Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Ah, I see. I was a suggestion.
Also, I saw a comment recently about GP disallowing teleporting during combat. Is there a way to disable that?I found it. Thanks!

There's no help command built into the plugin. If your problem is that you have way too many slash commands such that /help is completely useless, consider installing a help plugin to make your /help more accessible. :)
@ekemsend
That's Grief Prevention standalone. It allows players to buy/sell claim blocks from their "claim block wallet" using server currency. It needs Vault and a Vault-compatible economy plugin to work. If you enable it, I recommend disabling automatic claim block accrual (blocks per hour) because players may sell those blocks and thereby unbalance your economy.
@Infuscu
Yes sir it is. You can disable it by setting the pvp timeout (in the config file) to 0. The downside is that players will be able to log out during pvp combat, stuff items into chests to keep them safe during combat, and so on. The teleportation rule you mention prevents players from using commands like /home to get out of trouble when they should man-up and fight it out.
@Repox82
Sorry, there's no option to delegate claim subdivision to the public. It wouldn't work out well anyway, because inevitably players would make unreasonably large subclaims, leaving nothing for others.
There's a "grief prevention real estate" extension plugin which allows for leasing subdivisions you've created in advance. :)
@briankdk
No sorry, if you're mixing creative and survival players in one world, I cannot save you from the grief which shall ensue. Either survival players will be unreasonably restricted, or creative players will grief your face off.
@zSwayz
There's no option to disable sign placement logging, sorry. Why do you want it - do you have another plugin which already logs sign placements?
@bioemerl
Slash commands are less simple than clicking with the golden shovel or building a chest.
I don't plan to add a limit on number of claims, because it's not needed for 99.999% of servers. But if you have a very special case, you have the option of customizing GP. See "repository" link above.

Yep, that's just about the only way you're going to do it. Other than getting the players themselves to claim the land. Or, you could put chests there yourself as an admin and give certain players /containertrust rights.

Posted Oct 24, 2012As simple as I can put it.
The ability for a player to claim a single square (subplot) of land as their own with a command. And a player can only claim one of said subplots.

Posted Oct 24, 2012Is it possible to combine the adminclaim and userclaims without trusting specific users?
I'd like to grief-prevent a large area (like a town), but allow players to place a chest/use goldshovel to claim a plot which they can now build in.
Currently, the only possibility I see is to adminclaim a large area and manually subdivideclaim areas and manually allow/trust people to build in that area.

Posted Oct 24, 2012Is it GriefPrevention that disallow people to teleport while in pvp combat? I am running a survival games plugin on the server, and when people 'die' they aren't teleported out of the arena, they're met with the message 'You can't teleport while fighting another player.' and thus stays in the arena even thought they're 'out'.
EDIT: I see it is indeed GP .. would you consider making an option to disable that functionality?

Yep, i gave each group that permission and suddenly it allowed them to use the commands. I'm just a bit confused why i didn't need it for 6.4, but oh well.

Okay, I will take a look at the dumping water buckets problem. :)
@Marenwynn
Thanks for clearing that up!
@mspaulding86
Sorry, I don't think there's anything I can do. :\ Since that plugin changes the game mechanics significantly, it's not surprising that I'm unable to control that kind of behavior, since Bukkit is designed to control "Vanilla" game behavior.
@sirmyllox
Yes, I think it will. But I'm not 100% certain, it's been a while since I worked on that area.
@mspaulding86
No, it's been requested once before. Try to think of it as rewarding players for playing on your server, so they get to spend the blocks however they want. I'm sorry if this doesn't meet your expectations, but it would be difficult for me to have two separate wallets for each player, and most servers don't run more than one game mode for their players.
@ray73864
I think it makes sense if they have it by default - but anyway did you try it? The configuration option you mention isn't related to that permission. The config option is related to the "griefprevention.createclaims" permission.
I added "griefprevention.claims" as a requirement for the basic claims slash commands because folks complained that when they had no way to take away those commands even when land claims were disabled. So I gave them the permission node so that admins on those servers can "disable" those unwanted slash commands. Now when players on those servers type /help, they don't see the claim-related commands which don't apply to them.
@Tr33x0rs
Will you also try that with buttons and levers and tell me if you have the same problem? Or is it JUST the timers?
Touchplates are always allowed by GP, even in land claims.
