Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Please take a few moments to vote for Grief Prevention! :) We're only 35 total 5-star reviews away from being the top plugin on the spigot site, which is absolutely a reachable goal. Thanks for your support! http://www.spigotmc.org/resources/griefprevention.1884/
@ridddle
Tried the horse and pig thing, couldn't get any crops trampled. Please have another look? I even tried jumping up and down with the horse. Is it possible a player misdiagnosed soil reverting to dirt/grass because it wasn't planted or close to water source?
@Turbotailz
Added that to my rather short todo list. :)

Luficer is right about not adding that to the core plugin. However I think Flags doesn't work with recent versions of GP. I think there's an updated GP Flags plugin though which may have what you want (it's a flags plugin specifically made for GP).
@ridddle
Good catch, added to the todo list.

Posted Jan 12, 2015@bigscary Thanks! Can I send another bug report? :D Players on horses can trample crops. Oopsie. I mean, mobs should be able to but horses (and I presume, Saddled Pigs) have this one little problem where a player can steer them :)

Claim flags have been something a lot of people have requested before, but it's something BigScary has declined repetitively (since it has little to do with preventing grief) - This is better accomplished with an additional plugin, maybe look into Flags, I haven't tested the plugin myself.
Be aware though that such plugins can increase stress on the server as they almost always add additional processes to events that are triggered very frequently (like players moving)

Posted Jan 12, 2015Howdy,
Just a general usage question.
Is it possible with just the following plugins: worldguard / worldedit + griefprevention
To enable greetings/farewells when a player enters/leaves a GP claim? I've been looking at setting custom WorldGuard flags or by using, worldguard-regions but I was trying to avoid too much WorldGuard modifications and try to set everything up with GP.
If its not possible, no big deal, consider it a feature request.
All The Best,
Kotori

Well, it may be fixed for entirely blank signs, but I still see a lot that don't appear to have text, but come to think of it, it may have nothing but spaces on maybe the first line; happens a good bit if you're flying and want to place a sign against another sign, in which case you have to hold the jump and sneak keys to keep from flying up or descending while placing another sign, then you may spam the sign with some spaces since you'd still be holding the ascend key. Maybe as an additional check, remove spaces from the lines to see if there's still text there afterwards?

Oh brother. Villagers don’t have infinite inventory and their 1.8 restocking rules mean that it might be really really expensive to open up a trade that ran dry. I might go into details if you want me to but generally speaking anyone who is serious about villagers on a server with GP should lock them behind double walls (I mean it, you can break a block and in the pause between it reappearing right click the villie). Certain villagers with high enchantment level gear can cost hundreds of emeralds to open up – that investment can be removed by someone who just walks into someone’s trading area and uses up all the best trades, without worrying about restocking.
tl;dr: Villager trades are a big big big deal, not infinite chests.
Also, players still report being able to create claims and go into negative claim blocks when drawing a rect.

@Luficer
Hmm thought I did this already, will check again. Maybe it was broken somewhere along the way.
@ridddle
On the villagers thing, is there any damage done? Does the villager for example run out of inventory?
Alright, will work on a cooldown period for the message.
@cabera2
Ooh, didn't know anyone could do that. I'll make it build trust, same as repeater settings.
@DanSpedey
Hmm... I just checked this yesterday and it seemed OK. Did you remember to /gpreload or /reload or reboot after you changed the setting?
If yes, please check your logs when opening a door that should be locked for any error messages, or check that the GP version you downloaded is made for your server version (1.8, 1.7, etc).
If none of that solves the problem, please give me more information. What type of door? How are players opening it - right click, left click, touchplate, button...?

Well, bulding a wall where you want it to be because you know you’ll have enough claim blocks to expand claim in 1-2h is acceptable to me. I think 8.x branch simply had a fixed # of blocks to remind the player about unclaimed land and it worked great when set to 100.
I think
/givepet cancelis fine :)Also, bug report (10.2.2 here): players can trade with villagers even if they don’t have container trust. Did a reduced plugin test, still the case: https://v.usetapes.com/ZDTvUrzwFH

Posted Jan 11, 2015Another suggestion! I think it'd be nice to prevent eavesdropping from showing up if a sign is blank. Books probably not since ya may wanna know when someone throws a title-less book, but signs, not so much. Not much to derive from someone placing blank signs other than assuming they're making a grinder or a chair XD Can get a bit spammy for listeners in the grinder instance.

@ridddle
Had some thoughts, coming back to these.
On givepet timeout, is it really necessary you think? When a player uses /givepet, the message tells them they can /givepet cancel if they change their minds.
On in/out spam, is there a legit case where players are buiding in/out with blocks they want to keep? Lots of block types are ignored, like dirt and sand for example.

Yep, see setup/config page about limiting where players can create claims. Basically you can disable land claim creation in all worlds except your survival worlds, and when claims are turned off almost everything else is as well (exceptions that spring to mind are pvp rules if you have them enabled, and chat spam filter).
If you config that way and notice any rules/limitations still impacting worlds where you have disabled land claims that you really don't want, let me know and I'll rethink/adjust. :)
