Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

@CKGAR
Asking "how do I claim" doesn't prompt it, but "how do I claim land" does (+ other variations such as "protect land," etc.) Seems it requires "land" in there.

Posted Jan 12, 2016Update 13.5.2 is here! :)
@maclarenss
I'll work on protecting death drops from damage. GP gradually checks old claims for expiration over time to avoid lagging the server. This means some claims will stick around past the expiration date. I also plan to work on this to make it better, but it will never instantly kill all expired claims the day they expire.
@CKGAR
It still works as far as I know. I'll double-check.

Did you remove the "how do I claim" chat feature? It used to be whenever someone asked how to claim something a little tutorial popped up, but now nothing happens. It was really useful. Thanks!

I don't understand. /UnlockDrops is only necessary if you DO want other players to pick up your drops. They are protected by default. What do you mean by "burn loots them"?
@unclemark
Please look into your server logs to find out why players were softmuted and share those logs with me. I think you will find that you wanted them to quit, because they used racial or homophobic slurs shortly after joining your server for the very first time.

/claimbook <player>
@Cloman
Yep, it's a separate entry in messages.yml. Just remove the {0} placeholder for the URL and directly type your own URL there instead.
@CKGAR
I'll check on it, thanks. :)
@G4MEON
I hadn't heard about that. I'll look into it when 1.9 comes out, but without knowing more that what you've just told me I'm guessing that yes, GP will override that for only the special land claiming shovel.
@mirolm
There's a config option to protect fire. It's turned off by default because determining whether or not a particular flame should be protected is shockingly expensive - it means that every time a player left-clicks any block, GP has to determine whether or not that action would be putting out an adjacent fire (this is the expensive part), then also determine whether or not that fire is in a land claim and whether the player left-clicking has permission to put it out.
Happy new year. :)

Posted Jan 4, 2016Happy New Year to @bigscary and everyone here :)
As i started to use GriefPrevention on my server i see alot less grief problems. There is only one thing i get sometimes complains with - players have "fireplaces" in their houses and it is possible to put fire off even if you are in other player's claim.
I do not know exactly how they do this, but i can test a little and post exact steps to reproduce it.

With the 1.9 update and the new grass path, right clicking with a shovel creates the path. Will grief prevention over ride this when a gold shovel is used?
Many thanks.

No, sorry - players like that monsters can activate touchplates because they use them to build all kinds of cool redstone contraptions. As long as monsters are allowed, it doesn't make sense to stop players because they could easily bait or push monsters onto the plates as a workaround. If a player wants security vs. other players, buttons and levers can do that.
@Jemrada
Permissions are definitely not broken - I'm sure I would be absolutely flooded with complaints if they were. Please have another look at your settings, or at least be more specific about the problem.

Posted Dec 28, 2015I am using PEX for my permissions. It seems its not working. I have not set any permissions and players can create, modify claims. Do I have to enable or disable this first?
All permissions in GP config are set to true. I left those to default setting.

Woohoo!
Also, just wanted to put in a Feature Request if you don't mind. It would be great if there was an option in the config to class pressure plates like buttons, so only those who have access trust can activate the pressure plates.
Would appreciate if this could be added in a future update :)

If you want to allow public work, then place an administrative land claim where you want the work done, and then /trust the players who will do the work. Sorry, I'm not going to invest more in this claims mode because it gets extremely complicated very quickly, and I think impossible to code it so that everyone is satisfied. You'll have to work with it as-is.
/IgnoreClaims completely ignores all land claims, so I think it's not a good fit for this scenario. You'd have to have a trustworthy moderator literally watching their every move for the full exception time period, otherwise they could grief absolutely anything. That definitely doesn't fit GP's "minimize administrator effort" motto.
@kroko1992
WorldEdit is an administrative tool by design. If I made that a default feature, server owners and admins would complain that they can't edit where they want to even though they own the server and should be able to do whatever they want. /IgnoreClaims isn't a good solution because it totally ignores all land claim rules so it's not appropriate for an admin who isn't 100% trusted in all matters. I could make it a config option, but then owners would still complain that they have to change the config option situationally... nobody's ever happy. If anyone should weather the shitstorm that comes from changing the fundamental design principles of WorldEdit, that should be the WorldEdit dev. Which is why I'm betting it has never been changed.

Why don't you ask Towny, Factions, etc... it's because WorldEdit does not fire events for block placing/breaking/whatever (since it's assumed it's being used an administrative tool). Anyways, I suggest using either fast async worldedit or AsyncWorldEdit with BlocksHub to provide GriefPrevention support.
