Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Jun 14, 2012What if i have 2 worlds and i only want to reset 1?
I have to search through the whole folder and delete only the files from that specific world? That could take a long time on bigger servers with lots of claims...

Posted Jun 14, 2012Hey all, please vote in the survey above! I'm looking for a replacement for the string tool. It should be really easy to get, but not placeable (right click doesn't make it go away in most cases). It should also be in the creative menu, for creative players to have easy access (I don't think the stick is in that menu, is it?)
Also, some bad news about groups support. I was assuming that Vault had groups, but it doesn't. The only thing I can do for groups now is something like:
/trust [coolserver.playergroups.citizens]
Which as you can see is very awkward and clunky because playres would have to use fully-qualified permissions identifiers. Instead of doign this, I've asked the Vault guy (Sleaker) to please add a minimal level of groups support. If he adds it, then I will add groups support to GriefPrevention. If you'd like to help me prove that people want this, please consider commenting on my ticket to show your support. Thanks!
http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/vault/
@Galzek
You can't transfer a subdivision. But you can use a combination of /trust and /permissiontrust to give a player full build rights and also the ability to give other people build rights to his subdivision. He just wouldn't be able to delete the subdivision or resize it. :)
@limdingwen
There's no automatic way to do this. I suggest going into creative mode and marking the corners of those claims with something obvious like netherack, then delete all the claims, and finally create your city claim and subdivide it manually. You can give a player near-complete ownership of his subdivision by using both /trust and /permissiontrust. He just won't be able to delete it or resize it. I know this isn't very convenient for you, but I hope you understand that your scenario is pretty rare, so it doesn't make sense for me to "bend over backward" to try and automate it.
Only the owner of a claim can subdivide it. You can imagine where it would be a problem if a player who doesn't own a claim could go in and start creating subdivisions in it. I suggest putting an admin claim on the spawn town and subdividing for the houses that are alrady there. When you give someone /trust in a subdivision, they can't edit outside of that subdivision, so your signs would be protected.
Your players are lazy bums. :) Is there another plugin you were using previously which somehow made claiming underground easy? If so, maybe I can do whatever that plugin is doing. If not, then I suggest this - create the claim ont he surface, then climb down and place a block at the bottom of the underground build. The claim will automatically extend down into the ground.
I hope this plugin is doing great things for your server! :)
@snowy007
If you regenerate your world, delete the claims data folder but NOT the player data folder (then /reload). This will delete all the claims, but allow your players to keep all the claim blocks they've earned through play time.

Posted Jun 14, 2012Question, what if i delete one of my worlds and let it regenerate?
Will all claims on the world be deleted and will players get their claim blocks back?
Or will the claims remain on the same coördinates but on the newly generated world?
If claims remain... is there some command to delete all claims on a world?

Lol, sorry for so many questions, I am currently trialing this plugin on my server. Just a few questions though.
- Currently I am trying to claim the spawn city but because players had already started claiming I want to make the claims subdivisions inside my city claim. Don't know if this is possible, but it would be great if you can do so! Currently my spawn city's roads are open to griefing. Is there a way to edit the data to make them subdivisions?
- Also, I like how my players can claim freely in the spawn town. I don't think I would like to use the subdivision system on the spawn town, is there a way to let them claim subdivisions easily in the home? Is there a risk to this? Or do I have to resort to LogBlock or being "too bossy" on my town? I certainly do not want my navigation signs to be griefed.
- Is there any way to make underground claiming easier, my players do not like going up and down just to claim and says that it is very annoying and is one of the main reasons they requested me to remove this plugin.
Thank you!

Ah okay. While you will definitely get multiple questions on the same thing, it is certainly easier for those of us who do check to go through a list of tickets, than through hundreds of comments seeing if you already answered a question, and if you answered a question, where that answer is. Also I think many people are already familiar with DBO's ticket system since many other plugins use it as well.
As for fire spread, I have solved that by disabling GP from preventing fire spread at all. Thanks!

Posted Jun 13, 2012I created a big admin claim for a city at the spawn point. I wanted to give some players plots in the admin claim so they could build their own houses/shops etc. So I used subdivideclaims to do this. It highlighted them in silver like it should. Then I tried standing in the new subdivided claim and doing /transferclaim PLAYERNAME to give it to them. But it says I can only do that on admin claims. How do I go about giving the subdivided admin claim to someone?

