Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

It's already done, and described on the administrative details page. Format is /trust [this.is.my.permission.node.name]. You do have to type the square brackets.
@ray73864
Hmm! Which multiworld plugin are you using? When you check your logs for your last reload or boot, does GP complain that it can't find that world?

Posted Sep 26, 2012Hi, awesome plugin! One question though. As an admin, I expect to be able to make changes on every area on my server. I don't have permissions to make changes in peoples claim. How can I do this?

I'll check into that. Only ender pearl teleportation should work when you're in combat.
@voodoo12334
Okay, I'll re-test the area and see what I can do.
@Tr33x0rs
You've got me stumped. There are quite a few plugins there I don't recognize, so I guess it could be any of them. Do you have a smaller test server where you can run JUST Tekkit and GP to see if you still have the problem?
@yaitsbilly
You don't want the latest version, it's not compatible with Minecraft 1.2.5, which is what Tekkit is running right now. You want GriefPrevention 5.5.1, and you will have to make sure your config file includes the list of Tekkit block IDs which are containers (like steam engines for example because they can hold coal, and the various "bronze", "iron" chests).

Did I miss a config somewhere? Or can I request a feature? I thought when a player was tagged for pvp they wouldn't be able to teleport out, simular to the way things are blocked during siege. No /home (commandBook is what does this on my server) or /spawn (multiverse handles this for my server). or /homeregion (handled by PopulationDensity)
Perhaps this would fall under 'grief prevention' pvp aspects? I greatly appreciate the anti pvp logging you have already implemented! If you feel this doesn't fall under your project I'll understand.

WorldGuard does it at a level of expense I'm not willing to take on. A custom data structure would improve performance, but I don't know that I'm willing to go to that length. The potential for bugs is high. I will keep it in mind, though. :)
Last time I checked (it's been a few versions), fire would not spread into a claim from outside. Has that changed?
@PsychoFad
So what the TerrainControl guy is telling you is that he decided to implement his own sea level even though he knew Bukkit didn't support it, creating the opportunity for you to have this problem. You can submit a feature request to Bukkit for a world.setSeaLevel(), but really the TerrainControl guy should do it, since he'd be the one using it.
I won't add that config option because the danger is that Mojang will change the sea level, which would make everyone who uses GP and doesn't immediately update their config variable to the new level have a major problem with /rn. :\ The only safe fix is to get Bukkit to add a setSeaLevel(), as TC guy suggested.
@jmx116
I already have the URL entry for bukkit up to date (I guess it's a plugin?). Switch to that, or give me more information.
@Jeanzl2000
Those new config defaults are correct for the latest Bukkit, which is compatible with 1.2.5. Unfortunately, you can't use the GP version that has the defaults with current Tekkit because that GP version was built for 1.3.1. So when Tekkit updates, everyone who starts using GP after that will get very good defaults.
@ryanwagner
No sir, very sorry. I suggest this:
1. Add GP, notify players they have two weeks to claim their builds.
2. After two weeks, remove other plugins.
Players who play regularly will claim, others will be vulnerable to grief. But most probably have quit playing altogether. So the only danger is someone who happens to be coincidentally on a two week vacation when you make the switch.
@Lyndon321
You want /acb.
@LeChuuck
If someone can destroy your blocks, they can destroy your chest, which would spill the contents on the ground. So they have access to your chests when they have access to build.
@Tr33x0rs
My only guess is that you have some other plugin which is causing a problem. Will you please send me a plugin list?
@chalemi
Use /subdivideclaims to create a subdivision around the area you want players to access, and give them permission only there. Or, if you don't want to mess with subdivisions, move those items to a separate claim.
@instinxx
That's a question for the DynMap guy, sorry. :\ I don't develop that extension plugin. I'd guess that would be a feature request that would require him to add something on his end to support your scenario.
@diannetea
See the "extensions" section above.
@JSmoove98
Because you have the "limit buckets" option turned on, which doesn't allow players to place water and lava outside of their claims unless it's underground. So when someone unclaims an area, the water and lava in that claim would now be outside of claims, so it will be cleaned up.
You can disable that limit buckets option, but you will take a performance hit. It server two purposes - first, it prevents griefers from dumping water and lava everywhere to make a big mess, and second, it saves CPU cycles because tracking water movement outside of claims is the MOST expensive part of GriefPrevention.
@xBladeM6x
No it isn't, maybe you can find another plugin which runs a command on login? :\
@Tobyz28
Idling isn't griefing. Try the PopulationDensity plugin. It doesn't warn, but does put players at the front of the login queue when they're booted for idling, so they can come right back in. :)
@scout1235
TNT is already enabled. It just doesn't explode blocks above sea level, to prevent griefers from turning your pretty wilderness into an ugly mess. You can disable this rule in the config file.
@ZeroAme
Yep, it's mentioned in the admin details page. Use /trust [permission.node] (yes, you must type the square brackets).
@diannetea
Sorry, it sounds like McMMO is giving your griefers a workaround to anti grief. :\ The only way I can see to fix it is to disable any special abilities that could be used to grief. In an ideal world I could fix this on my end, but you can imagine that there are endless ways another plugin developer could make my life difficult by changing the basic game rules, so I don't try to fix plugin-specific problems.

So I have mcMMO on my server, and I was trying to show my mom why this plugin was awesome by deopping and deranking myself and attacking some of her land and sheep, but mcMMO made the sheep bleed to death :(
Is there any way to disable the mcMMO attack abilities while in a protected area?

There's an option in the config.yml to enable the placing of water (and lava) on unclaimed land.
LimitSurfaceWaterBuckets: true
This setting will block players from placing water on unclaimed land. To enable this feature, set it to "false".
LimitSurfaceWaterBuckets: false
Then reload/restart your server. Et voila! :)
