Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Mar 9, 2013What is the best way to get the subdivision feature on a tekkit server? (Runs MC 1.2.5 which does not have this feature). Is there a way I can get a later version of this plugin that is still compatible with my tekkit server?

Posted Mar 9, 2013Is there a way to notify players on login or immediately if they’re online (not AFK as defined by the plugin) when one of their claims expired? I see that information in console all the time. If there isn’t any configuration node to handle it, can it be scripted usign GP’s API?

I was actually doing a copy/paste from the description above. I knew you probably weren't running tekkit, but the same rules apply either way. Mods do weird stuff sometimes and usually aren't multiplayer/grief prevention plugin friendly. With the amount of comments, etc. I'm getting in sometimes it's easier to copy/paste something that's already written than having to write out the same thing 10 times in a week.
EDIT: After answering all the comments and support tickets on all my projects today, I've spent over an hour just supporting the plugins I wrote. No actual coding taking place.

This is not an issue with GP. The mining laser is coded to change the world blocks to air, rather than attempt to destroy them with a BlockBreakEvent. This bypasses all plugins that handle that event, including GP. To fix it, you'd have to decompile the Mining Laser class and change it to trigger the proper event.

Posted Mar 8, 2013I don't run Tekkit. Why do people automatically assume IC2 = Tekkit? (I'm rather "mad" as your tone was rather accusing like I'm doing something horribly wrong.) I run a customized JAR with MCPC+ and my own blend of various mods (including IC2).
So I'm assuming you (Tux2) need more time to delve through the plugin code to see if this plugin could stop the mining laser from blasting through into other subdivisions and claims?

Posted Mar 8, 2013This plugin is what made my server idea possible... Thanks bigscary and Tux2! One feature request I can think of right now: When using the gold shovel, can it automatically make subclaims? For example, if I made a claim inside my claim, it would automatically make it instead of saying it overlaps an existing claim. My reasoning for this is that I've had a lot of requests for this 'new' feature from my players, and they can never remember the really long /subdivideclaims command. I think the best plugins are the ones that can do their job without completely relying on commands, and this is the best example i've seen :)

I did check the ticket system, did you read my note at the top? It seems everyone is submitting tickets for one problem or another...
@IndigoParadox
Most of the praise should go to BigScary, the original author. I haven't even touched the codebase yet except forking it and looking through it to see how everything works.
@Acreo_Aeneas
Tekkit is NOT 100% compatible with Bukkit, AND it is not designed for Multiplayer (it was designed for single player). Some Tekkit items and blocks completely bypass all Bukkit plugins, which means they bypass any anti-grief code, are not logged by block loggers, and can't be rolled-back by block loggers. Therefore, a few Tekkit items MUST BE BANNED if you run a public or semi-public server. I highly recommend that you install TekkitCustomizer, because it has a very good default ban list, and it's extremely easy for you to customize.

Posted Mar 7, 2013I'm having a issue. Hopefully someone here has had a similar experience and can recommend a solution.
I have a server with IC2 running with GriefPrevention. I have a large plot of land that is admin claimed (by me) and subdivided into smaller plots (for residents of the server). I love how other players can't destroy outside their subdivision. At least until today.
Apparently with the Mining Laser from IC2, they can shoot and destroy blocks beyond their subdivision. I don't see anyway of restricting the mining laser and changing the ExtendToDepth variable to some large number doesn't seem to help.
Is there any way to prevent the Mining Laser in IC2 from being used to destroy blocks beyond one's subdivision in a admin claim?

Read the comments a page back. The plugin just changed hands and there's some catching up to do.

Posted Jan 15, 2014I am pretty sure you cannot use plugins with the Official Minecraft Server. (minecraft_server.exe, or minecraft_server.jar) I would recommend Spigot, as I have had problems with CraftBukkit. With both platforms, the plugin folder is already there.

Posted Mar 7, 2013I just want to say I've been utilizing this plugin since the beginning of my server and I've never dared to switch. This is hands down the best. Brilliant work. You deserve an award for your excellence and I'm glad to have Grief Prevention as a part of my server. Thanks.
