Inventory Drop Chance
Inventory Drop Chance
Version: v1.6
(Follow me on Twitter for updates!)
Inventory Drop Chance is a plugin created by Staartvin from a request by DerekZil.
Do you want to your server to be a little more RPG-ish? Are people frustrated by losing items on death?
Well, then Inventory Drop Chance (IDC for short) is something for you! IDC allows admins to set a percentage of retained items on death. The retain percentage is configurable. When a player dies, x% of his/her inventory will be given back. The items that are not given back are dropped on the ground. All items get chosen randomly. This is to prevent players from cheating. You can also specify a delete percentage. IDC will then remove a percentage of the inventory (Those items aren't dropped nor given back). IDC also has custom WorldGuard flags that can be used. These flags are: 'xploss-percentage', 'retain-percentage' and 'delete-percentage'. You can also setup blacklisted or whitelist items. In short, this plugin is super customisable.
Features:
- Can give players x% of their dropped items back.
- Can delete a percentage of their inventory on death.
- Very lightweight
- Extremely simple
- Drop and play
- Permissions
- Multiworld support
- Group based (Example: Give a donor rank 20% loss, but a noob group 100% loss)
- WorldGuard integration (Custom flags 'retain-percentage' and 'delete-percentage')
- Whitelist and blacklists (Some items will always be dropped, some are always kept)
- Automatic version checking
Permissions:
- - idc.group.<groupname> A player with this permission is bound to a group. All percentages are based on a group. If a player hasn't got this permission, it will lose all their xp and items. Just like vanilla Minecraft.
- -idc.keepallitems A player with this permission will retain all of his items when (s)he dies.
- -idc.keepxp A player with this permission will keep all their xp.
- -idc.noticeonupdate A player with this permission will get noticed when a new version of IDC is available.
Commands:
- None yet

Haha, being admin can sometimes be a pain. Great you worked it out! If you have any problems or questions, just ask!
@Senophoe
Thanks for your suggestion! I'll take a look at it and see if I can get it working. It might not be possible with the current setup I use, but that is subject to change ;)

The whitelist and blacklist are awesome: now IDC is by far the most flexible plugin of it's kind. Thank you for your great work, Staartvin.
A suggestion is to add an extra random factor to the dropped items. This far, whenever an item is dropped, the whole stack is lost. Add an option so only a random number of items is lost, and not the whole stack.

Sorry about the delay (work). The problem looks to be on the MPServs console application. After attempting to search for all 'config.yml' then reading each one I found the right one. It was in the proper directory - just not being displayed. After the search it now shows up in the correct directory - really weird.
Thank you for your effort and quick response, it is much appreciated. Looking forward to using this plugin.

No, not in your server console. You can try /version it might show you something If you have access to command prompt or something like that, try "java -version"

I am on a remote host (MPServ) and am having trouble figuring out the OS (been poking around the website). Is there a console command that would help?
thanks

Posted May 24, 2013Hi Staartvin,
I stopped my server, deleted the inventory folder and restarted (hoping for a clean start). Same effect - no config file. I checked my server log and here is the IDC boot section. Perhaps the WGCustomFlags is an issue?
thanks,

It should have created a config in the /plugins/Inventory Drop Chance folder.

Posted May 24, 2013I just installed the plugin and rebooted. The plugins directory is there and 'pl' command says it is ok. But I do not see a config file in the directory, so I am unsure how to set the percentages/groups. Have I missed a step?
thanks

That, sir, is epic. Most of the death-item related plugins are beeing abandoned recently. Glad to see you're work is still here.
