HealingTotem
HealingTotem
Description
I don't like pork. And I don't like eating it to gain health.
...ok, pork is delicious, but I need motivation for this plugin.
HealingTotems allows players to create totem poles that radiate healing powers and damage mobs. Once a player builds a totem, a "safe bubble" is created where players are continually healed and mobs are continually damaged. Totems are configurable: you can choose which blocks the totem is made out of, the healing power, and the range.
Features
- Configure the totem's structure, the range, and the power of the healing.
- Automatically detects the creation of new totems, no commands necessary. Automatically detects the destruction of a totem.
- Give totems negative power to make them EVIL.
- Players and Mobs are affected.
- Wolves are affected too! Tame wolves are healed, angry wolves are damaged.
- Turn a totem on or off with redstone. Totems are "active low," meaning they are normally on, but can be turned off by applying power.
- Uses Bukkit's built-in permission system.
Todo
- Configurable totem update rate (in server ticks)
- Add maximum stack of regen/degen per totem update (prevents insta-kill or insta-full)
- Add minimum/maximum health values (so that a totem can never kill or never fully heal)
- Add food support
- More options on which entities are affected
- Optional helper commands.
- Fix bugs. Let me know if you find any!

Posted Jan 10, 2013I'm aware the plugin might not work with 1.4.6 due to new maxHealth methods. This was fixed internally and hopefully will be uploaded soon. I'm trying to stack updates for 0.8.4 that I've been coding in the holidays.
I'm now updating the github page more frequently, you can check it for updates and/or issues. (I'll try to get the link to be changed by tprk77)

Posted Dec 24, 2012Ok, I understand. Right now I'm kinda busy but I'll try to add something like that. I'm planning some kind of penalty, like randomly losing 1 block at each totem destroy or add Economy fees to create or even an upkeep cost (everything configurable).

Posted Dec 22, 2012So currently, normal totems are hardwired to heal players and damage mobs. So I was wondering, why not have an option for totems to heal / damage / do nothing to players, mobs, wolves. Maybe in each totem:
healsEntities: [ player , hostile , ally ]
damageEntities: [ neutral , passive ]
I dunno.
I also wanted a totem that heals both players and mobs, because currently it seems that healing totems have no downsides. By having the totems heal mobs as well, it requires players to use totems responsibly, or face risk of mobs healing themselves. May not be a perfect system, but why not.

That's actually easy to do, if you could please elaborate... :) Right now I see that the "affects" boolean variables would be gone and replaced by "damages" and "heals" (which should be mutually exclusive I believe...).
And I actually can't see a situation where you'd want to heal/damage both, if you could tell me, I'm kinda curious.

Posted Dec 21, 2012Healing totems don't work at all (meaning, they don't heal / damage / anything). There is a lightning strike though upon creation.
Also, fall damage seems to be removed when this plugin is active.
EDIT: For some unknown reason it's working again. Huh.
I have a suggestion though. I want a totem that heals both players and mobs, and another totem damages both players and mobs. So why not just have a config for whether the totems damage players or damage mobs, instead of hardwiring it?

Posted Jan 30, 2012So is there any updates in the near future? the 1.1-R2 bukkit version seems to break it. i'm not getting any errors, but building a totem doesn't do anything anymore.

Posted Nov 16, 2011How about a feature where you can select a design with worldedit and use a command to save it to the config? It would be a LOT easier than configuring totems now, because I have some complex designs in mind :P It could just save the design into the config as a default totem then you would be able to modify the damage, radius, name, etc without having to fumble around with x's, y's, and z's. Pleease :3
