship. You shall use boats.
Anyone you may rorate ship with anchor. Anchor will fold anchor's block and sheel can rotate retative to anchor. But anchor must be one and in left or right side of ship.

Ship can hit block. Ship and block will take damage. And it have lifebar too. Damage ~ Energy (E=mv^2/2), where is "v" = blocks/time.
Sails save wool form and colors.

I do this, but 3 signs: 1 top, 1 down left, 1 down right.

Dude, those are awesome ships. Right now, I think JIJI is more concerned about getting the basics done; however, we will certainly consider this as an option for future updates.

The current sail system, I think, works with signs at the four corners of the sail, plus a sign that controls whether the sail is open or not.
