Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Feb 2, 2013For some reason, players on our server (mostly new players) in our survival world that uses GP, can't create claims by placing a chest down. They can however create claims using the golden shovel.

Posted Feb 2, 2013Hello, I have a problem. In my server new players are protected from pvp, but older players are not. So when a new player types /siege OLDplayer, newbie is protected. They cannot attack each other, and then they wait until someone dies, off course OLDplayer wants to play, but newbie has time, couse he needs all the diamond armors which OLDplayer has, and he waits until OLDplayer logs off ir dies :) And takes everything :) Is there a permission node to disable siege?

What about with /containertrust?
you could try putting a small water pool at the end of the line and player and cart will fall off the track into it.

Posted Feb 2, 2013I *really* like Grief Prevention. I kick myself up and down the hallway when I remember that I original passed over GP in favor of Precious Stones. Big mistake. The ease of use of this plugin even has first time players of Minecraft easily able to handle it and use it. And even for administrative stuff I prefer the simplicity of GP over the more feature rich WorldGuard (which I also have... for rare admin-only uses that GP doesn't cover). And you can quote me on that.
Unfortunately I am stuck using WG for my train stations because of one tiny-but-significant problem that I can't figure out a solution for. I've looked in all the usual places and I didn't see where this has been mentioned recently.
As I alluded to before, I'm currently building a simple (because simple works better) rail system for my small me-and-some-friends-and-thier-friends server. I use a 1-high cactus with a stone block on top at the end of each line to auto-break the carts without hurting the players. The idea being that players reach the end of the line and the cart breaks underneath them, depositing them about a block away right before the cart drops... it then drops and instantly is collected by the player (they have to provide their own carts to begin with). It was working fine... untill I protected the area with GP.
Now the cactus can't damage the cart... and thus the cart doesn't break... and, since the area is protected and players can't break the cart, they can't get their carts back to move to the outgoing track. Any way to work around this? Making the carts be completely destroyed, both cart and cart drop, would also be a viable option (in which case I would set up an infinite dispenser to provide carts directly to outgoing rail).
I could just use WG for this and call it a day but... I'd really rather not.

Posted Feb 1, 2013@CraftThatBlock - I did disable Smart-Ban but it's acting like it hasn't been disabled. Before I know it there's an IP ban and then everyone that logs in gets added to the Ban List. Nightmare! I'm pretty sure it's Grief Prevention causing it. What version are you running?

Posted Feb 1, 2013BigScary - Is there anyway to stop Grief Prevention from doing the IP block thing? I just setup Bungeecord which is a proxy that sits in front of my servers. It's wreaking havoc. I turned off smartban thinking that would solve the problem but it's not. With a proxy server running I can't ban by the IP address or it will start banning everyone which is what it's doing. Please, Please, help me because I love your plugin and want to keep it. :-(
Best, JAG100

Posted Feb 1, 2013Since this is designed as an 'all-inclusive' griefing protection, I have an idea. I constantly get problems on my server where people build rails but can't claim it all, mostly due to the amount of claim blocks needed. This means that people's rails get griefed, and it's hard to tackle. Can you add in a way so that specific blocks are autoclaimed? For example, if someone places a rail, it will claim it in their name. It could even be expanded to things like furnaces and chests. (I keep the chest autoclaim off, it just creates small messy claims all over the place)

Posted Feb 1, 2013Quick Suggestion bigscary, I'd lke my players to be able to pvp in certain administrative claims, any way to allow pvp once you do /accesstrust public in that claim. Also, some players would like to create their own little arenas where they can pvp and also claim those arenas and be able to PvP inside those places while being protected against pvp in their own home claims.
Also, I'm still having the issue where some of my claims keep dissapearing even though I have claim expiration disabled and hardly any plugins at all besides essentials. I was in an administrative claim last night, modifying it, i backed up my server and restarted and the claim was gone O_O.

No sorry, it's a huge amount of work for something that would be almost never used. Basically there are only two "oops" situations - I destroyed a build because it wasn't claimed (griefers would have wrecked it anyway), or I used /rna underground and it created a giant hole (quickly fixed with /rnf).
@krisdestruction
Please post it. I'm confused why you would get a "cant connect" message just because you deleted a world.
BukkitForge needs to add better plugin support. You asking me to do better at BukkitForge would be like calling Nintendo and telling them to make a better Legend of Zelda because it doesn't work on the emulator you downloaded.
@ManBeastPigDev
Nope, never. Not an anti grief feature, and very likely to wreck everything when I try to put it in. Just not worth the potential damage (lost land claims for example).
@Infuscu
It's the most requested by far of features not implemented. But relative to other stuff people have asked for, it's a tiny blip not worth the nasty pile of bugs it would generate.
@Infuscu
GP's data is stored in memory, which makes it potentially even faster than those plugins (which store all their data in databases). But even the fastest possible might not be good enough. I'm looking into it.
@Stevensaurus
Nope.
@ridddle
Yeah, but it's so difficult to do this on purpose that I haven't bothered to fix it. Like you mentioned, it might not be fixable.
@AbbyMaeTaylor
Okay, I might do that. An option, anyway.

Posted Feb 1, 2013BTW, there is still one way a player can grief a claim – it bit me recently when players decided to use nether portals to link a series of loot shrines on my server. Basically, if you go to the Nether and create a portal there first, it’s possible for the other portal to spawn inside of claimed area. I understand there might be no API to solve this issue, but I thought I would at least bring it to your attention and/or listen while it’s not possible to solve, ever.
Stevensaurus: No, claim data is in a stable format (either files on disk or a solid database), there is no reason to believe a simple update would wreck it.
