Fear the Darkness
Fear the darkness is a mechanics/roleplaying mod that allows you to strike fear into players when they are in dark areas, similar to the game Amnesia.
- Players standing in dark areas will proceed through a sequence of roleplaying events, culminating in doom.
- Adds a new layer of gameplay depth, potentially forcing players to play only in well lit areas.
- Great for preventing hiding in caves on a hellish Monster Apocalypse world.
- Fully customizable.
- Script your own chat/damage/spawn events.
- Set a depth where players are alerted to being too deep and trigger the darkness event.
- Timer resets when players enter 'light' (what you set it to).
- Works with torches at light 8, or sunlight at light 16.
- Color codes supported.
- Set your own darkness level, to allow for varying intensity.
- Spawn mobs when their curse level reaches whatever you decide.
- COMPATIBLE WITH MONSTER APOCALYPSE

Posted Feb 24, 2013Hi. I love the plugin. Just the atmosphere I'd like in one of our worlds. But I have a request, could you make it so that when a player is using a nightvision potion, he is considered being in light until the potion wears off?

Posted Feb 16, 2013Awesome Plugin. To add to the functionality, can there be a way to control how far away from the player that the monsters spawn? ie 2 blocks away, or 10 blocks away.

Posted Feb 13, 2013Hey blain, would it be possible to add a hallucination mob? Sadly i've gotten this idea from my own experience... What i mean is, a monster that spawns, walks for a couple seconds then dissapears along with effects. Also, how about adding support for more events? something like this:
- 1:1:Woah!:creeper;hallucination:5:1:WITHER_SPAWN:SPEED:20:10:LIGHTNING_HIT:1 - [Mob;Type:Seconds:amount] [Event:Hearts dealt]

Posted Feb 11, 2013Very nice! One suggestion though: It would be interesting if you could disable all text messages, I find them unnecessary and that just sounds with no text at all would be even scarier.

Posted Feb 4, 2013im pretty sure that youve heard about the spam messaging glitch when you go under the specific y co-ordinate with immediate mode on, but another problem ive discovered is that if you go above 256 (building max height) it spams it again. (like going under)

I just copied and pasted it off the config page and editted it from there so I will have to fix it then, lol. Also, I had it set to 30 seconds before and it was still causing the issue. When I wake up tomorrow I will get v1.3 again and try it out with your config instead and see if it fixes the issue. I'll edit my post to let you know how it goes.

Okay, so every 5 seconds is too much for the plugin, you arent even giving the plugin time to 'cool off', the effects on the player don't even wear off by the time the next one starts.
that doesent cause fear if its every 5 seconds, that causes a bad time.
just change the time to more than 30 seconds.
And try using different effects, here is my config - it works perfectly, just try that as a template.

Also, you might have miss-spelled a enum, but that would break the plugin completaly.
And i'll leave the plugin part to blain, i don't know if there are any incompatibility issues.
AND - your message to display when a player is below a certain depth should be above the evil events, the order of your config could have been doing that.

Currently the v1.2 works better than v1.3 for me so I am using that. Here is my configs: http://pastebin.com/ewf8BACr That is what I had it set to for v1.3 as well but it would spam the chat with the events that would happen, I can get you a screenshot if you want to know what I mean by spam the chat with the messages.
In v1.2 that I am using, it also gives you an internal server error and disconnects you from the server every time if you have the regeneration effect on and an event triggers. Could be an issue with something else and the mixing of the potion effects though. v1.2 Doesn't have immediate mode and also I had it disabled because I wanted the event to happen every 5 seconds. After 5 seconds the event triggers and it starts to spam your chat. It doesn't immediately unless you have it set to immediate mode. I actually got rid of the config and reconfigured it, and in v1.2 it doesn't spam anymore but once you get beneath the height limit it spams the same message every 5 seconds.
