Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Sorry sir, there's no support for a separate "wild west" kind of world. At least not where ALL rules are disabled. Some have asked for something like that, and the trouble is that you can imagine how complicated and difficult to understand the config file would become if I turned every true/false option into a list of worlds.
(your reply to Alchael)
It'd still be a lot of work, but it could be more cleanly done the other way around. Rather than make each option a list of worlds it applies to, add the option for explicitly setting a specific world differently.
I don't recall what Alchael wanted to configure, but I'll give an example involving the claimblocks settings: (forgive any inconsistency, I'm doing most of this from memory of what the config file looks like)
Let's suppose I have a server that has 3 worlds: Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. For all worlds, I want a 100 initial blocks (still the default?), and for Alpha and Beta, I want the default accrual settings (100, 80000). But for Gamma, I want I much faster accrual and maximum claimblocks. So my config file might look like:
There are a few plugins (sadly, I can't remember which at the moment) that have that sort of configuration approach. With this approach, something like
would become
(or false) in a specific world's section.
The big problem I see with it is that it'd require a fair amount of rewriting and retesting to make it work without breaking existing configuration files, etc. And that may mean the return isn't worth the amount of work it involves. :/

Posted Aug 14, 2012So I've been using the flatfiles for ages, and I would like to switch to mySQL, I haven't seen the config option before, I guess it's new.
Is there somewhere a script to turn old flat files to mySQL?

I turned off every plugin but Vault and GP and it still came up over and over. I am also playing with things to try to figure it out.
EDIT**
I tried the very latest Bukkit, I also tried 2311. I tried them both with only Vault and GP. The error still occurred. Vault 1.2.17 and GP 6.0.
7:44pm I tested it on my hamachi server. Same settings, just a different world. Only GP and Vault. GP worked fine, no errors. The only difference I can think of is my BukkitGUI. But I also turned that off in the tests.
2:06pm I did't find out the exact issue, or fix the problem. But I did figure out now, that my world folder is corrupt some how. I even went on my test server and deleted each file in the world folder one by one. It did not fix the issue. As soon as I loaded my test world though, it fixed it.

If you're seeing a very similar issue with another plugin (Heroes?), then it will be very difficult (maybe impossible) for me to reproduce and investigate the issue on my end because your problem is most likely due to another plugin not behaving well. I know it's a very tedious and frustrating process, but probably your best course of action is to disable other plugins one at a time until you see the problem go away. :\
If you do discover which of your other plugins is to blame, please tell me so that I can help others who encounter this issue in the future.

I will go back in versions to the recommended build of Craftbukkit, and update to GP 6.0.
I am getting basically the same error with Heroes.
I will let you know how it goes. Thank you for your assistance.
EDIT**
I started my server with recommended Craftbukkit and 6.0 GP, and I took out heroes. I also turned on firespread in GP. I did not try taking out magicspells yet. This came up. http://pastebin.com/qKQjpxNv

Very close, the first line is last login (not logout).
Note that changing these (player data) files while the server is running won't generally work. You can change the bonus blocks with /acb. For the others, if you really feel you need to change them, then stop the server first. The list of claims, if updated, will not actually have any impact on the server. It's only for reference purposes (it used to be used, but now it's not).
@lambik
Yes, they can subdivide their claims. For example, put the one chest off to the side somewhere, then put a subdivision around the remaining chests. While standing inside the subdivision, use /containertrust for each friend. The friends will be able to open containers inside only that subdivision of the claim, and not the rest of the claim.
It can also be done with a separate claim instead of a subdivision - it's easier to do, but not as good a solution overall.
@barry123best
I haven't heard this before. Let me look into it.
@kaitoshijo
I haven't seen this myself. First, update to a recommended build. If that doesn't clear it, then see if maybe disabling MagicSpells or another fire-related plugin has any impact. If still no help, please tell me - have you enabled fire spread or fire destruction in GP's config? I will try to reproduce the problem on my end.
@HexaDroid
Only if you are an admin. See admin details page for the specific steps. Basically, you need to create an admin claim first, then use /transferclaim.
@bigboy2013
The dispenser needs to be in a claim, and not facing out into an unclaimed area or another player's claim. This is to prevent inserting water, lava, and animals (mostly creative mode for that last) into the wilderness or another player's claim using a dispenser.
I can tweak this a little for you to allow the dispenser itself to be in the wilderness. I will try to remember for the next version.
@Tobyz28
Isn't that what it does now?
@jtaker6619
You probably mixed your versions. If you're on Minecraft 1.2.5 and try to use a GriefPrevention which was made for 1.3.1, you'll probably see this kind of error (and vice versa). Be sure you're downloading a GP version which is compatible with the version of Minecraft you're running on your server. If you're running Tekkit, you are probably on 1.2.5.
@RegalCreed
Is the message something like "You have to claim alnd before you can build"? If so, this is how it's supposed to work for creative servers. If your world is a survival world, then go to your config file and make sure none of your survival worlds are listed under "creative rules worlds".

Posted Aug 13, 2012Well recently after getting this plugin, dispensers appear to not work. When you try to use them empty, they make the loud "click" they should make. However once items are added, they don't make the loud "click" sound, and refuse to shoot ANY item from inside the dispenser. Is this plugin preventing dispensers shooting items, and if so, is there a way to disable this?

The plugin list is there ^. The error only occurs with 5.8 and above. I just put in 6.0. The errors start showing up as soon as my server starts.
I am on bukkit 2327 Dev. The server is hosted from a pc. 7gb RAM.

Posted Aug 12, 2012Hi, first off I got to say I feel guilty for posting such a stupid question but some of my players are asking if this is possible: they were used to have residence and have single chests protected separately and now they want to know if this is possible also with GP. Like if they can create a claim and share all but one chest with friends. Because they want to have diamonds only for themselves for example. Or if they build a mcdonalds and want to have personnel chests, but director would have his own chest in this claim because thats the way it works in real life. Thanks for any answers.

Not anywhere near as well as bigscary can, but I'll give it a go! :) (correct me if I'm wrong bigscary)...
Line1: time of last login/logout
Line2: total number of accrued claim blocks
Line3: total number of awarded BONUS claim blocks
Line4: claims this player has made

Yes, if I can hook into the WE API, maybe I can work support for claim selection with the WE wand as well. Also, to keep from spamming this page, I've sent some PMs addressing some potential problems. Thanks!
