Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

All that is already doable. Read the admin details page. Disable chest claim = -1 for new player claim radius. Anyone with /deleteclaim permission can also resize another player's claim by using the shovel.
@EtherealHC
You can enclose a permission group in brackets. Like
/trust [myserver.citizens]
Or for everyone on the server to access containers in your claim but not build:
/containertrust public
If you have many containres in your claim and only want to give public access to one, you need to /subdivideclaims. Watch the video link you get when you use the command.
@Esaych
Yes, that's the creative mode ruleset. List your world under creative rules worlds i the config. Do NOT use this for survival worlds, the additional rules will ruin the survival experience.
@Stylez84
No, this plugin has nothing to do with monster spawning, unless you have the creative mode turned on, which I'm assuming you don't for a monster spawner. ANyway even if it were on, it wouldn't be checking who's around to decide whether or not to spawn. Must be something else.
@junebugjump
I'm sure you will be very glad to make the change. I run this plugin on my own public server, and even though I'm all by myself, I almost never have to deal with any grief (and when I do, /restorenature wipes it out SO fast).
@jamzam90
Don't know, not trying to support mods.
@mtjaxter
This shouldn't work. Dropping items doesn't make you newly invincible, only respawning or joining the server. Can you tell me more about how they're accomplishing this? Anyway, there's a config option to stop protecting freshly spawned players.
@re4397
I need more info than that. And it's probably user error - check their claim to make sure the chest is inside the claim, and also check their /trustlist to see if they've trusted other players.
@AuntieBeast
Since the top level claim owner (landlord) always has the option to delete or resize the subdivision, there's no way to prevent him/her from accessing whatever is there. I don't know that I want to do anything to change this - even if I did, you'd have the opposite problem - "So I let this guy build in one of my subdivisions, and he built a giant penis out of chests, and now I can't get rid of it." That's the extreme case, but you get the idea. We'd basically be taking the land owner's permissions away for his own land.

Posted Jul 8, 2012Hey Big, We meet again. :)
One issue is being able to protect a chest in a subclaim. Example. I am the master claim owner, I subdivide a property to you, I still retain all rights to that land (rightly so) but the subdomain person has no way to protect their chests from me, without an additional plugin.
I do encourage my users to know who they are getting land from, but it still comes up.

Posted Jul 8, 2012Hey, is there a way to turn off the PVP protection? As in, not being hit when holding nothing. I have had people abuse this, by going around fighting people and then dropping whatever they were holding and not being able to be hit.
THAT and I am making a custom RP/G server and I want that feature to not be in. But I absolutely love GP plugin! :)

Hm, I don't see how it would be too confusing, its like double clicking to launch the internet browser on a computer...but since you're the dev, how bout something like left click to preview /outline what chunk will be affected and right click to actually restore. This way you can choose to just rn normally and make previewing totally optional.

Posted Jul 7, 2012I am wiping a tear of gratitude from my eye. This looks fantastic, I'm going to have my server owner take a look at this... It would be so nice to not log grief reports... we're currently using WorldGuard, LWC, Protection Stones... Those poor mods deal with griefers nearly 100% of their time and it's sad for the players who build.
Going to finish watching the videos and reading the FAQs. I will donate once I'm able to download.

Posted Jul 7, 2012Does this plugin prevent a player from activating mob spawners on other people's claims? We have an admin claim with a community mob spawner but it will only spawn mobs when admins are around - mobs won't spawn for normal players. Mobs will spawn normally in the dark but the actual mob spawners don't seem to work.

Posted Jul 7, 2012I'm not sure if it's been requested already, but it would be really nice to be able to setup trust/ct/at with "all" or group titles such as "Builders" for permissions groups, instead of having to individually add everyone for access to a public area that, for example, they should be able to access an enchanting table but not destroy anything.

Posted Jul 6, 2012Hello bigscary, I've been using your plugin for quite some time and LOVE IT. But, I was wondering if there is a way to toggle the ussage of chest making reagions and if there is no way to toggle it, can it please be added? It would be real nice. Also, if this could be added. An Admin overide, for when a OP or someone with the perm wants to edit/resize/delete a region, the could. Thats annother really usefull addition that could be added. Thanks for reading bigscary! Please reply!

Thanks J, I'll look into those issues. I really don't want to do the RN thing. Right now, it's "right click what you don't like", and this would make it "right click to target, read message, right click again like the message says to actually restore the area". Also, for /rna, the exact block you click on can be important, so having someone click twice may be problematic. Maybe you can suggest a way to smooth out the experience?

Use a stick. Or change it back to string in your config file. But in 1.3, string will be a problem.
@zombiejill
Seriously? He's really upset? They literally grow it back without an effort on his part, all they need is grass nearby, which itself grows back. Just tell him to close off his claim.
@anton8604
This plugin will work very well in PvP. Factions has a problem where if you don't want to PvP, you can just hide in your fort. I think it's ridiculous to call a server PvP, then let players sit out the action whenever they're not armed to the teeth. Kind of takes the sense of danger out of the whole thing. GriefPrevention has a "siege mode" which makes it impossible to just ignore your enemies, but at the same time, protects you from grief. Check it out (see video above). So, it can replace factions as your PvP plugin, but it does work in a different way (players still get blocks for playing, and never lose them).
