Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Aug 5, 2012Just want to say that I too am getting pressure from users. :( But I refuse to allow little ^%#&^$^ to grief my heavily protected server. I have little kids (aged 11 - 15) who have already upgraded asking 3 times a day "when are you upgrading" via email. They aren't geeky enough to roll back, so I tell them that they need to wait.
I love your mod (but the gold shovel hates me - admin claims are sometimes impossible to get right) and am looking forward to the update, when it finally gets here. :D

Posted Aug 5, 2012Hello,
First off....I LOVE THIS PLUGIN!!!!
I use it on my Tekkit server and it is great! I have one issue tho. I have smart moving available on my server and members have found out they can enter peoples locked doors by crawling/sneaking through them using the smart moving feature. On a vanilla bukkit server this would be fine but i have been too lazy to add the custom block ids to lock the condenser chests and other machines that are a part of the Tekkit collection. So far no one has been griefed by this but that may be because my son is the one who showed me the flaw and I dont think he has told anyone but his brothers (family server with family friends) but this could be a serious breach for a larger server that may support smart moving while using your plugin.
Also, if there are any others that use this with Tekkit and have not been so lazy about adding the IDs to the access trust and container trust lists, I would love to see a copy of your config! :)

I disagree about not also adding in jail or custom command for punishment. Kicking is very weak in that most won't even read what was said. Ban is too strong because there is no warning if the player is too noob to notice the text warning them to stop. I would rather be able to mute/jail as a warning rather than perm ban. perm ban turned on on my server almost always results in our most common users getting banned from accidentally using caps lock.

I believe they've fixed the Chat API in build 2291.

I told you. The Damage Value. The wool was simply an example.

Bukkit build 2284 introduced a breaking change to the Chat API. If you want to keep using the current build of GP (and MANY other plugins) stick with build 2283 until plugins update.

Posted Aug 4, 2012It might be an issue because of the 1.3 update, but when I attempted to add a new map, GP doesn't seem to be working on it. The commands and everything work fine, but the golden shovel doesn't create new claims, and placing a chest doesn't give me a claim either. I can't use Restore Nature or anything like that either.

Sorry let me clarify - I'm not asking about wool. I'm asking which field the mods use to distinguish one custom block type from another.

Configured Slash Commands. If you could extend it to items as well that would be awesome.
Just something like
PvPBlockedCommands - home - tpa - tpaccept
PVPBlockedItems - <ID For Bread> (Don't know it off the top of my head) - etc.
Well at the very least Fence Gates need a true/false configuration because many people use them for Farms and a griefer being able to come by and open the gates to let the animals out will be a pretty big deal since it's about the ONLY issue I have with your plugin.
It's the damage values. "These values specify the color of the wool. This data is stored in block metadata for placed wool, and as the "damage" for wool in the inventory."

I don't understand what you're saying there, but since you put a winky face at the end, I'll assume for now that you like the current code. :)
@Sinistralis777
Thanks, I need more confident info. :) Is it the data value or the damage value?
Do you want all slash commands disabled, or would you need a list of specific commands you can configure?
@DrFusion
No, there are bukkit bugs which make it impossible for me to enforce anti grief. I will release an update when bukkit gets a beta build out.
@spacedestroy
No, jail isn't a fix for grief. If a player is so awful that he can't be allowed to walk around the server, you should jsut ban him. If you jail him, he's going to verbally abuse everybody in the chat until somebody does come along to ban him. If the problem is that you don't trust your moderators to ban only people who deserve it, you need new moderators, not a jail. :)
@Sinistralis777
Maybe I'll do that, I dunno. It used to be that you couldn't lock anything but iron doors (due to buttons and levers needing permission).
To All:
I will release when I get a beta build, which I assume won't have major bugs.

@BigScary has stated many times he will not release a Dev version and the next release will only be for the BETA or RB of 1.3 not before. He also recommended you don't run Dev versions on live servers as there are too many bukkit bugs that can bypass any anti-grief i.e. bucket placing of lava!

Posted Aug 4, 2012Also, you need to allow us to lock only certain doors rather than all. I want Wooden Doors to remain unlocked but trapdoors and fences to be locked. (Trapdoors are commonly used for decoration and a griefer could let animals loose by opening the fence gate.)

Posted Aug 4, 2012first thanks for the plugin.
can you make that this plugin send to jail at the griefers (when they repeat the action of open or break) and can you make it for this plugin http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/jail/ ?
or if another, which one?
thanks!
