Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Where are the files located? I've tried looking but I don't see any way to edit "remaining blocks" without removing the claims of players. I don't know anything about programming or coding or whatever so simply saying, "Do it yourself" is not exactly helpful

Posted Jan 23, 2014Hiya.. I have two questions..
1. Is there an option to prevent mobs from spawning inside the "protected area"?
2. I'm making a community town and I'm wanting to give my friends their own protected lot where they can build a house within the protected town area. Is there an option to set up different protected areas within an already protected area?

Posted Jan 22, 2014hi,
seems like i have to explain my question in more detail: i am running an roleplay server (survival mode) and i want my players to make a claim before they can build, because i do not want them to mess around in the wilderness. i know about the creative claim option but the rules of this are not practicable for me (e.g. not able to toss items on ground, blocks will not drop if broken, ...). is there a way to get the benefits of the creative claim option without the above limitations? if not, you can understand this inquiry as a feature request.
kind regards

You can stop spamming this now. Between your 3 messages and the github comment on a completely unrelated commit, I get the feeling you're a bit obsessed...
@DimaCraft
No. the Dupe bug is not present from my testing. The player is not killed until after their items are drained.
It's possible you have another plugin that implements PvP Logging functionality. If that plugin kills the player before GP has a chance to receive the message, the player wil ldrop their inventory.
@Smac3223
I'm just glad the claims are still intact. However there NEEDS to be some way to reset them to 0. Some are drastically in the negatives and won't be able to claim for weeks.
If you want to fix it, edit the files yourself- they are plain text.
@Ruthless_Gamer
If you are using 7.7 (sounds like it) it doesn't support worlds other than the overworld, nether, and the end.

Posted Jan 22, 2014Having issues with Grief Prevention not working in other worlds. Ive tried places the other worlds names in the Config but all that shows when i reload or restart the server is something along the lines of "the world does not exist please check the config file that the world was put in correctly." Ive checked and rechecked and tried many different ways. Can someone show me how they have it working for them with multiple worlds? Would be of great help. thank you.

Posted Jan 22, 2014At least with the pvplogout issue we can turn the config option off for the time being untill its fixed.
The duplicate claims issue is causing alot of problems however. Im having to manually adjustbonusclaimblocks for people. However that may cause me issues if a "fix negatives to 0" is ever released.
Also with latest build im still getting claim duplication issues which are causing people to go negative now. This did not become apparent until after a server restart just now.

Still, with that much damage done, I'm just glad the claims are still intact. However there NEEDS to be some way to reset them to 0. Some are drastically in the negatives and won't be able to claim for weeks.
Daily the population on my server is just dropping. I'm seeing less and less traffic coming through and it's painfully obvious what's causing it. This damn bug. The few players that have stayed on since they have a claim big enough at the moment still complain about it constantly. Not long though before they get tired of playing by themselves with no others returning and leave as well.
All I need is some way to return their "Remaining Claim Blocks" back to 0 WITHOUT deleting all their claims and I can bump up the "blocks accrued per hour" value up for a weekend and let people earn all they've missed out on. Not an ideal solution but it'll do since I have no other choice do to the data loss.

To be fair, it is sort of a side effect of using development builds. It isn't ideal, but it was your choice to change versions.
I'm in the same boat, so I'm right there with you, luckily I minimized the damage and haven't changed versions since because I'm scared of another data loss.

Posted Jan 21, 2014The PvP rules in the world configs seem to be overwriting themselves after I change them and do /gpreload, although the template file is blank.
It's the same situation when I try to allow players to place fire without needing any permissions.

Posted Jan 21, 2014I don't want to post in the wrong location. What is the best way to inquire about a possible bug with beta 214 build? Basically, the CreativeRules permission (set to true) seems to be half working. With nothing other than default settings, no claims used, I can place blocks in wilderness, but not destroy them.
Should I open a ticket or post this in a different forum or something?

Well then is there some way to revert people back to 0 WITHOUT deleting their claims? There's a ton of them and I can't simply tell my community that all their claims that they'ved worked all month on? Yeah, those are gone. Play the game for another few weeks and hope no one comes to destroy/steal/grief your stuff.
Kinda defeats the purpose of the plugin if they're at risk of being griefed in any way, shape, or form.

Posted Jan 21, 2014Yeah, the players are still in negative claims, but the list of claims is now there and all the data.
The issue is that the plugin has effectively "forgotten" about whatever the period of time was since this broke, to just now.
I'm not sure we'll ever get exact claimblock amounts back, but a command to auto detect negative blocks and adjust to 0 (or a number chosen by admin) would be very nice.

Upon starting the server up players are still in the negatives.
here's hoping a fix comes soon
The data is gone, and no fix can change that. The fix is to prevent that from happening in the first place.

Posted Jan 21, 2014Tried the latest build, shut the server off, deleted the old GriefPrevention Jar file and uploaded this one. Upon starting the server up players are still in the negatives. However when right clicking a claim it says the correct time when they were last logged in. That's pretty much all that's changed.
Once again here's hoping a fix comes soon. Server has been pretty empty since this issue arose..
