Hunger Games

Update
Just to confirm everyone's suspicion: yes, this project is dead. It might get reborn at some point, but you should really not expect it to.
Introduction
Hey there! Welcome to the homepage of Hunger Games, the plugin. I created this because I was looking for a challenge, so I thought why not write a decent survival games plugin. I realize that there are many hunger games/survival games plugins out there, which increases the challenge for me: make this plugin stand out from the others. How on earth am I going to do that? By adding unique features to the plugin, features you haven't seen anywhere else.
Redstone Integration
A lot of people construct hunger games maps for simple use in Vanilla Minecraft, thus not requiring any plugins. The mechanics often rely on redstone, and sometimes these maps come with some nice animations too. Replacing all of these cool things with plain text can often give players a bland look, and sometimes ruins the true indie feel to the game. That's why legacy redstone support is out of the box with this plugin. The way this works is by selecting the block that activates the game. This block will be replaced by the game with a redstone torch, when the right conditions are met, eg. counter = 5 to activate some kind of countdown, or counter = 0 to activate some pistons that lift the player up towards their platforms. With this kind of integration, the sky (y=255) is the limit!
Advanced Chest Management
This plugin gives you a wide variety of possibilities to customize each map, and the contents of it's chests. The system allows you to create a "chest type". In a chest type you define what possible items can spawn in that chest, and the amount of items that could spawn in a chest. After you've defined some chest types, you can easily apply those chest types in your new map by putting it into maintenance mode and just placing a chest down. It will automatically give you a menu where you can select which type of chest you want that chest to be, or no specific type at all if you just want to use it as regular decoration. This gives you the possibility to theme each map specifically!
Web compatibility
Hunger Games delivers web compatibility in two ways. JSON streaming can be turned on, which allows you to retrieve live information of all the games that are going on at the very moment. Data streamed:
- Player kills
- People alive
- Time ingame
- Arena name
- Time until the feast
Multi-World Friendly
In this plugin, the choice of multiple worlds is entirely up to you. You can have a separate world for each arena, but running multiple arenas in one single world is perfectly fine too. Even a mix of those two is possible! We try to use as less resources as possible from your server using light-weight code and extensive testing. You no longer need a super-computer to run a survival games server, it probably runs fine on your PC too.

I updated the main post. Yes, the project has been abandoned and will probably never get a release date...
You will need to talk to IvanTheBuilder if you want more info than that. :)

Posted Mar 3, 2014I like the look of the bukkit page :) It seems like it will have some good feautures. Kits would be a good feature to add if you aren't doing them yet.

I did not explicitly say that we would release the plugin at the end of March. I am just setting a deadline. We too want this released as soon as possible...
It all depends on how much time IvanTheBuilder can set aside to developing HungerGames. He is the only developer, and It can take a while to make HungerGames what we want it to be.
You will just have to wait. :)
On a side-note, feel free to ask questions or give suggestions ;)

HungerGames is still not quite ready for public release... :)
I will be talking to IvanTheBuilder about the progress (and future) of the plugin soon, so we can update the main page above with new features and plans. That should help us predict a more precise release date... ;)
I am pretty sure we will have an early version released at least before we hit the end of March, though.
