Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

9.1 Is the last version before it was updated for 1.8, so that would work best I would presume :)

Hey there! You probably remember me and all my issues haha. I come bearing a suggestion. A player requested to be able to use TNT to explosive mine. I think you could probably implement allowing TNT/Creepers to explode below a certain level, sort of like you used to have the water placement.
I read the post below this and see that you cannot tell the difference between TNT and Creeper explosions, so allowing both would be fine. It would definitely be configurable, possibly with a "tnt-below-level: xx" xx being the level you would want to allow TNT to explode at, and having a true/false to allow or disallow this.
I've had probably 10-15 people ask me if they were able to TNT mine. I think it'd be a cool feature. Thank you for your time :)

Posted Dec 29, 2014Someone (sorry, I lost the comment...) asked me to allow environmental damage to vehicles like minecarts in land claims, since destroying the carts can be an important part of a complete system.
As it turns out, I can't do that safely. When a vehicle takes damage from fire, lava, explosion, or other environmental damage, bukkit reports it all as the same thing. That means I can't separate TNT and Creeper explosions (which griefers could cause near claimed minecarts) from lava and fire. So my decision is to not allow any of it, since that's the safe option. Sorry! :\
@dark_miner42
Either you're using GriefPrevention for 1.8 on a server which is not 1.8, or you're on 1.8 but grabbed the wrong JAR file from your builttools.jar output. If the former, update to 1.8 or use an older version of GriefPrevention. If the latter, download the latest buildtools.jar and run it again. This time, choose one of the two JAR files which appear in the top level folder (same folder as your buildtools.jar file).
@LordBoos
Thanks for the bug report, I'll look into it.
@ridddle
You can give a group this permission to exempt them from claim count rules (yes, I know I need to update my docs for this and for /gpblockinfo).
griefprevention.overrideclaimcountlimit
@iKDABRA
25x25=625, not 250 or 2500. :) But yes, that extend distance will guarantee instant to bedrock. However I recommend leaving the default extend distance, since building lower will automatically extend claims downward as needed, and this way new player land claims won't stop established players from mining.
@3sM
I'll check into this - there's already an option, but maybe there's a bug I need to fix.
@Charitys
Please explain what you mean by "spam a head"?
@CloakedAlien
Sadly, still chasing that bug... I will see if there's anything I can do to get some debug info in there without spamming the hell out of everybody.
@ChazimOne
Water and lava aren't restricted to land claims anymore. Players hated it (troublesome for farming, which almost everyone does before they get a golden shovel), and the main reason for having it (performance problems) was remedied. Fortunately, lava is difficult to come by in big quantities except for the rare surface lava pool. And both can be very quickly cleaned up with /restorenature.
If you have any ideas for how to automatically stop bucket griefing without causing a problem for farmers, please share! :)
@MPigna
First, you're running a very old version which doesn't include the new "protect dropped items" feature.
Second, according to your config, dumping lava on and near other players is allowed in the "KitPVP" world.

Posted Dec 29, 2014What has happened to Water and Lava placement rules? I can't find anywhere for them to be enforced. Currently anyone can grief like crazy with water and lava on unclaimed land.

Not sure at what version, if you've found it and fixed it you can probably ignore it.
If you want to have me run a debug version or something that logs extra data then I'd be quite happy to =)

Posted Dec 27, 2014Hi there,
I have a 1.7.10 server and i'm using griefprevention v8.6 at the moment. We've come across a bug where a player can spam a head under claimed chests and they chest will "break" and spill out all the contents, but the chest doesn't disappear since it's claimed. Is there any way to fix this?

I'd like to disable this.

Would you accept a Pull Request adding per-group claim number limit (
MaximumNumberOfClaimsPerPlayer)? Basically allowing higher ranked players to set more claims than default ranked players. It would be done through Vault, which you already use.We were thinking of extending that
MaximumNumberOfClaimsPerPlayerproperty, allowing it to be either an integer (works like now) or allowing it to become a list:Is this completely out of the question or do you have suggestions we could implement to have the PR accepted?
@LordBoos Works for me. I use 9.8 and flat file storage. I just did
/acb [moreblocks.raider] 5000and it displayed this in return (we have a custom/claimslistoutput but you can see it worked anyway).@madbull277, puffypoper, dark_miner42
All you need to do is read up other comments like yours… literally dozens of them. You need Spigot 1.8, supporting Minecraft 1.8. This is how you get it.

Posted Dec 23, 2014Well this is screencapped from our config file picture
and it appears that the world name is being cut off due to a period in the world name. SMP1.7 - I have tried using double quotes in the YML file with no avail. It seems to do the same in the 1.7.2 world, but still claims are enabled. Not sure - The configs from the 1.7.2 server were copied over so I don't see why it should be any different on the 1.8 server.
this is what the server does after starting to the config file:

By default, from what I noticed when installing this plugin, is that world is the only one that is automatically set to allow claiming. There is an option in the configuration file after you run the plugin for the first time that allows you to adjust the worlds. I would suggest launching the plugin locally (if you use a third party host) and then adjust the configuration files to allow for the worlds you want, then upload it altogether.
Not sure If I made sense, but I gave it my best hoorah.
