Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Usually, I take notes when I make changes. This time I wasn't so thorough. It could have been some minor fix.
No, the cooldown isn't adjustable. I could make it configurable pretty easily, I guess.
@Confuzzled77
Sorry, not adding enter/exit messages. Given the expense (performance speaking), I'd be irresponsible to start tracking movement to enable such a superficial, cosmetic feature. Also it can get spammy, and some jerks will put offensive language in their enter/exit messages, prompting admins to come take action. A very large motivation behind this plugin is eliminating administrative overhead (hence the /trapped command in 1.9), so that would be counterproductive.
@Allu2
Yes, I will eventually add a reference for permissions and commands. I've been putting it off because I've been so focused on adding new features.

If you grab a copy of the .jar file and rename it to .zip, you can open its contents. There you'll find plugin.yml with a summary of all commands and permissions.
@cvxx7q
I'm with you. No need for enter/exit messages. Unrelated to grief prevention.

yes, that would be nice, I had to write all those down manually into a text file, since they are spread over this text and the admin part and videos...

Posted Feb 27, 2012Perhaps a nice list of all the commands somewhere?
I know they can all be found from the text but me and my bad memory has to come and look for the right command quite regularly ^^
Possibility for admins to claim areas as/for other players?

there are no plans nor interest to do enter exit messages, just use a piece of string, makes perfect sense
why get spammed with messages when u find a spot and are curious u can pull out the string and check
i doubt a donation will swindle this, even for a nice sandwich...

Posted Feb 26, 2012Finally, I'd like to second the ability to have an enter/exit message tied into this plugin. I know it can be handled through Worldguard, but if I have to create that using worldguard, it is just the same as creating the region for the protection. It is a great tie in to the town idea, and I personally want to extend it for something like factions.
If a donation would make or break it, please let me know. 5 dollars will get you a footlong during February!

It's alright. I do believe you, but like you, I also can't get it to replicate. I've seen it myself, just can't pin it down.
I don't automatically delete claims on a ban, because on many servers, bans are appealable. It wouldn't be fair for someone who was unfairly banned to finally get their ban appealed and then find that their build was wrecked and their stuff stolen.
@xBladeM6x
No, not possible to search for claims. Yes, you can turn off the automatic chest claim. Read the administrative manual (link above).

Posted Feb 26, 2012I couldn't get that bug to replicate when I tried it again, so don't waste much time trying to find it. (Though it did happen)
When someone gets banned does/could this remove their claims?

Posted Feb 26, 2012Random little thing I figured I'd throw in, but is it possible to check who has made protections, and where from anywhere in the world (as an admin)? And, is it possible to turn off auto-chest protecting when someone puts one down?

Ah, thanks for that tip, Zathrus. I didn't know it worked that way. With that in mind, I'll make some updates to the commands.

he wants to change the marker blocks, so instead of Glowstone appearing he wants to be able to change them to dirt blocks in the config

shortening commands really would help here :-)
also, if you want to prevent command conflicts, my advice would be to name your commands in line with the plugin name (like /gp_trapped) and use aliases for those commands (i.e. /trapped) ... that way, other plugins would override your /trapped alias if they have it listed as a regular command
... works great for the shortening part (/adjustclaimbonusblocks => /adjcb)

/trapped is available in 1.9, which I just now uploaded.
@Confuzzled77
There's also the breakage protection. So in a sense, the chest is still protected (just the chest itself, not its contents).
I originally had the visualizations disappear after a short time, but it was problematic when multiple visualizations started happening. I do occassionally get a question about the gold blocks, but it's not that often (even though I'm running a public server). Did you really think you'd found a gold block out in the wild, right beside your house? :)
That grass thing is super weird, I'll look into it. I'll also shorten the commands, but I won't use acronyms because it's too easy to accidentally conflict with another plugin.
@Sacredox
No, we don't have any specialty flags. GriefPrevention only fixes grief. You can use GP in combination with residence or worldguard if you want those other flags (but tell your players to use grief prevention primarily, because it's easier and more effective at blocking griefers).
No message for entering/exiting an area, with no plan to add.
@xBladeM6x
I don't know what you mean by customizing the claim blocks?

You can customize the depth of claims in the config and it says it will automatically will adjust the depth if they dig down below it.
I don't see anything about customizing what the blocks are though. But you aren't able to gather them anyway. It will just give you whatever the block originally is if you try to break it.
Also, I am testing it with Towny and LWC and WorldGuard on at the same time as it and see no problems really. It seems to override LWC on a claim. And it seems you are able to create claims with both Towny towns and plots as well as WorldGuard regions all overtop of each other. I am thinking this plugin would override those permissions as well.

Posted Feb 26, 2012How far down does the claim go? Meaning, in a square area, does it claim all the way to the bedrock, or is there a cutoff point in the y coordinate? Basically I'm referring to how Towny does it with it's claims. Not a big fan of it, but if it's the only way, I'm considering this plugin. I guess I'm also wondering if there's any customization with the actual claim blocks, in terms of what they are? For example making the glowstone in plots be dirt or something.
Thanks!

Posted Feb 26, 2012This plugin is looking very tempting. Nice work!
I just have a few questions in order of most important to least.
I think those might be the only reasons for me not to use this plugin right this second.

Posted Feb 25, 2012Hey bigscary, a couple things...
Requests:
Possible Bug: When you create a claim that is too small (the 10x10 requirement) and you continually right click inside the area, it adds tallgrass to the ground..random right?
Comments: Great plugin! Very simple to get used to. How would you compare this to WorldGuard? Think both on the same server could be used for both their claims capabilities?
Thanks.
