Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Dec 17, 2012Hello, bigscary.
Thank you for Grief Prevention. It's the best plugin out there. I have a question: what version of GP is used in your tekkit server? I'm using 5.5.1 since that supports tekkit's MC 1.2.5 version. I'm asking this because your recent versions add the tekkit items in the config file, and when I try to copy those items into 5.5.1 they disappear. I tried using the most recent version and gave me console error:
Hope to hear from you.

It looks like i'm going to have to remove GP even though its great. I just can't admin several thousand plots by hand. We need to be able to re-sell or reclaim subplots. Or at least abandon them

Posted Dec 16, 2012Idea for a a RN feature?
RN as many of you know works great. RNA works even better if used properly. However I've noticed that occasionally when deleting some random grief that the empty space seems to add up. Empty space of course being just plain grass or sand or stone blocks depending what you fill.
Would this idea be better as a plugin for Grief Prevention or perhaps a future feature? What I was thinking was just how the RN command fixes up land chunk by chunk, that possibly there'd be some sort of RN command that (if there's grass) pretty much applies the bonemeal effect on it as we as saplings to grow trees in place
Example being troll comes online, builds random dirt towers, cobble shaped penis structures, swastikas and leaves for a bit. Someone wielding the pretty stick comes along, RN's it so it's clear grass land, then uses the command which would be like...RNG (restore nature grass....or something) upon doing that tall grass would fill the area along with saplings of whatever tree is natural to that biome. Troll returns, see's grass and forestry where his grief was.

Posted Dec 16, 2012I am currently running a Tekkit server and am in the process of changing server hosts. I am currently with Beastnode and have a MySql through them with all my claims. I have transferred over everything but the mysql until my new host gets my database setup. I am trying to access the MySql database on my Beastnode Server, although the plugin is actually running on the new host. When I boot up the server I notice it hang for a long time (numerous minutes) right after saying "[Server] INFO Enabling GriefPrevention v5.5.1", and before showing how many claims are loaded. The server never actually comes up, it will just hang on Grief Prevention. This also seems to be crashing the Tekkit.jar i am using (craftbukkit)
I have confirmed this is Grief Prevention, when I delete the config file, or the jar, the server boots fine. This is the same version I have always run for my tekkit server no problem, and it doesn't do this when I'm loading the DB on the Beastnode server, only after copying the settings to another machine, although the mysql db is still active. I have included my Config and Server Log Below. I have removed my password for obvious reasons. Any help would be greatly appreiciated! Thanks!

Posted Dec 15, 2012We allowed claiming in a world which is now removed. On startup it says it's unable to load them obviously because the world doesn't exist any more. There's thousands of these, what's the best way to remove them?
Also got a concurrent error which caused our server to crash, not sure if it was GriefPrevention or not but it was the last thing in the console http://pastebin.com/kPM5JwYR

Smarter yes, but also busier. We have about 12 towns now with 12 managers and several thousand plots. It's becoming a bit of a problem.

Posted Dec 14, 2012I tried to get my server going with Towny and grief prevention at the same time, so basically grief prevention came into account only for nomads (in the wilderness). That is what I wanted but the two plugins didn't work together. If you were allowed to build with Towny in a town then you weren't allowed to build because of GP ( I have set it so you can only build in GP claims). Anyway is there any chance you could look into adding GP being overridden by Towny so that it does not work in towns. Just thought i'd ask, thanks.

Posted Dec 13, 2012Players aren't receiving their claim block bonus for me (v7.1), bukkit b2492.
/acb [griefprevention.bonus.5000] 5000 /acb [griefprevention.bonus.10000] 5000
And everyone with griefprevention.bonus.5000 and griefprevention.bonus.10000 does not get an extra 10,000 claimblocks... Ideas?

Posted Dec 13, 2012I need a way to block a player from receiving more claim blocks from being logged in. I have a user with a client that logs them back in and I think banning is a little harsh, I just want to cut off the extra blocks they're receiving for this.

/untrust will remove a player from the "managers" list of the claim.
No, I don't think I'll add that. I'm assuming administrators can keep track of their own claims, being smarter than the average player. :)
@Artemu
Not that I'm aware of. If you think about it, I think you'll agree that starting a whole new world is way worse than leaving some builds unprotected (basically, you'd be mega-griefing all builds). Try giving your players GP for a week or so before you remove WG. Players who still play and/or care what happens to their builds will claim them, others will be at risk but their owners probably don't care anyway.
@Pixiyo
Are you running GP in creative mode? Please check your config for the "creative rules worlds" list and get back to me.
@savetrev
You can run both on your server and they will both work. The only confusion you may have is where something is protected by BOTH a GP claim and a Lockette sign. In that case, the player must have permission from BOTH plugins to use the door/chest/etc.
@FordRacer2007
I think you might be obsessing over a small problem. :) Do you really have so many complaints from players about not being able to find their land claims? I almost never hear that complaint on my servers, especially since /claimslist was added.
About the anvils, many blocks can be launched with tnt cannons. There's no reasonable fix, really - on creative servers it's a minor annoyance, on survival servers it's a non-issue due to the expense of running a TNT cannon long enough to make a noticeable mess.
@wicked321
Thanks, if I see that issue in a beta or recommended build, I'll fix it.

I completely agree with you, this is exactly the reason why I request such feature. I like things to be automated and require less work on my and my Moderator's part. It isn't that I'm lazy, it's just that I have full time job, a family, and a house to maintain, so when I get on Minecraft, I like to be able to sit back and play, instead of dealing with Minecraft's weak points. I understand if this feature can't be added to GP, just thought it really fits in, at least as a configurable option. Anyway, Lucifer is working on such feature, maybe it can be a GP addon, we might use GP flags. Thanks for considering either way. Also, while I got ya reading this, Anvils can fly out of claims onto other claims using tnt canons.

Posted Dec 12, 2012LOVE Grief Prevention! Excellent job!!! :-)
Is there anyway to have Lockette override Grief Prevention?
It's still nice to have doors and chests locked in random places where you don't want to claim. Also it's nice to have iron doors open that are locked by Lockette (just a left click).

The animals from people are despawning if they make a protection on the ground where the animals are. They stay if they make one but when they log-out they de-spawn. Heard this from multiple people pls fix
