Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Equipping the golden shovel will display a message with unused blocks. There's no way to see how many total blocks you have.

Putting out fires is a known issue. I've been struggling with it since the first release. The problem seems to be that fire isn't a block. Despite many requests for help posted on the bukkit forums, I still don't have a solution.
Yes, fire can be placed everywhere now. It doesn't spread or destroy blocks, though. I put it back in because players like to use it sometimes to fight monsters and for PvP. Note that when PvP is off, no one can place it within 3 blocks of another player.
Sorry to hear about the accidental griefing. :) For these very rare cases, I think it's reasonable for an admin like yourself to remedy the situation by going into creative mode and making some adjustments. Bukkit has some major limitations related to portal creation that make it impossible for me to full stop this kind of thing without totally changing the player experience.

/ignoreclaims or /ic
@panickingpastry
Seems very strange to me. I'll look into it today.
@KovuTheHusky
It's on the to-do list for the next version.
@Phonix420
Laughing out loud at the spawn city thing. Like you, I'm very glad to hear that you were the first to notice. I'll add a message that says something like "If you're sure, use /AbandonTopLevelClaim".
On my server, I additionally have a ConsoleScheduler plugin just to remind players every hour to claim their land and watch the "grief prevention basics" youtube video. It seems to help, but I get questions, too. In a recent version, I added a similar instruction to the golden shovel equip action.

Are you sure the world name is buildersarea? Because it might just be aliased using multiverse. Try using the folder name, then if that doesnt work find the REAL world name and use that.

Posted Apr 4, 2012Couple weeks in here and still heavily impressed with this plugin. I'm not experiencing the kinks that others seem to be (maybe cuz I took the time to learn it and test it).
Our biggest struggle so far is user error. Users just cannot grasp the idea of claiming 2 opposite corners to make a square lol. My whole world is covered in 3x3 claims everywhere. But like I said this is user error.
I had one major screw up though, that seems to be happening a little more often now that users are figuring out how to build towns. They are doing the /abandonclaim command while accidentally standing outside of subplots, thus abandoning the entire city. It would be nice for players to have to confirm this command, and maybe a message from console saying "You are abandoning a claim made of xxx blocks, are you sure you want to continue? Type /abandonclaimconfirm" or maybe "Are you sure you want to delete this claim? There are subclaims here as well"
I gave one of my admins complete control over the spawn city last night and he unknowingly abandoned the whole city. The server went about 24 hours before anyone noticed, and it was me (thank god) so I fixed it lol. Kinda funny, if there's a 4x4 shack way out in the wild, griefers will find it every time, but they missed the epic city they were standing in, do i ever feel lucky lol.

Posted Apr 4, 2012I was looking for a simple to use region/claim plugin like this for quite awhile. Love the dynmap plugin.
The only request I have is for a configuration key-value for turning fire spread on/off. I play on a small family and friends server and I'd love to enable fire spread.
I'm on the same page as the guy that uses CreeperHeal that left a comment recently. There are other plugins that have similar functionality that may be better suited for certain communities.
Thanks for your work on the plugin!

Posted Apr 3, 2012is there a change in the use of the permissions?
i don´t use permission plugin at the moment. with older version eg 3.0 i could make changes as an OP. with the new version i can´t change anything within a claim of other users without permissiontrusts set by a user.
btw: great job with the plugin

Posted Apr 3, 2012One of my players just did it by accident. Purely accidental. They used a portal in a subdivision owned by Paige of a plot owned by HogwartiaAdmin, then he went to the nether, mined some netherrack, built a new portal, and came back, creating a portal on the surface about 200 blocks away also in the claim owned by HogwartiaAdmin, in an are unsubdivided.
Another bug report:
SpunkYox was able to put out fire in a subdivision of HogwartiaAdmin’s plot that she had no /trust to.

It's extremely difficult to make a portal appear where you want it by building one in the nether. Even Vanilla frustrates players to no end because it seems to them that every nether portal they make links to the first portal made in the normal world. Yes, somebody who did a whole lot of math and research AND waited for the right opportunity could do this. But after all that effort, the player who owns the "griefed" claim would just wall in the portal and that would be that.
Now using a portal to teleport out of a besieged claim - that I will try to fix.

Suggestion for new feature:
PORTAL GRIEFERS. Splattering the world with random portals since 1885.
Perhaps add in a feature to route portals to closest already-made portal, rather than creating a new overworld portal when leaving the nether.

I'm probably adding this option tonight. How are you using lava to clear a forest? Even lava shouldn't actually destroy any blocks. Anyway I'll add this option.
EDIT: Okay, not tonight. I'm just going to wait for the new RB to come out tomorrow, and release a matched version for that.
@DrFusion
Nope, see the "to don't" list above.
@Jadedwolfs
Not scoffing, just not supporting. You're allowed to do whatever you want with your server, and I'm allowed to limit the number of hours I spend daily working on this,right?
