Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Jul 20, 2012src/me/ryanhamshire/GriefPrevention/PlayerEventHandler.java Chat handler, priority needs to be a bit higher (Lowest is executed first... you're not letting other dev's do what they need to) and you should be cancelling your spam check especially if the chat event is cancelled by another plugin...?
Jus' sayin.

Sorry Arko, I'm still waiting for somebody to build an extension plugin for claim flags. Since turning off pvp in an area isn't an anti grief thing (we already have spawn camp protection), it's not in this base plugin. But hopefully, someone will build an extension for that soon. :)
@TJW28
Thanks TJ for the help! Bobo, he's exactly right.

From the Info documented.
Claims.CreationRequiresPermission: false
By default, all players may create claims with the shovel. If you set this to true, then only players with the griefprevention.createclaims permission may do so.
Hope that helps.

Posted Jul 20, 2012Hey, I've been using this plugin, and it's pretty great, but I just tried enabling the permission-based claims, and I can't find the permissions node for that. Could you help me out?
- griefprevention.claims.*
That's what I tried, and it didn't work in the least.

You can use /claimslist. After the patch, the vanilla /tp command will take coordinates, which will help. Until then, you may need a separate teleportation plugin to easily hop around to various land claims.
@Esaych
I don't think the database option alone will solve your problem. But yeah, not having a massive claim certainly will. I still don't know the root issue, but I'm still working on it.
If you want a freebuild area for only specific players, I think your original plan with a large claim and /trust [permission] is best. For the short term, maybe if you make that claim out of 4 or 9 smaller claims, that will work? At least until I find and fix the bug.
There's no way to make certain players able to claim in a specific area but not others. The only option to restrict claim creation is to make some players able to create claims (anywhere) and others not able to (anywhere).
I will fix this issue. I just have to find it first.
@crazyivandefrag
Ah, sorry Ivan. I haven't updated the documentation yet. You need a database URL. You can find an example in the changelogs, I think for version 5.2.
@jamzam90
This will work in general, but not for a huge claim. A huge claim will cause a crash, whether it's an admin claim or not. Thanks very much for trying to help! :)
@Shakale
You can look up the proper syntax for a .yml file on the internet. But it looks like this:
[12, 13, 14, 15, 16]
@netherfoam
True now that you mention it, I probably chose the wrong name for that method. Too late to change it now. :\
@ryanwagner
In the extensions section above, there's a link to a real estate extension plugin. Your feature request would be a good one to submit over there. :)

This falls under "real estate" functionality
Such functionality can be implementd with an extension plugin
bigscary has spoken against adding such functionality to the GP core

Posted Jul 19, 2012I was wondering if it would be possible to add a maintenance cost to the land. This way players who don't pay the maintenance fee lose their land. Similar to an upkeep cost to towny.
I would however, encourage that instead of them losing the land they own immediately that they lose the permission to interact with the land and are required to pay the maintenance fee first.
Then after a configurable number of days the land is totally lost and turns back into the wild.

Posted Jul 19, 2012Trying to hook into this with my plugin, how can I find if a player is allowed to use a chest? i have the Claim plot, but i'm not sure how I can get the trusted player list or check if someones trusted?
Edit: Nevermind O_O allowContainers(player) sounds like it would add them to the allowed list :S I was wrong.

Posted Jul 19, 2012I love this plugin but I was wondering if you could maybe add a few commands in that would let me list all the current claims...like by owner name...and possibly warp or tp to their claim. I dont know if this is possible but the most important one would be the list so I can delete the claim without having to search the entire area with string. Thanks for the best antigrief plugin Ive came across.

Posted Jul 19, 2012Well guys!! I never thought this would happen, but amazingly, everything on my todo list is DONE. Even the "well I might get to that feature one day, but not right now..." stuff is done. I will continue to take feature requests and fix bugs, but I just wanted to make this announcement in celebration. :) Woohoo!!
Also, I will be once again updating the documentation. I hope to make it easier to navigate.
@ViralPhame
Yeah, turn off the anti spawn camp feature. See administrative details.
@ryvix
Man, I have no idea how to do that. I don't want to explicitly plug into anybody else's plugins, that's a slippery slope. Let me think on it, maybe I'll come up with something.
Sure, I can add a quick feature where when someone who has permission to resize the claim uses the info tool, they get additional information. Admins might find it handy, too.
@Amethystx87
He has a unique situation because he's the only user I'm aware of who creates MASSIVE claims. I'm still brainstorming possible causes for his problem. :) Thanks for trying to help!
@Esaych
I responded by asking for more info. :P Anyway it looks like there's no more info to be had, so I'll continue with my guessing. Thanks again for being so patient, I'm sorry you're having problems.
@ryvix
Yes, WTF indeed. :)
