What is Factions?

With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.

Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.

Install

Stop your server.
Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
Start your server again.
Configure (Optional)

New In Factions 2.8

Reworked Commands - /f rank, /f invite, /f flag and /f perm.
Added Commands - /f setpower, /f status, /f unstuck and /f tt.
WorldGuard - Readded a simple integration.
Tab Completion - Tab completion now available for everything!
Interactive Text - Clickable buttons for list and help commands.
1.8 Titles - Optionally used for territory info.
Animals Flag - New flag similar to the Monsters flag.
Performance - Further work on improved performance.
Bug Fixes - Loads of minor bugs were fixed.

Dear Brettflan and Cayorion, I'm trying to fix an bug I have been having for the past month since 1.2.3 ;)

I have this weird random error, that causes my server to "crash" it happens most times after someone has typed an /f command and it has to do something with threading.

Could this be Factions related and if so, I would like to know what I can do about it to fix it :)

The plugins I run are very basic atm, because of this and I want to test what is going on:

Plugins (26): Orebfuscator, WorldBorder, GroupManager, Minequery, WorldEdit, Buycraft, SpamGuard, Vault, Multiverse-Core, CombatTag, WorldGuard, ObsidianDestroyer, Permissions, ObsidianFlow, NoCheat, Votifier, mcMMO, Essentials, EssentialsProtect, EssentialsSpawn, Multiverse-Portals, NoPortals, ChestShop, EssentialsChat, Factions, SimpleRegionMarket

I see no Plugins beside Factions that could use Threading, Orebfuscator is out of the question because I've contacted him weeks ago about it and he says he's not causing it to happen.

I would like to hear from you

Guys can you help please :) how can i make it so certain groups cant use the f claim command since there claiming land in our prison im using pex

So i was thinking of using this on my server (well, 3 of us admin for the server were talking about it).

One thing we were hoping to do on our server, was utilise permissions groups in such a way where we have the following ranks: guest, player and member.

faction 1 might have 4 members and no players or guests, members create the most power for a faction (eg. power of 40 for instance).

faction 2 might have 1 member, 1 player and 8 guests, where:

member = power 10 player = power 5 guest = power 2

so faction 2 would have a max power of 31, however if the member and player in faction 2 were to help their guests rank up to at least 'player' level, faction 2 could go from max 31 to max 55 power.

Is there anyway of doing something like this in factions, preferably in an automatic sense instead of a manual sense.

whenever i try to create a safe zone, it says this tag is already in use, what do i do?

Hey Mate,

/f config wildernessBlockTNT true Also blocks creeper explosions (running 1.2.4 and Factions 1.6.7) /f config wildernessBlockTNT false Enabled creeper explosions

The setting wildernessBlockCreepers is set to false for the above - I'm unsure if this replicates in other "zones" as I haven't tested it extensively. I couldn't see any notes indicating this is fixed/different in 1.7 so I haven't updated either.

That should only be happening if you've changed the disablePVPForFactionlessPlayers setting to true (default is false).

The ability to merge factions might be nice, but honestly with the other various features and changes for the plugin I have planned I'll probably never get to it.

agree with juloo65 , mysql support would be ideal for this plugin ...

also it would be nice, if plugin could set players random to faction Option... so new players would join in random faction :D

Also Rank system :) It would be nice, if you can see factions by rank... TOP PVP/Worst PVP, Biggest teritory, biggest power...

Also if you can but different value of Claiming land from factions, which ar based on time, how long faction hold this teritory.. It would be even better :D

Idea :

To Do

MySQL support for WebStats (I can create the WebInterface for you) and remove player.json, factions.json and tags.json (very big and make how time to load factions on start)

Bug Fix

Remove CaSe SeNsItIvE to all factions's commands.

Hi,

please help me. Why are users able to use commands when they are not logged in? They do not write /f command but only f command and it works :/

I am using PermissionEx and AuthMe.

Please HELP!

EDIT: Ok i repaired it. Problem was in config if noslashcommand=true... plugin ignores permissions and then no logged in players can use command :/ You could repair it :)

I have a faction server and have been on many other faction servers as well and I have seen in most of them small factions joining with others and there old stuff to be griefed. This is why I am posting here, if you could, would it be possible to add a "merging" command? For example the faction Blockers wants to merge with the faction MelonWorld, then one of the factions types /f merge Blockers. Then the other faction can get a confirmation and whoever is the larger faction power wise has the name to take over so all of MelonWorld's land will be Blockers land but they are all in the same faction together combining power and land.

Any way to allow pvping factionless people? The surge of noobs in my server is causing many regulars to want to kill them, but alas, they are factionless.

Hey guys. HCFactions admin here. I'm having an issue with the strength of huge factions. as it stands now, I have +10 max power, -10 minimum power, with a power swing of 20. However, I've got factions that are 30 members large. It's created an unfair environment with the larger factions unable to have their land claimable.

Anyone have any suggestions for this? I considered a player limit for factions, but this not being received positively from my players. Just curious what others may have come up with as a solution to this, as I'm sure its happened before.

Currently my sever is set up to allow enemies the ability to build, destroy and use etc withing an enemies territory providing they are online. Im having a problem where enemy factions are unable to do anything (build,destroy,use) within "owned" faction land of their enemy? is there a way around this other than dis-allowing owned faction land?

Is there anyway to let someone attack someone in their own faction? This is dealing with the "War" plugin pvp arena.

Should be already compatible, keeping in mind CraftBukkit apparently has some nasty bugs, some of which are present even in the latest dev build.
