Mechanics

This page is all about how the various mechanics of the plugin work. It's all really quite simple.

Strength

This is very different than the system which Factions uses. In this system, a person's overall skill is calculated based on their kills, deaths, and time played with a few other, arbitrary modifiers. The faction's overall strength is determined by an average of all of the members skill levels. For example:

  • If a faction has three members, one has 11.25 skill, another has 25.22 skill, and the last has 1.05 skill - the faction strength level is 12.50 because that is the average. Basically, any faction with a higher skill level can claim land from a faction with a lower skill level. Skill drops with every death and raises with every kill. So, factions that go out and really do some damage will gain more skill and gain more dominance.

Chunk Limits and Overclaiming

By default, every faction can claim 5 chunks. This maximum increases by 5 per member in the faction. For example, a faction with 2 members can claim 10 chunks while a faction with 20 members can claim 100 chunks. This is displayed in the /fs info [factionid] command which shows (XX/YY). The X is the number of chunks controlled while the Y is the maximum number of chunks that can be controlled. If the X is greater than the Y, then the faction is considered Over Upkeep.

Over Upkeep

When a faction has too many chunks (more than their maximum), then other factions can come in and take the extra chunks, ignoring faction strength. That means it is imperative to unclaim any chunks which are over upkeep because being over upkeep could possibly open the faction up to invasion by a lower ranked faction.

Permissions System

Through the /fs manage command, a faction leader can set up their own permissions within the faction. The faction leader can determine what ranks can do certain management related things in the faction. This is similar to how the Factions plugin uses /fs mod, but you can have several levels of moderator with this management system as permissions are abstract. Currently this system is limited to only commands within this plugin however it is planned to move it so faction leaders can grant certain other permissions (based on their own permissions).

Faction Banking

If the banking system is enabled, then a faction can store money in their bank. An interest system is planned for the future as well as a monetary upkeep system so larger factions cost more to run than smaller factions.
