Extra Hard Mode
Extra Hard Mode changes the game rules to create NEW, INTERESTING CHALLENGES for players who have mastered the core game. Unlike Mojang's "hard" mode or other plugins' "hardcore" modes which just punish you more for making mistakes without actually changing game mechanics, Extra Hard Mode delivers interesting new challenges for advanced players.

Recommended Plugins
- Make tree logs and branches fall when chopped with GraviTree. Set "FallingLogsDamagePlayers" to true in its config for an extra challenge!
- For anti-grief, avoid plugins that disable explosions entirely, because that will undermine the cave-in mechanic and the new improved TNT.
- Avoid plugins which allow players to teleport themselves out of danger when they're in combat or lost. Especially avoid plugins which add commands like /home, /back, and /tpa, since they will undermine the difficulty VERY much. Consider instead a teleportation plugin like Population Density, which allows players to teleport only between teleportation posts it places on the surface every 400 blocks.
- You might want to look into balancing villagers. Having diamond gear tradable for very easily farmable materials will undermine the difficulty. I use Rebalance Villagers to make the trades harder.
Metrics
This plugin utilizes Hidendra's plugin metrics system, which means that the following information is collected and sent to mcstats.org:
- A unique identifier
- The server's version of Java
- Whether the server is in offline or online mode
- The plugin's version
- The server's version
- The OS version/name and architecture
- The core count for the CPU
- The number of players online
- The Metrics version
- Config options that are activated, allowing me to see what people use (or don't)
You can disable the stat collection via /plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml if you wish. If you want to see the stats, you can go here

Posted Dec 18, 2012I have a few feature requests:
1. Make farm animals aggro when attacked. This way your cooked pork fights back a bit. They should be easier to kill than regular mobs but still the chance of taking damage should be there.
2. Reduce the animal "love". Perhaps make it a low chance that feeding an animal will put it into breeding mode.

Posted Dec 17, 2012Hi I've been looking for a problem where a plugin is causing hostile mobs to spawn at very low rates during night time. It seems that EHM is causing the problem. I found this out by removing plugins until mobs began spawning normally again. I don't know if there is a config option I have enabled that is causing this or what. I really like this plugin and since it is a Survival server it just wouldn't be as cool without your plugin. Do you have any idea what may be causing this to happen? I am using a World Generator called Islands and plugins I see others mentioning including Factions, Essentials, and WorldGuard.. (Not sure if these things are important or not.)

I don't agree with your general statement. More configurability means more potential for bugs and more time spent testing, which in turn may discourage me from working on adding cool new features. So it's important to balance configurability with everything else. :)

Posted Dec 17, 2012Adding the ability for the tiny slimes to do damage would increase difficulty. Currently, the large and first (medium) split slimes only do damage. When slimes split a third time, they are harmless.

Not 1 plugin, several popular plugins.
Hard core mode, without a way to disable these explosions, is just too advanced for it's time. Nothing supports it yet. This is not a good thing, despite Extra Hard Mode being very well coded.

Posted Dec 16, 2012@Zombiemold. So basically you want to disable and weaken the features of a good plugin because a broken, yet popular plugin won't do it's job? Nevermind the fact that there's a proven established simpler and more effective grief prevention program that DOES work with this plugin that you won't switch to. Why do you insist on sticking with World Guard when the owners of that plugin refuse to fix the bug that is causing this problem. Especially after Bigscary handed them the code to fix it himself! I know you guys think that adding more configurability and customization is always a plus, but adding things like that often adds complexity and with complexity comes the potential for more bugs. Lets not fix what is not broken here.

Posted Dec 15, 2012Here is an album, showing damage done to a MobArena, protected by WorldGuard and Mobarena (for redundancies). Hawkeye can't roll it back, so I guess I am repairing it by hand.

I am in no way saying it's this plugin's fault or anything, but this would be one good reason why server admins could appreciate the ability to disable this feature.

Posted Dec 13, 2012The fact that a plugin is big or popular does not indicate that it is a good plug in. There's no sense in screwing up the code of a good plugin such as this to work around the failings of a popular plug in such as WorldGuard.
If this plug in remains unpopular, it is because so few people are willing to step up to the challenge and adapt to the new environment. They want the new environment to adapt and fit what they are used to.
Hope no one takes offense to that, but that's my observation from playing this server and following this commentary. Felt it needed to be said.

I don't mean fix it per say, I mean give us the option to configure your plugin to not handle the explosions at all, to allow us to make a compatibility decision.
I really like the changes to ghasts, I really really like the new random powered creepers, but I don't like my console spammed with errors by Hawkeye, and Towny, and Worldguard, or that players are using TNT in towns and stuff. These are big popular plugins that many people use and rely on.
I use Towny, not JUST for it's ability to allow players to protect their stuff, but for how it builds a community, and allows people to build together and build a township. It's really cool.
I would just love an option that just disables all your custom explosions, and possibly disable a feature or two so I can keep the plugin compatible with what we have.

Sorry, but a server which can't handle lots of TNT exploding at once doesn't meet the minimum requirements for a Minecraft server. It's not a level of support I want to work for, because it's an extreme (and rare) situation to be in.

Please explain about "perma creeper explosions"? If you have a griefing problem, please consider your options for anti griefing plugins. I generally recommend Grief Prevention, but it won't fix that specific problem, which is exceedingly rare.

Hey bigscary, any chance for an option to disabled explosions from this plugin entirely? I'd prefer not to have perma creeper explosions or TNT explosions that kill people in towns if possible.