Posted Jun 13, 2012Hey all, I know you all have your own servers to run, I'm not trying to "steal" you for mine. But I want to tell you all that the test server has become sort of accidentally a very successful server in general. For proof, you can watch the quick vid below to see all the great stuff everyone has built.
I run the server all by myself by spending about 20 minutes per day just talking to players and sometimes using /RN, and I only run a few plugins: grief prevention, population density, no cheat plus (i have a few others which i think are non essential).
Maybe consider a similar recipe for your own server. :) I think you'll be surprised how well it works with so few admins and so few plugins.

@cuddyier
Please post the specific messages they're sending that get muted, along with the messages they sent before that, so I can determine what the problem is.
@iMine101
The tree thing takes two minutes. You have to be patient if you want to actually see it work.
You have to use /ignoreclaims. Read the docs.
For spam, please give me the specific details of what messages were sent in what order so I can investigate.
I won't add undo. Can you describe what happened for me? Maybe I can make it so that it's "safer" so you won't have that problem again.
Get a better help plugin. :)

Posted Jun 13, 2012By the way, I hope to get recent promised tweaks as well as groups support in this weekend. In the meantime, I'd appreciate any feedback you all can give on my anti-x-ray idea. :) http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/anti-x-ray/
@MalandrixBunny
Sorry bunny, there isn't. That's intentional because I want everyone to be able to simply view the video and get all the info they need. Making the tool customizable will complicate the situation. Is there a specific reason you want to change the tool on your server?
@limdingwen
No,the automatic chest claims are only placed when the chest is built. There's no way to determine who placed chests that were placed before the plugin was installed, so claims aren't retroactively created.
@DanJames
Okay, I'll add an option to disable that restriction. Also the rule for tree planting in the sky. The two of you have successfully peer pressured me. :)
@cuddyier
For the first, there's only /reload. For the second, see previous reply.

Posted Jun 13, 2012@bigscary "So the reason this isn't possible is because with only an iron bucket, a griefer can make an immense mess in the wilderness by dumping buckets of water on hillsides and on top of trees. It's true that this doesn't hurt specific players because their builds are protected, but you'll spend a lot of time cleaning it up, and in the meantime, the mess will give new players the impression that the server isn't well-managed (causing them to leave)."
Hey, I understand the idea behind that, however the players on my server that are not interested in protecting their property just want to be able to place water without making it a protected area.
Would it be possible to add an option to disable the water block. The way I usually run a server is by not forcing any player into something they don't want to be part of. If they do not want to protect their land, they don't have to, and they shouldn't be restricted by making that choice.
We have Admins on a lot who are willing, capable and able to clean up any water.
Thank you for your reply, -Semajnad

Posted Jun 12, 2012Hey guys as this plugin's to-do list is getting short, I'm picking up a third project. Please post comments over there if you're interested in my cheap but effective, fully-automatic anti-x-ray solution.
http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/anti-x-ray/
@DanJames
So the reason this isn't possible is because with only an iron bucket, a griefer can make an immense mess in the wilderness by dumping buckets of water on hillsides and on top of trees. @vein_mx
I don't use tickets because they're a pain for users to learn. Besides, few take the time to look at existing tickets, so I get the same suggestions over and over and over again with or without the ticket system.
I will do that for buckets only because without claims there's no way to place water/lava at all, but not for fire. Allowing fire to spread in the wilderness is asking for trouble, especially in a world where there are no claims to protect any builds from that fire.

Also, can we have it such that if claims are turned off in the world, GP also disables its fire prevention, lava placing limits and all that for that world as well?

Posted Jun 12, 2012Something I'd like to see on this plugin is the ability to allow players to place water in unprotected zones.
If possible, it would be nice to blacklist the items yourself that you don't want placed outside a player owned zone, but just water would be nice for now.
In short, I don't want my players to HAVE TO protect their zones to build, I want the protection to only protect players homes who need it. EDIT: If anyone knows if enabling water outside protection is possible, please reply or email at semajnad@mycraftserver.co.uk as it would be SOOO much help :) -Semajnad
